She is not saying that fasting is bad … it just may not be able to work out for everyone . For some fasting may increase cortisol especially if they are under too much stress already . She is not saying to eat all day and fasting is a great tool if one can do it without adding too much stress

Yeah, but that all can be/should be done overnight, while we're sleeping, even when time restricted eating (which is regular feeding btw) It's great to have additional starvation on top of that... Until it's not 😅

@mokshalani8414 you can fast anytime you like. Not everyone eats during the same hours for various life reasons. Some only eat supper and some only eat lunch. You fast how you're comfortable fasting. I do no more than 16/8. Most days I only fast 13 hrs. If you eat properly, it's not hard to stay fueled because you have the right nutrients. Fasting long periods is great for the body. It's our original design. Hunter/ gatherers.

The longer one fasts autophagy increases exponentially, and it is autophagy that detoxes, cleans up and rebuilds mitochondria, neurons, etc. Some of the more “miraculous” benefits only begin after 72 hours of fasting or longer. While fasting the body doesn’t have incoming nutrients, so it begins scavenging and recycling parts that are broken, foreign (such as microbes) or no longer needed. This makes extraordinary progress in healing.

I think its important to be flexible. I intermittent fast but dont do necessarily do it the same every day. One day i might do 20+ hrs and one meal. Another day it might be 16hrs and a couple of meals and the next i might eat from early to late. Generally i follow a low carb diet so my blood sugar is mostly stable anyway but ive started trying to encorporate some of her practices for times when i endulge in foods that might spike my levels.

My dad, who benefits from intermittent fasting, keeps recommending it to me. The issue is that I take thyroid medication and supplements in the morning. What may benefit a man may not work out for a woman. It sounds like an excuse but I tried it and failed. I do better when I eat a high-protein breakfast. I eat far less throughout the day when I do that. Plus, I get very angry when I'm hungry. That's not good for those around me. Thanks for saying this.

I love this however I feel amazing when I fast & I prefer only 2 meals a day but I use Jesse's hacks within that. I know a lot of people who don't enjoy fasting for all of these reasons mentioned but I've finally found a way of life that I don't consider a diet or hard work & I'm 56.

It just means you're weak and couldn't fight off the feeling of hunger. Your body is not starving it holds a lot of sugar and fat to feed you. 12 hour fasts are pretty easy, and after a few days or doing it, you adapt. You don't feel hungry or weak.

I have no problem with intermittent fasting each day. I do brunch and then a dinner. Never have i fasted for 24/48/72 hours. I do her hacks and take my supplements. Drink 1/2 gallon of water daily. No caffeine and try to stay away from sugar but not fructose. I am 64/118pounds. My body needs to exercise but after doing cooking/laundry/cleaning, I have little desire or time to do anything more. Wish there were more hours in a day...I need to stay off the social media(KZbin) and texting are my time wasters!!!! 😮😢

Thank you for this. People seem to think that one size fits all and fasting is the magic to cure all. Personally fasting takes a toll on my body and worsens my hashimotos disease. I have been fasting since childhood due to religious purposes but once hypothyroidism hit, i couldn't do it anymore.

Before I really believed in this woman but now it lessened because I'm a driver and eat a lot . I've stroke 3 times and experienced heart failure I eat break fast, lunch, dinner and snack in between I almost die and 5 years I'm just inside our house I can't even take a bath by my own but when my friend shared me a video about intermittent fasting16/8 now I can carry myself I can go outside and I can wash our plates and all the stuffs after eating I just eat for the period of 8.hrs. as my eating window now I'm strong enough. thank you for intermittent fasting video that I found...

I do something similar. I’ll eat a larger brunch meal and either have homemade later in the day I might have some broth and plenty of water and sometimes herbal tea with a little salt and potassium citrate.

True, I agree with you. I eat most of the time, and during those times I avoid carbs. I feel great because I feel energized. I'm not fat either, and a few months ago I did a glucose test; everything is darn good.

Yes, this is because digesting takes a lot of energy so if you don't eat a lot, you need less sleep. I notice if I fast, I feel more rested with less sleep. However because I randomly have more energy to walk when im fasting, I try to walk for an hour or 90 minutes around 6pm, it makes me ready to sleep by 10pm.

Agree!!! Did the fasting, lost some weight, BUT messed my hormones & gain the weight back like a shooting star the moment I was back to my original diet. It messed up my metabolism too … unless you enjoy fasting & can keep it that way for life.

intermittent fasting (IF) is not the same as ramadan fasting. IF is called wet fasting (abstaining from food but not water - liquid) Ramadan fasting is called dry fasting ( no food and water) which can weakened your body - which is why it is a religious act - to feel the pangs of hunger and weakness for God's sake. I've been fasting for stretches at a time for months. Combined with the Glucose Goddess management strategies has resulted in optimal health and wellbeing for me. I have even seen an improvement in my poor circulation, which has impacted my hands and feet for years. I thought it was genetic, but turns-out I have been overdosing on glucose all this time

She makes a good point particularly about piling on stressors. I would feel this early in the morning and especially a nasty weather day . . But if you know how to do it, fasting is highly advantageous in some respects. The kind of fasting our ancestors did, we are naturally adapted for. She is pointing out all the added stress of our modern life in industrialized society, kind of overlooked by our assumption that pursuit of material comfort somehow is the answer. My attitude now is, who needs this shit--modern society unless you're rich. I like intermittent fasting and I'm stickin' to it.

I am in the midle of 8 decade. Always had good and rich breakfast. As younger - three meals daily. As older - only two. Never capable to endure fasting. I see no reason to use 'fasting' towards the end of my life... I feel best when I go to bed around 11 PM and wake up around 6 AM.

I have this theory that the model can be scaled up and down. Scaling down for instance demands much more precision in construct. Scaling up allows for more "playroom" with regards to frequencies etc. Would you say that's correct?

Finally someone says fasting is not necessary the best for everything and everyone. My body doesn’t like to fast even though I know there are many benefits. I think you just have to listen to your body. I am wondering what was the dieting “eat bit by bit 6times a day” thing a decade or some time ago😮 I prefer this than fasting. I don’t follow any of them tho:D I just like to listen to my body! I workout a lot so I feel extremely drained and fatigued after my workout routine. It is enough for me to have 12h window after my dinner till my first breakfast:D I have 14h till my fist breakfast when I sleep too much 😂 I think everyone is different - everyone’s body functions differently:)) I respect all opinions❤

I use IF to control my caloric intake (I am admittedly a sugar addict), but if I set time boundaries on when I eat, I better control my diet. 20 hours fasting with a 4 hour eating window isn't really a problem for me. On the other hand, my wife gets nauseous, loses energy, and can't comfortably handle the longer fasting period. Fortunately, she has more willpower than me when it comes to her diet.

Fasting helps the body transition from storing fat to burning energy, as the body naturally alternates between these two states-there is no third option. If your health markers (like glucose and blood pressure) are normal, it’s okay to focus on eating healthy without fasting. However, fasting can be beneficial for bringing elevated markers back to normal levels.

Every time I tried fasting in my obesogenic environment, I ended up binge eating afterwards. The urge to binge eat was so strong - I could never stop it. And binge eating is the worst thing one can do for your blood sugar. So, I used to fast in my teens (when I had no job and could focus 100% mental energy on thinking about how to not think about food). But now, when I work and need to pay my bills and have responsibilities - I cannot afford to use my mental energy on things outside of my daily responsibilities or I will end up binge eating again. Binge-eating after fasting is much worse than not fasting at all but not binge eating either. So, I cannot play with fasting any more, unfortunately. And for those, who have binge eating problems, I advise to stay away from fasting.

Wow Jessie, what you said is the same as what we have in Islam. If a person is doing a very tiring job, they can skip fasting and do it on some other times. For example a job like bricklaying under the sun or anything like that. Also there are a few people who are not suitable for fasting according to Islam, like the elderly people, pregnant/breastfeeding moms, sick persons, women with menses and travelers

I understand...I'm not a heavy eater to begin with, with other stressors I keep under control with meditation & light exercise, love my job...but when I try to do an 18-24 hour fast I get a fever blister every time. 🙈🥴🙄

Fasting might be a stressor. But it has worked for me. I drink less, consume less stimulants, and dont need carbs at all. Plus!!!! Got healing from highly inflammatory issues Mr Dr never told me to fast to lower inflammation.

Fasting is not stressing body, only the lifestyle stresses it.. My body loves fasting. I learned that it doesn't need to eat unless it is really hungry.

I feel no stress from fasting, and I do it everyday, so I think it’s also what else is going on in your life that’s causing you stress, starvation will stress your body, but not time restricted eating

I remembered last week,my Dr.told me to drink medicine for blood sugar because I’m pre diabetic so I can eat 3 times a day…I did that last 2018 but what came next..I had also hi blood pressure,hi cholesterol,acid reflux …LC together with intermittent fasting..now my sugar normal,no more hyper acid..but if I eat again breakfast,not my sugar will raise,my blood pressure high

Ladies, if you want to know why fasting isn't for you, look up interviews with Dr. Stacy Sims here on KZbin. I stumbled upon her a few weeks ago, seven and a half years into IF wondering why my body was breaking down on me. My 66 year old mother is doing better! Turns out our bodies just go for our muscle as fuel while fasting. Bottom line is, fasting is ok for men, not for us and that's not an opinion. Dr. Sims has the data if you care.

I do intermittent fasting unintentionally… like I’ve online job and not heavy stress, I’ve pets and maids. I dislike exercise and love good foods. I’m maintaining a balanced diet but sometimes it’s hard but I eat around 6pm and go not eat till next 8 to 9 am. In that way I’m able to keep my weight in check and I sleep better even when I’ve sedentary lifestyle. I try simple stretching but many days I forget ….. I don’t drink colas or eat any junk it’s home food for me or seldom ramen but with lot of kimchi & nori. I drink close to 2 litre water I cannot drink more.

I kept hearing about fasting so I just gave it a try. I didn't get my period for two months, even though I have ALWAYS been regular. Every body is different.

A nine day water fast cured my chronic hives that I’d had daily for 6 months. On the ninth evening they didn’t come back and never came back again. It cleaned or reset my immune system dramatically. I also lost a lot of weight. Fasting is powerful and amazing. Intermittent fasting I don’t even consider fasting.

Case to case basis, she did say 'if... this and that'... does not mean everyone is in the same situation and biology, try it - and keep doing it or not depending on how you feel, your body will tell you if it works or not.

Im on the fence abt this fasting business, is the goal just to have a 12-16 hr window where u r not eating for autophagy, or is it to reduce the no of meals a day from 3 to just 2 (to slim down)? I have no issue not eating for 12-16 hours, but i still eat a total of 3 meals a day 😂 i don’t need to slim down much so is what im doing enough? 😂

That's what happened to me. Now I don't fast anymore. 3 years fasting was great I lost heaps of weight but the 3rd year doing it I start gaining weight even though I didn't change anything. And to make it worse I gained more weight than my normal weight when I first started fasting. One of the reasons why because even though I look good skinny when I was fasting but I also lost heaps of muscle. No more fasting for me! Then I study later not only fasting is not good for women but it stresses your body and that's not good.

You are right, my mom says same, fasting is not for mother's. Fasting is for the people who don't work daily. As a mother i confirm, i tried but falling too dead weak. So shifted to 2 meal. Thats also i couldn't make seperate food fir my self. So started eating raw vegges and escaping from hubgry 😢 Mother life is no comparison with others
