18:45 As huge as the Tokyo prefecture, it still only has2 teams going through. Other prefectures that also have 2 teams going through are Hokkaido, Kanagawa, and Aichi (but in real life, it's Osaka, not Aichi). The reason Tokyo gets a 3rd teams is because Tokyo hosts the Spring Nationals, so they get an extra team. Basically, the tournament consists of 52 boys teams (47 + 4 + 1) and 52 girls teams.

The reason why the Nekoma has another chance while Seijoh or Shiratorizawa didn't is bc Tokyo is really big so they have too many schools, thanks to this 2 teams can make it to nationals and, even more, since this year nationals will be at Tokyo they give the home an extra chance, so a third team can make it thanks to like a wild card, which would make a second team be able to go to nationals to if it was held on Karasuno's prefecture for example (but bc of the place they're from something as huge as nationals couldn't be done there).

About Lev's sister, it is in fact a subtitle thing, Yaku calls her beautiful and Lev answers she is, which is obviously meant in a brotherly way, it's meant to be super cute. Something kinda like the fact that Noya always hits on girls but he doesn't on Tanaka's sister even if she's hot bc he sees her as a sister and is always calling her as such, that type of vibe but with the actual brother having the cute moment recognizing his sister is wonderful and pretty, in the place of how normal siblings pick on each other, like Tanaka being embarrassed at Saeko cheering for him or Tsuki with his brother. It does really ruin it when they change it to "she's hot" and Lev agreeing, makes it weird and fucks up the meaning.

Most reactors dislike Nohebi, so I had hopes that you'd see differently with your first reaction, but sadly you retracted your words :( But, and the manga shows it better than the anime in my opinion, and even Kuroo defends them for this, they are not bad guys (just slimy), and more importantly, they are seriously good at volleyball. There is nothing wrong with kissing ass in order for the ref to like you, and if it makes even just one point fall in your hand, then it's worth it. To me, they just understand that being better than the opponent is not only spiking better, receiving better, etc. They are closer to the professionalism of the sport. Just like you see football players always arguing for the possession on a line-out/corner kick (when they know damn well they touched the ball last), etc etc. They are not even being agressive about it, even their trashtalk is very tame, there are not even insults in there, and they specifically target the 2 hotheads. If they were purely assholes, they would be more agressive, and would throw shit at anyone, and on the contrary, they don't do it if it doesn't serve their objective : victory. Also, the repeated feints -> hitting Yamamoto in the face is basically the exact tactics Tsukki used against Seijoh in S1. Except he didn't get the face, so you are less shocked about it but had the Seijoh guy's reaction been any slower, he definitely would have taken a hit as well (You can still dislike them, and that attitude, though. It's totally valid to not like people. But they are not wrong to do it)

obligatory complaint (for me lol) that Tokyo, the biggest prefecture in terms of population, only gets 3 representative teams (and 1 is even a bonus because they always host the Spring Nationals) meanwhile most of the other prefectures get 1 each. someone else has done the math before, but really if based on prospective high school population, if Miyagi prefecture (where Karasuno is) gets 1 representative, Tokyo should get about 6
@laurainathunderstorm8 ай бұрын
I don't think all the others get 1, I'm pretty sure there's some others that get 2 as well, but Tokyo doesn't always get the venue representative right? Like I'm pretty sure the rule of an extra representative for the hosting prefecture comes from the fact that it's not the same host, otherwise Tokyo would just get 3 without that excuse. But yeah if we're going off population then Tokyo getting 2 representatives is a bit of a fuck up ngl 😅 Edit: so I looked it up and yes! Hokkaido, Kanagawa and Osaka all get 2 teams as well.

I think the way most of the characters pronounce "Lev" is just the result of Japanese accents on a western name. There are a lot of "sounds" that are common for us English speakers that are not used Japanese. For example, the "Th" , "L" , and "Hard R" sounds basically don't exist in Japanese. When Japanese speakers pronounce foreign names and words with those sounds, they often substitute the closest sounds that do occur in Japanese instead. "Th" sound becomes more like "S" "L" and "Hard R" turn into more of a "Rolled R" sound that's almost like a "D" sound. Example: "My *boo-ruh-sah* , Itadori Yuji" Additionally, most Japanese words end on a vowel sound. If they do happen to end on a consonant sound, it will usually be one that can be held like "S" or "N". When pronouncing a western word/name that ends in a consonant like "Lev" does, Japanese speakers will often add a vowel sound like "Oh" or "Ooo" at the end because from their perspective, it sounds more natural. Example: "Lefto" "7:44 Nice *Boo-rah-koo" So if we take "Lev" Replace "L" with "Rolled R" , Add an "ooo" because we can't end on the "V" sound And we arrive at "Ree-Ehh-Foo" In conclusion, pronouncing "Lev" like "Rev" (your engine) is valid and if you hear a non-Japanese name/word being pronounced with more/different syllables than you might expect, there's good chance one or more of these conditions apply. Thank you for attending this weeb Ted Talk.
@professor_ryoma11 ай бұрын
The pronunciation of Lev has little to do with Japanese accent. Since he has a Russian name, his pronunciation in the anime is similar to that of a native Russian speaker. However, the English subtitles are written alphabetically, so the pronunciation may feel strange.

@@professor_ryoma Well that's what I get for commenting without actually knowing Japanese or Russian Thank you for the correction
@guidociaranfi684411 ай бұрын
@@ZessDevonI think your analysis is pretty accurate, its true that Lev's name follows Russian's pronounciation but its also adapted to japanese Only thing is that I wouldnt call the japanese R "rolled" because rolled Rs are the kind of sounds typical of spanish and italian such as "risotto" for example, and instead japanese R doesnt use the rolling of the tongue. As you said, the sound is close to a "d" because the tongue touches the palate (thats why its called palatal R) very close to the teeths ( if the tongue touches the teeths you get the t/d hard sound).
