Watching this tucking into 3 egg omelette, bacon and goat cheese. My go to brunch. Am on 2 meals a day. Sticking with keto meals and eliminating glucose spikes totally revolutionised my life. 7 years down the line, I feel full of energy, my brain is sharp, no sleepiness in the afternoon or SAD during winter. Loved this interview. So on point🥰

I have been doing intermittent fasting for 10 months. I started with daily fast/eating windows. I have moved on to 2 fasts per week for 36 hours each time (including the time I sleep), on two non consecutive days. I calculate nothing, check nothing of what I eat, but my whole way of eating changed naturally towards exactly what she suggests. I have been craving veggies, eggs, turkey breast, hummus, to break my fast for a long time now. And it’s the same the rest of the day, I do not crave the same things anymore at all. And I have lost 42 pounds of fat so far. No muscle loss at all. I wish I had known that my problem was linked to my insulin way before last year! I never had energy like this, focus capacity, my mood has never been so good, anxiety down, no more unexplained pains and aches… According to my doctor, after 40, losing weight would be so much harder, but actually, it has never been easier, because I finally understand how this work.

"Cage Free", "Free Range" and "Organic" eggs are all basic the same as regular low priced eggs. The chickens are not allowed to roam and eat naturally. The only eggs you should buy are "Pasture Raised", in which chickens are literally allowed to roam freely outdoors and eat grass.
@littlepotato2741
@littlepotato2741 Жыл бұрын
Technically, "pasture raised" doesn't have a legal, enforceable definition. At least here in the US. So you have to do a little more digging into the company farming the eggs. And that's why you will often not see people recommend buying pasture raised eggs because it has no meaning legally. It's the legal equivalent of buying milk from happy cows. Beyond that small issue, I totally agree that pasture raised is the best way for healthy and nutritious eggs.

My keto dinner and snack routine. I have a deep Staub cast iron enameled frying pan. Almost every night I make a stew of finely chopped meat that gets fried first in avocado oil, then add thinly sliced veggies - onion, celery, red, yellow and orange peppers and thin cut zucchini and yellow summer squash. Black pepper, thin sliced elephaant garlic or garlic powder and ssome butter. It boils down into a stew in its own juices, maybe a little cooking wine to keep it from boiling dry. Boil for a while, then crack five eggs on top, cover and turn off heat. The eggs are for snacks the next day. Freeze left over stew.

In 2002 Leslie Kenton published Age Power which was saying pretty much everything Jessie says. Nice to know her work has finally become more mainstream. She begins the book with an explanation of glycation and inflammation as the causes of aging and disease - and before that there was Dr Atkins who was vilified by those pushing the high carb low fat diets so popular at the time. I wonder how many diabetics had their lives shortened by being told to eat low fat, high carb diets?

Funnily enough her diet used to be called the enzyme catalyst diet or something similar. I remember thrifting that book in highschool about 15 years ago. I lost so much weight! Gained it back because that author emphasised fresh cut raw veggies as starters which was hard to sustain once I started college. But aside from that he also gave a lot of importance to fermented foods and vinegar before meals. I think that book was published in the 70s-80s.

@@jabibgalt5551 seriously! I have dealt with a number of mental health issues practically all my life, including having been diagnosed with ADD and depression. I've been on my health/healing journey for many years now and I still experience plenty of ups and downs in the form of relapses into harmful/self-sabotaging behaviours and habits. but without any doubt, whenever I am on "a good roll" it's during the times I consistently workout and manage my diet according to not only Jessies principles but other healthy diet habits I have researched over time. what I put into my body hands down has the most impact on my mental health considering everything. I've been to talk therapy, spend 9 weeks in a clinic, I'm exploring my spirituality, tried meditating, journaling, I took anti depressants for over 2 years (and still am on meds for my ADD) and and and... while all of those things are or were helpful in some way, NOTHING beats eating right and getting a little bit of movement in. it lifts me up and heals me on an incomparable level.

I agree with a lot of what she says. However, like most speakers, she does not distinguish between honey and processed sugar. There is a lot of misunderstanding regarding this issue (some might even call it ignorance). Raw unprocessed unfiltered honey is a gift of the universe. This honey heals wounds and burns, boosts the immune system, and kills germs to say the least. Sadly, most people are not aware of the healing power of honey , and most "nutritionists" online considers it merely a mixture of fructose and glucose. Ever thought about the thousands of kilometers those little bees have to travel to produce honey? Is it just to produce glucose and fructose? Please bear in mind that the honey I am referring to is NOT the cheap honey found on supermarket shelves , or the one added to cereals. I am talking about quality honey that has not been heated or filtered or messed with in any way.

Some gurus said i have genetics so good but hey why entire village in my area all looks slim and fit then seems special genetic viligers ? I don t think so. I will tell you what one old farmer told me once back in time . Human cells are absorbing fats or carbs and now the trick is once you consider the cell as foam sponge and spill it it with water and sugar its so easily sucked in thus needs less insulin to transport it to it. But once you sill it with oil and then sugar water comes at sponge what happens sugar can t be absorbed so easily becaouse fats is preventing it and blood glucose is increased then body activates more insulin to kind of pushing this through fatty membranes of songe. So since i heard this i believe becaouse i don t move much aside of walk and farming work and we are all fit and slim. And yes we don t fry or use oils at all becaouse we don t have it. I was literraly asked by dr. i need to start eating oils becaouse my body fat is too low below 3 percent. My 11 years old son as well has sub 3% and wonder why well becaouse we don t eat fats and oils and milk shakes etc.

I started only this afternoon after finishing another of her podcasts on another channel. My first meal was eating at chik fil a and then made my own dinner. I had been going from cutting carbs to craving sweets multiple times a day AGAIN. After the two meals, the lunch meal, I included a peach shake (heaven forbid) and subbed a side salad for my fries with a grilled chicken sandwich. That was around 1 pm today. I wasn't hungry and didnt eat my dinner until 10 pm. I am and have been almost prediabetes since 2017. I was told last month to go on cholesterol medication. I am going to recheck my bloodwork again next month. I had begun to watch my carbs again and lost 7 pounds on my own, but as I mentioned wothin a month the cravings came back again. In the right ORDER I can HAVE the carbs I love. How absolutely encouraging and exciting! I was skeptical for about a half a day, as most plans let me down. This was FREE. Oh! Id been using the AC Vinegar for other reasons and was drinking it WITH my meals. Tonight i drank it with water BEFORE the meal. Im so full and i dont want any sweets or anything else as i am full but not crashing. And I always want sweet, even if I am already full. I don't mean to jump the gun, but I had a gut feeling my glucose level was the issue (so did my previous care provider as she tried me on a few glucose control meds, but two made me sick and one was $90 a month with insurance, so I quit them). However NOTHING in my bloodwork--go figure; still doesnt have to be to be bad I have read). I have been let down so many times that I was kind of bashing the first interview (ironically like she was saying in THIS interview) after halfway finishing her first podcast I heard while i was eating the lunch and making a very late dinner. Oh, and I forgot to mention -I had a panic attack in the am because I had coffee with no breakfast, and I am sensitive to caffeine to begin with. I don't feel like a truck ran over me yet like I normally would afterward. I'm really praying this will help reverse the insulin resistance and keep the inflammation (I have adult acne with menopause worse than in my teens, as well as body pain mostly triggered by gluten sensitivity). If I can lose some weight- great, bc I am obese and have pretty much given up, bc dieting literally makes me very sick about two weeks in on any program except extreme carb cutting, which is impossible to maintain or stick with long-term. I would be ecstatic to lose 10-20, though 40-50 would be ideal. And any improvement in my extreme anxiety since menopause would be an amazing and welcomed improvement. For once in a very long time, I am cautiously encouraged.

Cage free, free range eggs in the US are almost always raised in exceedingly crowded conditions in a building and a few lucky ones might be jostled to a point where they find a tine door that leads to a postage stamp sized bit of dirt and grass and they see the sun for the first time. As far as cooking, leaving the yolks runny (adding them last to an omelet etc is much better from a health perspective. Overcooking reduces the health benefits substantially.

Also, you can't just abstain from sugar. Gluconeogenisis ensures we maintain 4g of glucose in our bloodstream without consuming sugar (usually from non-proteins, non-carbs, & non-fats). Also, it's blood glucose that is the problem, so removing carbs is the real battle. Sugar is addictive and it's in 90% of the "food" on grocery store shelves. @@barkingmonkey I don’t think you understand the basic principles of ‘weight loss’. You don’t want to lose fat and muscle - that’s what happens when people focus on their ‘weight’ - what you want is to keep muscle while losing fat, this means the scale may not change immediately but that doesn’t mean you’re not losing fat. (Muscle is more dense than fat, so the scales aren’t an accurate guide) You should always aim to lose fat not muscle by eating plenty of protein (while in a calorie deficit) and doing basic strength training (doesn’t have to be body building standard!) to keep healthy while losing fat. That’s the difference between weight loss and fat loss. Muscle loss is the worst thing you can do but it can be mitigated. Hope that helps!
@barkingmonkey
@barkingmonkey Жыл бұрын
@@BethVonBlack if someone has 100lbs to lose like my example of 5’5” 250lbs. Is it possible for them to only lose body fat? Even with strength training and all the protein they can eat in a calorie deficit, they will HAVE to lose muscle mass a long with body fat to get to a normal weight for their frame. Do you see what I’m saying now? Someone I worked with was 6’ and 300lbs. If they only lost body fat with zero muscle mass they would have been 6’ and 250lbs of only muscle mass. Get it? He would have been able to walk on stage at a bodybuilding show and win. I understand the body just fine. You need to understand the nuance of the answer. A 5’2” woman who is 100lbs over weight has to lose lean body mass with fat mass to get to a “normal” weight

Using that has helped my sleep DRAMATICALLY. Just last night, I woke up at 3 am feeling hot. I turned off my air purifier so I could hear whether the Ooler was going or not. Sure enough, I’d forgotten to turn it on when I went to bed. If you are a person who wakes up hot in the night, shell out the money as soon as you can and get some kind of cooling pad or mattress!!! It’s the best thing I’ve ever done to improve my sleep. I use it year round since I would wake up hot without it, but it’s especially helpful on hot summer nights.
