As a person who has gotten to the point of suicidal ideation, the thought that pulled me out of it was that death comes for everyone. You don't have to make it happen or force it because it's inevitable, so the best you can do is to find something that makes life worth living or at least tolerable. I thought about how good it feels to snuggle my dog or feel the sun on my face. Around the time of my suicidal thoughts, a coworker had died from colon cancer. On the night of his death, there was a supermoon, and I watched it rise over the mountains, which is an incredible sight to see. I thought to myself that my co-worker would never again get to experience the beauty of the natural world like I was experiencing at that moment. It cured me of wanting to end my life.

University has been spewing mediocre professionals for a long time. As someone who has been through more than 150 cognitive behavioral therapy sessions, with different "therapists", all from recognized and renowned universities, i can say that degrees, at least in the humanities, are overhyped and don't do much.

I live in Poland. I'm not native English speaker. I find her free YT content as simply *very well explained & easy to be understood* I don't care about her personal fantasies about higher beings from other dimensions etc. I filter everything she says (and other "gurus") through my own wisdom, education, life experiences & my personal own beliefs (I'm atheist). I feel resistant to any form of cult she (or other gurus) may develope. I just take the knowledge I need and leave the rest I don't need. For example: when I listen about "the law of attraction" I just treat it as a metaphor. I don't need to belive in living and thinking and loving Universe to find loads of opportunities to use this metaphor / intelectual construction. Other poeple, who do belive in higher sense of existence (like God(s) or living Universe) find "the law of attraction" differently than me. But imo still *Teal's YT explanations work for everybody* - both for me (atheist, treating it as a metaphor), and for belivers. This is a big value I find in Teal's work. This is her biggest talent, I think. The same with psychology. Imo her best movie is about self-love. All psychological guides tell you to "love yourself", but no one explains how to do it! TEAL DOES!!! And her advise is brilliant!

About the suicide video: it's on KZbin. It saved my life and that of some people I know. The technique is amazing. Postponing by a day, then a week, etc. Nothing before this video has ever helped. She did something that nobody else ever did : talk about it. Take it seriously. And give some tools to help. Mr tak health proffesionals are too scared to take on this topic and it has hurt me a lot. Denial of suicidal tendency is lethal.

I also found that video helpful in a moment of true crisis. I can only speak to my experience, but it helped me instantly shift into an empowered position & make choices that got me out of that space. It wasn’t a permanent fix, I had these kinds of thoughts resurface months later, but I failed to remember to watch the video again. I’m wondering if I had, if that would have made the last year or so go differently for me. Either way, it is a risky topic.

Just getting older gives you the perspective that you know things change. How you feel at one point does not mean you will feel that way in the future. Kids need to be taught that feelings are like the weather, they change frequently ! What is a huge storm one day, can pass and be like nothing in a short time. Don't be too quick to settle on one point of time or one feeling. Just because you have a thought doesn't mean it's right, or that you have to listen to it.

Someone can be 'objective' with given information (such as the documentary "the deep end") yet still be misinformed. That is the case because the documentary itself is a highly edited vile piece of anti-propaganda. one more thing.. I find it so interesting how opening up someone to different perspectives is as dangerous or more dangerous than sending them to someone “licensed” who will most likely point them in the direction of meds.. and literally numbing them or pumping them with toxic chemicals and making them dependent on meds for the rest of their entire lives. That is treating them as though they are to fragile to handle any type of critical thinking..

Just wanted to add, that meds can and do actually help people. After being addicted to weed for half my life, and being prone to post partum depression even with self medicating with weed, after my second pregnancy I was placed on a mood stabilizer and anti depressant. It helped me reconnect to myself without weed, and connect more to people in my life. It helped stabilize my mood, not numb me. I can finally feel joy and connection without needing to get high first. I also am not dependent on these meds, I'm weaning off right now and not even having withdrawals. Just offering a case study here! And there are TONS of other cases. I'm not saying that big pharma is not taking advantage of people, that certainly is happening. But please don't demonize what actually works for many people. Meds may have even helped me more for my first PPD, but I had such a negative stigma towards them that I smoked pot instead...which wasn't actually healing me.

People focus so much on the licensed/unlicensed part, but there's on guarantee that a licensed therapist will do a good or even decent job. Being told by a licensed therapist that I'm too emotional for her did a lot of damage and prevented me from reaching out for help again. On the other hand, Teal's video's on suicide made me feel understood and helped me build confidence. I don't think her teachings will help me become happy and build real connections, but they certainly helped me when I felt completely hopeless and suicide seemed like the only option. And I totally relate to Teal's outburst about parents refusing to take responsibility for their child's suicidal thoughts. Some parents are incapable of admitting any wrong doing which completely destroys their children's confidence and feeling of self-worth. I can also relate to her reaction to being questioned. And I totally agree with your analysis of that behavior being self-destructive. I'm working hard to become more open minded and get comfortable with criticism. I'm really inspired by how you're able to stay balanced and keep an open mind while talking about controversial subjects like in this video. This is the first video of yours that I've watched, and I'm going to watch a lot more of them. Thank you for sharing your valuable insights with us!

I'm really sorry that a licensed practitioner would say something so inappropriate to you. If I wanted therapy like that I would just go to my father-in-law for emotional guidance! The nerve of someone who's entire field revolves around helping people navigate their emotions projecting when they find they're not cut out for it... I think that's like the equivalent of a surgeon walking out in the middle of an open heart surgery because they're "stressed". I'm sorry that you went through that and I sincerely hope it doesn't prevent you from trying to seek more help in the future! Not everyone's like that and it's not a fruitless endeavor, trust me. I've been watching Teal for years now and love her content. I am still here and alive thanks to her brave, radical, honest and open teachings. Yes, in a world that wants us to be conditioned, in a world that cares only about money and success, in a world that allows pain and suffering but protects some imaginary safety, she will come across as crazy, radical, even dangerous. But all the 'professionals' that criticise her are just jealous she is saving us from drowning by hundreds and thousands with her free videos while you dance around individual clients in overcharged sessions unable to even scratch the depths of pain and trauma she is navigating confidently and skilfully, among other, because she was there herself. I watched this video because I can not believe world can be so blind and cruel to judge her, I was super curious if I am missing something or what.. It is staggering how unable some people are to not see the amazing stuff she does, but yet again, that's the same world that pushed me into depression and being suicidal for decades, word that is judgmental, uncaring, quick to attack, egoistical, self absorbed, unable to truly see the person next to them. Also, since you obviously haven't watch many of her videos, and you are judging her based on documentary of what is obviously someone wishing to tarnish her reputation. I would highly recommend you do watch and then judge for yourself.

Like for example, what emotion is someone showing, are they talking literal or figurative. I appear to be good at sensing people's emotions and subconsciously knowing how to act to it, but I struggle to put emotions to words or say what someone feels or what to do when someone feels a certain way. Your videos have helped me recognize body language and tone of voice and emotions more easily and I keep learning from you every video I watch. This video is a little faster than other videos I have watched, but with subtitles and pausing and rewatching bits I can still follow it. I havent been around on youtube for quite a while, but your channel is one of the first channels im watching again and I would like you to know, that I really appreciate everything you teach me. My brain functions mainly on logic, and by explaining the logic you have taught me more in a few videos than my therapist did in years, though experiences and trial and error has taught me even more, though both you and therapy give me things to try out and experience which is very useful. Edit: I would like to learn more about egocentric and narcissistic people, do you have a video you can recommend me? Huge EGO is just a person's insecurity. We all need an EGO & we came with one, but when it gets out of hand, it's because of insecurity & the need for attention. This is why releasing childhood trauma is so important. I'm sorry for your condition. This is all due to poisonous Vxs that are forced on all babies by the evils, but there's other reasons for it too, at least 2 other reasons. It's a balance in understanding if the person you are dealing with & even people who don't have autism often don't know if a person is narcasistic or not, & that word is thrown around way too much. My rule is this, if the person doesn't know themselves well & doesn't work on their issues using alternative therapy (even conventional would be better than nothing) than I don't want anything to do with them. I put up with people online who don't do this, but in real life I wouldn't. If they start to try & control me, that's a warning sign. I know it can already be too late by then. I'm a huge proponent of alt therapy. Conventional doesn't help at all, but alt therapy could help you, so you could look at my list to see if one of them works with autistic people b/c I know they also have the issue of flying off the handle for no reason. I would also work really hard to detox your body although a baby or child is never the same after the shots. I've heard that from mothers. I have an older video of a mother at Autism One who did a lecture & she used herbs on her son. I'm not sure how much it helped him, but herbs help us all b/c we are poisoned non stop by the evils. I don't know how old you are. I would also look into homeopathy & see if they have anything new to help. HTH

The channeling that sparked the abuse allegations from childhood could also be dangerous because in some states (if not all of them) there is not a statute of limitations on sexual child abuse. Now, would this discovery hold up in court or result in a final conviction just based on the fact that he/she was convinced it happened after the channeling, maybe not. BUT if you live in a state that is required to report and investigate sexual abuse of a child, any of those documents are often permanent, especially if there ends up being an arrest. So it's dangerous to just come out and say, "oh yea.. I'm pretty sure I was abused and so-n-so did it." That could legit ruin someone's life.

I haven't watched teal in a long time but tbh some of her advice was OK to me. I think what people don't like about her is her pragmatism and her insensitive demeanour, because she doesn't sugar coat what she says. Idk what to say about the " bad vibes " everyone feels from her, part of them could be just because she has a harsh approach to make you understand what is wrong and how you can solve your issues.

The thing with revisiting trauma, specifically through EMDR, is that while the practice is well documented to help heal trauma, no one knows WHY or HOW it works. EMDR also requires the mental health professional to be highly trained. They use precise motions and techniques, and VERY specific phrases to protect the client from being more traumatized by the experience. Sending traumatized people off in pairs to relive their trauma just sounds very irresponsible and potentially dangerous for the participants. 😖

First of all, thank you for sharing your open-minded/hearted, neutral perspectives, which we need more of in this world, since there are many shades within the rainbow 🌈 spectrum of Life and beyond, and this includes the topic of Teal Swan. Recently, I received an email newsletter from Teal and her team, though I had unsubscribed years ago and discontinued watching her. The old version of me would’ve reacted in an irritated way, but I intuitively knew there was something else that I could learn from her during this phase of my life, even if it’s briefly. Teal recently shared a social media poster that I highly resonate with, that states, “THE BEST SELF-ASSESSMENT FOR RELATIONSHIPS IS TO ASK YOURSELF THE FOLLOWING QUESTION: HOW WOULD I FEEL ABOUT MY SON OR DAUGHTER DATING A PERSON EXACTLY LIKE ME?” And it now occurs to me that this quote can also apply to ANY person, to include Teal Swan, and it doesn’t have to be related to dating or a romantic relationship. So would it feel light to my Heart if my adult children decided to watch (WITH DISCERNMENT) some of Teal’s helpful KZbin videos that are encouraging, uplifting, empowering, inspiring, and Consciousness expanding? Or even read some of her helpful material? Sure. However COMMA would it feel light to my Heart if my adult children decided to attend her workshop, event, and/or retreat? Absolutely NOT, especially after seeing some questionable video clips within this video, and mostly due to my personal experiences at her event that I wouldn’t want my loved ones to be exposed to (since Teal didn’t seem like her earlier KZbin, trustworthy persona during those times, but a completely different person). In a nutshell, I highly resonated with most of Teal’s earlier KZbin videos. This eventually lead to being drawn to one of her NYC events years ago. There, I had the opportunity to have personal experiences with Teal; and let’s just say that event was the first and last Teal Swan event due to some major red flags that I had witnessed, to include some surprising and disturbing verbal teachings-that seemed to be the opposite of her KZbin videos-and some revealing nonverbal cues (that I learned to identify, not only intuitively, but from various military training, to include a senior interrogator course). One woman participant I met left the event after a day, because Teal said something very insensitive to her audience, that further hurt this woman on her healing process. This woman had just left her chronically abusive mother and boyfriend, but because Teal was anti-solitude at the time-due to her own deep fear of ever being alone (hence, she was known to always be surrounded by her tribe)-she instilled guilt and shame for anyone who needed solitude time (even sharing a social media poster that anyone who wants solitude time is all about their ego, which I shared a disagreeing comment on). But even some of the highly respected spiritual teachers, to include Sadhguru, have taught about the importance of solitude time (that’s also balanced with social time); and I, too, know, from personal experiences, the profound value of some solitude time. Granted, I’ve been on a Soul journey of embracing and integrating more and more (ultimately neutral) aspects of Full-Potential, Multidimensional, WHOLE Self (Spiritual Self)/self (physical self)/interconnected Life, so that includes Teal Swan. I trust that Teal has her own strengths (and weaknesses) and Soul gifts (like all Souls), so, she’s not all good or all bad (like the rest of us), but a combo package of many complicated aspects. But it’s wise to BE DISCERNING when it comes to learning from others, and NOT just take everything onboard-in a non-intelligent, gullible way and without healthy boundaries (part of self-love)-and place another on a pedestal (due to NOT realizing the Divine within oneself as well). I trust that it’s wise to always follow our own inner guidance/Heart/intuition/inner-wisdom/and other LOVE-based energies FIRST AND FOREMOST, and sense when another does or does NOT FEEL light to one’s Heart.. By the way, what happened to actually analyzing non-verbal cues (not verbal) at the beginning of this video? See Red Flag 🚩 #1 (below). Plus, True Leaders are known to RESPECT their team members, and be very approachable to their team. All team members should be comfortable enough to authentically, honestly, freely, fully, and tactfully express themselves. If a leader has an intimidating attitude-that no one should dare challenge the leader-then even audience members may feel uncomfortable about asking questions (just like the guy appeared very uncomfortable to speak to Teal). Red Flag 🚩 #1: Her presence at the beginning of this video still FEELS cold, distant, closed-off, unapproachable and arrogant-how she mostly was at her 3-Day NYC Event (my first and last event with her)-though her presence FELT warm, empathetic and confident (yet humble) in her earlier KZbin videos that led to that event. Red Flag 🚩 #2: Why can’t someone challenge another without needing to be in an above position? She didn’t answer his question. And why isn’t the audience member’s question important? Every question is valid, and is apparently important to him. I don’t know how true this is-since I haven’t watched The Deep End documentary yet-but a woman who has seen it, shared a reading via the Medium app, abou Teal having her team sign a document called The Non-Negotiables that was very controlling, unreasonable, self-centered, and cult-like (that are definitely major red flags 🚩): I wondered if this document is true-since that would be a sure sign of fully releasing everything related to Teal Swan from my life. And sure enough, I found a Facebook posting of one of the main team members of Teal Tribe (Blake), who got married, and some woman posted the following comment: “You deserve to love a woman as wonderful as Juliana. Don't let Teal convince you that you aren't worthy of your own relationship.” 🖤🤍❤️🧡💛💚🩵💙💜🩷🩶🤎💔❤️🩹❤️🔥💝💖💗💓💕 A while back, while watching a Teal KZbin video, I noticed how she was subtly manipulative to her best friend, Blake, trying to make him feel guilty for spending some solitude time away from the continual demands of Teal and her team (he had turned off his phone at times, which anyone has every right to do). So I shared a comment about that, since it went against her teachings about manipulation, control, and instilling guilt and shame (which she also did at times in her later videos). You wanted feedback regarding 21:10 part of this video. The following is an excerpt from a BBC article, regarding a story from parents who lost their daughter to suicide: Experts' concerns But they all raised concerns about aspects of Swan's teachings. One of those experts is Dr Jonathan Singer, the president of the American Association of Suicidology. […] "She's got these ideas that in her mind are only helpful. But for others could be really dangerous." "What you're doing when you tell somebody to visualize how they're going to kill themselves, is you're telling them to practice in their mind," he says. He explains that research shows this type of imagery rehearsal is "a very effective way of improving your actual ability to do something". For example, it is something that Olympic-level athletes use, he says. 🖤🤍❤️🧡💛💚🩵💙💜🩷🩶🤎💔❤️🩹❤️🔥💝💖💗💓💕 Regarding 25:35 - 25:50 & 28:37 : When channelings include very general information that can apply to many people, without any specific, personal information, that can be a red flag 🚩 as well. Granted, I highly resonate with Bashar’s definition of channeling-channeled via Darryl Anka-that we all can do it to varying degrees when we’re in alignment with our True Self and following our exciting passions. But not all channelings are genuine, and stem from love-based intentions; hence, it’s important to Be DISCERNING while following one’s inner guidance/Heart/intuition/gut feeling/inner-wisdom FIRST AND FOREMOST.. And this includes a lot of psychic readings that can be accurate to varying degrees (but not all), depending on how a psychic’s heart and mind are integrated as One, and in alignment with a highly beneficial, unconditionally loving, profoundly wise and higher power within. Plus, there are many future probabilities with The Quantum Field of Unlimited Possibilities/The Cosmic Womb. Regarding 28:37 : You’re absolutely spot on, it can be damaging if those channeling in this documentary were projecting their own unhealed, childhood traumas. And they could’ve planted unnecessary, fear-based seeds into these participants, more than likely leaving some not so peaceful feelings about their family members, who may not have abused them. Like you stated, if whatever method truly helps others to deeply heal, great; but if there’s further hurt added, now that’s only adding fuel to the fire. 41:35 (RE: 5 techniques of cults and/or gaslighters): At the NYC Event, Teal did tell everyone NOT to follow any other spiritual teacher, and she did NOT like to be challenged with questions that seemed to go against or threaten her teachings. At this point, I lost track of all the Red Flags 🚩 within this video, but I’m still curious, so I will check out “The Deep End” documentary to Be a neutral Observer, explore various perspectives, and continue to learn and grow. But I strongly sense that afterwards, I will be fully releasing Teal Swan from my life-to include unsubscribing to her newsletter-while appreciating all that I’ve learned from her, and wishing her and her team well.

Thoughtful analysis! 1. The rules for Teal’s inner circle are not written, but frequently expected in small businesses with a need for intelligence and loyalty. (a hedge fund, or a medical practice). Teal needs to recognize she’s running a business & if it requires loyalty and commitment, that’s something that occurs through trial & error. I did see her response to the documentary and it seems like they all live in the same house & are communal. She is married and lives in her own house, asked to others. 2. I have not seen her live, but I think she is both brilliant & naïve. The documentary was a hit piece for ratings. I hope she has some humility for expecting something different and going back to the early videos. 3. i’m not a professional, but I think trying to deal with trauma victims who may be on psychotropic medication, and other things that can cause suicidal ideation. Just make it a bad idea. I would try to focus on her relationship, insight, and the nature of women and men. The contrarian thought of women craving a type of masculinity, seems to resonate with a lot of women, and put a higher burden on a lot of men who are not stepping up. 4. After attending her seminar was there anything positive? It sounds like you were inspired by some videos on KZbin, and then disappointed at the event? 5. Did any of her relationship concepts resonate with you? I think that is her real strength, and even if she has noble insight into trauma, it’s just not something to address in a seminar.

I remember seeing a video of hers on suicide. She encourages you to actually just go and lie down on the floor, as if the deed is done. And to ask yourself, "now what?" I thought it was a helpful way of realizing that suicide doesn't solve your problems, rather leaves you in a state where it's much more difficult to resolve them. For someone like me, with a good understanding of the difference between experimenting imaginitively with a hypothetical situation and actually wanting or condoning that situation, I found that really interesting and helpful. For some, the moment you say "imagine you committed suicide" it's like saying that you want that to happen, like encouraging them to envision it before they do it. We don't all think this way, though, and we don't all find it harmful. I understand that if someone has been somehow encouraged to commit suicide because of her approach to the matter, then it's important for her to consider the readiness of her audience to contemplate the ideas she wants them to in the way that she does. Personally, I love that approach of just being curious about death and not being afraid to acknowledge where you are. Sometimes when you feel really bad the last thing you want is people's "encouragemet" in words like "it'll get better soon," and "think of all the people who love you," etc.. we all know these things intellectually. What we need is some kind of spark of hope or a reality check to break us out of that loop of believing that death is the only solution. I think her aim is that reality check. Her approach may not be the perfect one, but I do beleve her intentions are good.

It's very sad that you can literally see her abuse and disrespect her cult followers in the documentary, yet some people with codependent personalities will still come to the defense of the cult leader. Do you have a need to be under the control of someone who you consider to be stronger than you? Do you not see how much the person in charge looks down on you and sees you as a pawn that they can charm/control in order to maintain their high status and dominance? Yes... ANNNNND I hope we can all learn to be more nuanced! If we can think and speak with nuance, we can critique the dishonest techniques but also evaluate to what extent those do NOT invalidate ALL of the concerns the documentary highlights. Maybe they invalidate some of the message of the documentary--it's disappointing that the documentary clearly seems to have a message, an agenda, rather than to be a good-faith effort to get at and portray the truth (but who's really surprised by that? content creators/distributors want to get views, and most use cheap sensationalism to get them)--but do those dishonest techniques completely negate all of the critiques it implies? I don't think so. Let's not throw the baby out with the bath water. I mean, this is not a court of law. I’m someone who spent years spiritually bypassing my shit using all sorts of new age techniques. Revelation and release after revelation and release, it was all fantasy. The real healing didn’t come until I engaged with a professionally trained trauma therapist and then I could see so very clearly how everything I did previously was actually re-traumatising me. Getting together with a bunch of strangers whom you've never met before in your life, and being pressured under the guise of "being open", "engaging non-resistance" and "being willing to do 'the work'" in order to talk about or re-experience your trauma with said strangers is re-traumatising in itself. They ask you to just completely ignore your natural intuition and common sense boundaries, usually under the indirect threat of being judged a "fear-based" person. They ask you to "release your fear" when real trauma therapy will teach you to honour and work with your fear. These people have never gained or earned your trust yet you just hand it over to them willy-nilly in a desperate attempt to avoid your pain under the guise of healing it. You all dissociate and enter a shared fantasy which keeps you trauma bonded to those people and the guru/facilitator. You leave the workshop feeling like you've created deep connections with complete strangers not realising it's a trauma bond. And then you go to the next workshop, and the next, and the next, becoming a healing workshop junkie and not realising why none of it ever sticks or heals you to the point that you don't need another workshop. Trauma bonds create cults. I spent 8 months talking absolute shite to my trauma therapist before my nervous system/subconscious fully registered that this was a safe person that I could trust and open up to. 8 months! Do you know what told my nervous system/subconscious that she was safe? Not her words, anyone can say anything, it was her actions. She showed up consistently at the same time every week. She wasn't going to abandon me, she wasn't going to get sick of me, she wasn't going anywhere. 8 months. And you're expected to do that immediately with a stranger at a workshop? Just open up immediately to a complete stranger? The minute you decide to trust a complete stranger in these settings you've already dissociated and abandoned yourself. What most people don't realise is that most trauma at it's root is about SAFETY and TRUST or the lack there of. Early attachment wounds with unsafe caregivers. You DO NOT heal that by blindly trusting a complete stranger with no professional trauma psychology education that will be in your life for a weekend and then disappear again. Talk about doubling down on abandonment trauma right there! Trust and safety with someone is earned, not blindly given. Attachment and relational trauma can only be healed within a safe, therapeutic relationship with someone who will be consistently there for you and consistently safe over a long period of time, gently chipping away at the trauma in a manner that does not overwhelm your system. It does NOT happen in an explosive cathartic release over 30 minutes with a complete stranger, and any healing you feel like you have gained is a fantasy that you will cling to to keep going, it's your minds way of trying to make sense of another trauma in order to split off from reality and not feel it. Trust me. You will play with these fantasies for as long as you need to until you're ready to do the real work. In my experience, experienced trauma PSYCHOTHERAPISTS trained in Polyvagal Theory and Somatic Experiencing KNOW what they are doing and are the most capable of working with your trauma. They know that there is no one-size-fits-all technique and work with your unique and specific experiences. New age healing techniques apply a one-size-fits-all method to trauma which is absolute madness. In my experience, psychologists and psychiatrists are the least equipped to work with trauma unless you find one that has personally chosen to inform themselves in the latest in trauma psychology, in Somatic Experiencing and in Polyvagal Theory. YES there is a massive difference between psychotherapists, psychologists and psychiatrists and knowing this will help you find what is right for you. Generally, psychiatrists work with labels and medication, psychologists work with behavioural techniques and psychotherapists go deep. As with ALL professions, the healing arts are littered with narcissists and psychopaths. Just because they have a degree does not mean they are not dangerous. You have to not give up the search in finding the right one, and TRUST your intuition when it tells you something is off. I also acknowledge money is a huge factor. See if there are any social supports available. My government offers free therapy to adult survivors of childhood abuse, although it's not advertised to the public at all I had to go looking for it, and I was lucky enough to be paired with a therapist who knew her shit and vibed well with me. I recognise my luck and do not take it for granted. But many therapists I paid for previous to her were shit. The irony of the free one being the best one! I wish you all the best in your search, it's really worth it in the end.

Thank you for this. There is so much to this. Often, after "therapy" a person is worse because so many "experts" open cans of worms and can't help the client clean out the can, release and resolve the emotional wound and psychological injury, and place something nurturing in the can, seal it, and put it away. And because they don't, clients end up with labels, drugs, secondary trauma, and more pain. Standard of care is generally horrifically ineffective. New methods, like EMDR, EFT, MR, and other somatic practices are effective... in the right hands. The only thing that matters to me are results my client wants, in every session, and sooner than later, without pain/ secondary trauma. Thank you for your excellent comment. Admiration.

Very kind of you to take the time to share this info. I sought government funded therapy(there may be a waitlist) & worked w/2 psychologists that were great. I initially started therapy w/a clinical psychotherapist through a referral from a friend. All of these practitioners worked specifically w/trauma. Make sure your practitioner is licensed - you can expect that to be so w/government funded therapy. If medication is your goal a psychiatrist or GP can fulfill that. For therapy, I am not a big fan of psychiatrists, b/c, in my experience they favour meds. Please do not fall into the grip of self anointed gurus like Teal Swan. If access to legitimate therapy is scarce in your community try a crisis helpline or ask your doctor for help. Some therapists work on a sliding scale or may be able to put you on a payment plan - the former is likely an additional resource that is at least partially government funded. Be well & Take Care ❤

In Hindu philosophy, the concepts of Purusha and Prakriti are central to understanding the nature of existence and the relationship between the individual and the universe. Purusha refers to the cosmic spirit or consciousness. It is often described as unchanging, eternal, and transcendent. Purusha is pure awareness and is associated with the aspect of the divine that remains unchanged amidst the changing phenomena of the universe. Prakriti, on the other hand, represents the material world, nature, and the realm of manifestation. It encompasses all the physical elements, energies, and forces that make up the universe. Prakriti is characterized by constant change and flux. According to Hindu philosophy, the entire universe is a manifestation of the interplay between Purusha and Prakriti. Purusha, as the cosmic consciousness, remains untouched and unaffected by the changes in Prakriti. Prakriti, on the other hand, undergoes constant transformation, giving rise to the diversity and multiplicity observed in the universe.The idea that we are an expansion of the universe and that we are our own "god" can be understood within this framework. It suggests that at a fundamental level, our consciousness (Purusha) is interconnected with the universal consciousness, and our existence is an expression of the divine unfolding of Prakriti. In this sense, we are not separate from the universe but are intrinsic parts of it, experiencing life and reality through the lens of individual consciousness. This interpretation emphasizes the inherent divinity within each individual and the interconnectedness of all beings with the cosmic whole. It invites introspection, self-awareness, and recognition of the divine essence within ourselves and the world around us. Teal's discussion about how she doesn't "look up" to someone is part of the above hindu theory about Purusha and Prakriti, claiming that we are our own 'god,' as tiny particles of the universe. While not everyone may be familiar or agree with this concept, it's intriguing to see parallels between quantum physics and these ancient beliefs. When Teal expresses that she doesn't look up to someone, it's akin to the idea of following one's instincts and needs, rather than conforming to others' expectations-a principle reminiscent of the biblical admonition against having other gods. It's about appreciating others while staying true to our own path and instincts, without necessarly having a "role models" Ultimately Teal is not a guru, nor a crazy person, she just presents a perspective on how to "let go", follow your intuition (guts) and keep an open mind (be non judgmental), so that the laws of the universe will "direct" you to what you need.

Just watch at the positions of hands, face and body, If they do change drastically from one shot to the next I can assure you the timeline and the dialogue has been heavilu edited. Specially when in the next shot they revert to the same position they adopted before. I used to watch Teal’s videos and I’ve gotten some value from her words. As someone who has experienced suicidal ideation myself, I do not feel there is any safe way for me to let those thoughts play out in a fantasy where I actually end my life. Even if a licensed professional were offering this technique in a controlled, “safe” environment I would personally never participate. I also would never recommend, and would likely intervene if someone I know and care about wanted to. My opinion is that Teal’s intent doesn’t really matter, if what she’s doing is potentially nurturing suicidal thought or fantasy. I believe that Teal has experienced trauma, and that it’s possible she’s not healed enough to have the platform she has. Good intentions + low empathy = not for me

I have dipped in and out of Teal Swan's videos over a number of years whilst healing my own C-PTSD. Some of the processes she used were incredibly helpful and a lot more gentle than the ones depicted here. However. I am incredibly sensitive to manipulation and body language, both through being autistic (and finding it very hard to understand someone's intention, hence being overly aware that I am naive) and through the trauma, and could automatically see that Teal's childhood experience of abuse and being trapped within a cult has left her with a deep anger towards anyone without emotional intelligence, and a fierce determination to protect and save every victim on the planet. It's no real surprise that she wants her Inner Circle to contain people who know exactly where she is coming from who are equally dedicated to the role - at least she makes that abundantly clear. A great review, Spidey, thanks!

I can relate int he sense of being autistic and sensetive to the body language etc. I don't always know what it means...I get confused a lot but I do get major gut punches. I learned this by my husband being able to point out a situation in retrospect then I was many times like "OH that's why I felt weird..." Lol 🤣 TS seems narcissistic to me. Narcissists can develop from trauma. So I'm not trying to shame her...but a lot of her tactics seem to revolve around remaining a victim in an odd ironic way. The defensive "I'm not a victim, I'm not a VICTIM!!" Someone else: "No one said you are!" People similar to TS: "I SAID I'M NOT A VICTIM!!!" (The refusal to move on from that idea as a whole). There are many inappropriate times she brings up things like that and obsesses over reliving it, or being child-like instead of focusing more on the results ofoving on, and how to stay on track. I was interested in how she talked about boundaries, but she contradicts herself a ton. She has obvious boundary issues. It's clear in her use of language. She seems to feel she has and should have more power over other's experiences instead of promoting more self-reliance. She talks about self-reliance but doesn't seem to promote that through what she actually explains and suggests....that's just my two cents. I used to sub to her but I definitely would tread carefully. I do remember about a year ago my husband and I did the cube test and it was fun and very telling. We actually became a lot closer and understood ourselves better after. 😊🦋

On her channel, she has a video that exposes some of their deceptive editing compared to actual footage of what happened. One in particular really struck me. The water exercise was edited to make it appear that they were essentially waterboarding people. When you watch what the actual exercise entailed, including the instructions from the clinician and the full session by one of the participants, you can FEEL the level of love, comfort, and support that they were given through that exercise. It seemed to be an incredibly powerful and healing exercise. Regardless of how anyone feels about Teal Swan, people should see what lengths were taken to depict her in this light. And hopefully, will be a reminder to everyone that everything you watch is intended to make you feel or believe a certain way and that you should always question the validity of everything you consume.

I genuinely believe that Teal feels in her heart that she wants to help people and believes her methods can do so. After listening to Gateway and a few other videos, I get the impression that she may actually be sincere. I believe that she understands in her line of work that there will always be potential for harm but also for great benefit, just as with anything in life, and her ability to remain calm and stoic is not a reflection of narcissism, but her acceptance of the reality of living a human existence. Now was this realization reached by her psyche as a way to protect her, quite possibly. That being said, I do not follow her teachings or engage with her content (anymore though I once did about 5 or so years ago). I have no skin in the game. Purely curiosity. Seeing all of this unfold and seeing people question her because she sometimes expresses very human emotions, such as anger, is interesting in light of how spiritual texts have portrayed other spiritual figures such as Jesus flipping the table or getting angry at his disciples (I’m only using this example because of my lived experience.) Also, really makes you curious what it may have been like to experience that time. Like overall public perception versus followers and such. You know. Humans are fascinating.

There was a practice that required us to open and see what was making us stuck. She asked each of us what we thought would get us moving in our lives. I told her about the conversation I had with about trusting her. And her immediate response was "How does trusting me help your life?" I don't know much about narcissism, or megalomania... but I have an inkling that this would not have been her response if her plot was to hook me into some kind of ponzi scheme. When I explained further what I was going through - She essentially said "Ah, so this will help you trust people. What do you guys need me for?" And she quite literally almost danced away. No resistance to my message, no thoughts about herself inserted into my problems. It wad the first time I met someone who heard what I said that and had a candid conversation about me without getting triggered - and that has stuck with me ever since. I'm not saying she is or isn't anything - just she didn't anywhere near strike me as narcissistic. It's hard to have conversations about yourself with a them and with her is was east breezy. Not only that, but the curveball was full of people who challenged her and she never let it go to her head. I'm only saying, don't believe the shows please, go and see for yourself what she's like. I didn't know anything about her before February, but I'm glad I met her.

@user-mk4or5yu9reveryone is at a different place of perception. The man who discovered that cleaning his hands before surgery or assisting in birth was mocked and ridiculed to the point his career was ruined and he committed suicide. He was at a higher perception than everyone else. To those that mocked him, he was a loon. A five year old won’t understand what a twelve year old will. People with low iq’s will never be able to grasp higher concepts but instead of acknowledging their shortcomings, they mock and ridicule. Don’t be that person.

Thank you for making this video. I've been following Teal Swan for a while now and many things she says resonate with me. I do also understand how people can feel the complete opposite about her, because she is quite rigid in what she believes in. I appreciate you explaining why she isn't a narcissist. People use that term for anyone who thinks too highly of themselves, but there's much more to it and I agree a true narcissist would never talk about their self doubts on camera the way she does. I think this video is very balanced and fair. While some things she does seems misguided (regained memories are usually fake and can be very harmful), she also does really help people. The video about suicide is controversial. I do understand some of the things she says should only be used within a controlled environment with a licensed therapist, but on the other hand, many people who are suicidal never see a professional and she does provide resources that do help people. I've had worse advice from therapists and doctors, with one of them even dismissing my suicidal thoughts because 'I can't know I'm suicidal because I've never attempted suicide'. Her video actually helped me, personally, so there's that. Do I think she's the Messiah? Oh hell no, and I'm afraid sometimes she does think she is, but I don't care, I just take what benefits me or my loved ones and appreciate her for that. Thank you for allowing that space for your followers, to make their own decisions and do what's best for them.

I had no idea there was this level of “controversy” around Teal Swan. I stumbled upon her content in the last week, after years of personal deep healing work, growth and development, oblivious to her otherwise. It started with one video and turned into a binge session because I deeply resonated with a lot of she says. I found myself nodding along and feeling validated from having experienced what she talks about personally, and I love how she articulates herself. Your bang on at catching the editing around how she speaks, so kudos! Hence why I’m a bit shocked. I can’t speak to the actual therapeutic work she does and her “followers”, but I can say I absolutely appreciate her content on KZbin. And I consider myself a pretty rational person with a lot of awareness of self and others; not someone who would be easily manipulated or in a vulnerable position. Thanks for your video and due diligence. 😊

as a social worker.. I honestly think Teal Swan is great. Why? Because in the mental health world we are not brave enough. A lot of people don’t feel truely helped. Truely understood. Peope can appreciate when you stand next to their pain, give it space and try in intergrate it again. I have worked at the high intensive care groups with youngsters who are extremely suicidal. Dening their feelings, trying to distract them from it.. isnt working. And that’s what 95% of the time is happening. We must be more brave with true trust in our intuition and be authentic.

There’s something I picked up from watching Chase on the behaviour panel that I think is worth adding to the discussion. When watching these clips try to determine what she is concerned about. According to me, she’s not concerned with helping these people, it’s her personal success that drives her. In that context, I can believe that she could be reckless and irresponsible as well as selling ideas that sound good but have no actual benefit. This makes her, in my opinion, a very dangerous person Also, not 100% convinced she’s not a narcissist. The statement she makes that Spidey talks about is a manipulative statement and it elevates her techniques to being an absolute. That’s also a massage for the ego regardless of how it’s prefixed.

I disagree. I’ve worked in this field for a long time. I wouldn’t necessarily use all her techniques ( which are all combinations of other techniques that have been around for some time), but her clients are willing participants & she’s not using sleep deprivation , & other tactics to break spirit as a cult would do. She may have an ego & like things done her way, but that does not mean it’s a cult… it’s her approach that is a little more aggressive that can trigger responses so people can acknowledge , address & integrate or release painful emotions & reframe one’s trauma so they can move on. It wouldn’t be something I would try but I can definitely see how this could help some people.

One can argue any which way, but every clause in her contract is asking people to sign up for being abused, to fully dedicate their entire life to her purpose, to give themselves up for her entirely. Can't make family first priority, can't have boundaries that contradict those of Teals, wow! This was eye opening. Thank you for sharing that. This is not "she has a big purpose or ego", this is a cult-behavior with emotional abuse. What saddens me is that people sign up for it. What shocks me is that she is sitting there looking like a sad ghost shell completely oblivious to why Blake left. He has had enough of her abuse. I'm glad he left. Good for him!

The reason why I value Teal Swan is because what she has been able to overcome in her life. I believe she still suffers from that as an individual and one just have to take that into consideration. But I don't think she is dangerous. The real problem is that she brings out topics people fear and have resistance to. Your perspective on things changes dramatically when you get suicidal and intensely experience something that is worse than fear of death. I can imagine how triggering her video (it is titled "What to do if you are suicidal" kzbin.info/www/bejne/nWmZmaWbfryZp7M) would be for me if I have never been there. I understand this. But now I can relate to this topic and I agree with literally everything she says here.

The suicide video helped me in a way I feel like no other method had. After losing my husband and eldest son along with so many other stressors, I had an attempt. If someone is suicidal, they are already thinking of it. The rest of that Teal Swan video is inspiring and realistic, pragmatic and logical. I'm still not sure if she's running a cult but I would defend using other work...isn't that what we do.when we learn concepts. Schools are a repository where we learn past knowledge in every subject so why set the standard she use only her unique concepts? We wouldn't have Jung without Freud, etc.

I used to like her old videos she seemed more open and lovely, now she gives me an extremely rigid vibe. I watched her video about suicide after feeling suicidal and gave up the idea and I do agree with what she said... sometimes people don't want to be told how everyone will miss them and suffer because of this , this is exactly what suicidal people don't need to be told, that their act will burden others, while their existence and mental health already is a burden for those around them...

NEVER would she have someone go in a room with another traumatized person and relive that trauma!! 🤦♀ it is frustrating bc these kinds of trauma processing can really help people who have experienced extreme trauma and it is already hard enough to make therapy accessible to people who need it. people like Teal Swan who do have a larger platform are really doing a disservice by either giving people harmful advice or scaring the crap out of people who may actually benefit from something like EMDR therapy 😞

No-one questioned what he did with her on there visits . This went on until she was 19 years old. At one point he even had her electrocuted and then became her savior by releasing her from the pain. The "tough love approach" adopted by any spiritual instructor is fundamentally a tactic to keep people below you, to wear you down. This can create a trauma bond with the client and the tough love coach, and/or the interrorgator. Many years ago i was spiritually raped by a "spiritual guru" I realised that in order to heal i needed to remove myself from "aggressive, tough love gurus" as the violence of language was bonding me with their energy. In our healing journey from Trauma we must find a place of loving safety, that is the first step to recovery. The second step is to find someone, hopefully a good therapist who will allow you to express your emotions and tell your story so that your story is no longer locked inside your heart.....Opening up about what happened to you will send a signal to your nervous system that YOU ARE HEARD. May all souls be blessed with healing and transformation.

Teil's techniques if you ask me is about not allowing people to hide from their shadows and pushing them to see what they've been hiding from and facing it head on. Imo she's the last resort teacher who's willing to tell someone to go deep into their inner self and find that thing they are hiding from and have a conversation with it. It's not for everyone but I think it's for people who have done or tried everything else. Her teachings is a trail by fire and it will test every fiber in your being, put your body in overdrive to kill a fever. Ofc it doesn't feel good to go directly into the eye of the storm but if you make it out on the other side you'll be better off knowing more about yourself than you otherwise would have if you did not do it and hopefully be healing afterwards. People healing is never easy it doesn't matter who the teacher is and people put Teil too high on a peddle stool themselves so they have to knock her down a few pegs. Not all therapy needs to be coddling, too many people are starlight up slandering her so unfairly because they don't like seeing people going through hell to shake off a fever. We need variety and different types of practices because we have a great range and a variety of people to deal with, this fixation on who's a better therapist is ridicules some practitioners will just dope you up and send you on your way, never solving the problem. People walk around with this false notion that one you find a therapist they should be able to identify what's wrong with you and fix you. 1 that's up to the person if they are actually trying to get fixed or just running and 2 if that therapist specifically right for them. No 2 therapist is the same and not all of them operate under the same school of thought and they will not tell you that in fear it might cause you to talk away. Some therapist are spiritual some are religious there are so many different schools of thought in therapy there is no black or white. Therapy is a journey so each individual has to find out which type of therapist will work for them and some are just lucky enough they run into the correct therapist on their first try so they don't have to think about what worked, why it did, who's better than who or have a false notion that you shouldn't have to change therapist to get the correct treatment. People always want an easy fix and if something does not fit their nerritive there's something wrong, now we must search for the boogyman, this is just irrational thinking.

I believe that some aspects of the trauma that needs to be addressed does require at least some “tough love” in order to be affective it must be applied when appropriate. However, absolutely there needs to be a balance and temperature gauging process on the practitioners part. Of course it requires a lot of emotional intelligence that most people have difficulty accessing. Objective observation without the lens of bias. True empathy is difficult and navigating through situations with someone else’s perspectives in mind is tremendously tricky. I believe that Teal Swan has done an excellent job at identifying issues with compassion without evading the responsibility or accountability of the sufferer. She calls others to be conscious and evaluate on an objective level. Being empathetic compassionate aware of hypocrisy and privileges while empowering is a difficult balance most “healers and gurus” lack. Teal is pretty good imo.

The section on channelling the participants family members is very similar to family constellation therapy which I have done personal work with and found very helpful. Everything that was channelled to me through those sessions completely resonated and were more specific to my family dynamics than the vague conversations shown in the clips. As a therapist who works from both spiritual and psychological sides, I cam say that many of her techniques and practices used are standard spiritual healing methods which she mixes with her self led knowledge of psychology. In my journey through spiritual healing I have have practiced all of these and more. I have always found them all helpful and now use many with my own clients but as always, everyone is different and heals differently and has different experiences. This is no different than in the medical field as she mentions and the whole field of psychology could use an overhaul if we are ever to see leaps and bounds in the mental health realm. Which we desperately need. Look at the numbers of mental health cases, diagnosis and pharmaceutical prescriptions doled out by the millions. Science only gets us so far but to heal the mind, you must free the soul. That is my mantra for my therapy practice and what I base my own practices on 💫

I get the sense that covering cults can be unnecessarily sensitive. I left a cult and have since been curious to understand why we join, and why most can't leave... and there is never a good cult. The positive aspects are not the worth their destructiveness. Why can't we scrutinise them more openly?

I think by the very definition, cults cannot be "good" (i.e., healthy) because they require ppl to cut family ties, give up personal boundaries, etc. In return, the cult promises leadership, close community, and healing... and I think that this promise is exactly what draws ppl in. Our brains are needs-meeting machines, and feeling like we have found a place where we can meet deeply unmet needs from childhood is a powerful thing

I wasn't in a wide cult but I was close to some people who kinda started an " underground " cult . I knew them before they started their cult , and I was more of an insider who had access to information those who followed their platform didn't have... most cults seek for people who are in pain, who look for meaning in their lives, people who are unwell and not so experienced in anything related to spirituality, so they are in a fresh state , willing to "learn " form these people who created the cult. People who create cults can wish to help others, but they lack the awareness of seeing how their minds are clouded by personal beliefs and bias, they end up thinking their "way" is the best and have become so convinced of this that they give themselves the idea that this is their purpose, to make others live like they do , but fail to understand how we are all different ,and if their methods worked for them , it doesn't mean it's the absolute truth and it will work for everyone. Some might have started with good intentions , but became highly delusional in the end. I don't know whi everyone else has joined a cult, but my personal experience was more of a lesson on what to avoid from now on in my spiritual journey. I was looking for someone to guide me ,since there's a lot of content online, hundreds of books on spiritual topics, so a mentor would have been helpful to tell me which book is bs and use their knowledge to help me. If I would have not been in direct contact with my mentors I would have never caught the red flags, because online they were extremely open and ok with everyone, but in private they became rigid and manipulative.

Great video! I think Teal could benefit from checking in with herself more related to her ego. And sometimes it seems her intense belief in her methods could cause her to forget they aren’t infallible. But I don’t think she’s a monster, cult leader, or dangerous per se. Seeing how the documentary edited things in such a way that actually presented lies, it’s hard to not believe that all of the footage in the documentary was distorted. I watched some of the footage Teal presented without those edits & the agenda of the documentary is more shocking than what they presented. Very malicious. The biggest issue I had was the channeling. It’s seems inauthentic. I can see how similarly role playing could be an important tool to getting closure/healing tho. I think at the end of the day, it’s important for ppl who seek council, advice, healing, etc to remember that the ppl providing those things are human. They may be advanced in many areas, but still just ppl. Take what resonates & is helpful, and discard the rest. Side note: Ppl could also apply the “cult potential” list of 5 things u mentioned & apply it to many other organizations. Evangelical Christianity as I experienced it, checked every single box. It’s a list we should all probably keep in the back of our minds when checking in/directing our own lives. I love your content (I appreciate how u never tell ppl what to think, just present info & invite thinking about the topic), and The Behavioral Panel too! Interesting & fun stuff!!

as a dramatherapist i would say, that the people who "channeled" a family situation for this women, might have actually brought in their own themes that are important for them at the moment. Play is a way of dealing with what moves us internally or externally. seems like ...what the people gave as a feedback after "channeling" where interpretations of what they percieved; coloured with their own thoughts and suspicions. this can really be disturbing, hearing that their has been abuse. thats dangerous right there and confusing if we just take everything thats said for granted

My mom was incredibly abusive sexually to me my entire life, At the moment she was abusing me, I would have still sent her a happy birthday video, because when your brainwashed your brainwashed. The fact that her the crew sent her happy birthday video does not correlate whatsoever whether she's a good person or not. I don't really understand the point of that correlation, because people have loved their cult leaders and their abusers since Cults and abusers have existed.
@namelessbrat71972 жыл бұрын
Good point.
@Hairy_Takoyaki2 жыл бұрын
You can't see the correlation because you've misunderstood what he was trying to do, point out the incongruency (incompatible, opposites) of the birthday videos and the overall nature of the documentary that they made. In your comparison to your situation with your mother, it wan't corelating between you (the documentary crew) and your mother (Teal) but the incongruency of, say, your mother sending you a nice birthday video and yet at the same time abuses you. Implying that you would have sent happy birthday videos because you were conditioned by your mother would imply that there is also an abuser/victim relationship between them (which there isn't) and neither is there a situation where the crew did so because they "loved their cult leader" because if they were intentionally setting out to expose a cult, the one thing they would make damn sure of is to be absolutely guarded of any mind controlling techniques work on them!

The problem I had with the channeling (besides that I didn’t buy it) is that, especially with the second example…it monetises abuse in a way. I am having trouble with the channeling part, to me that makes this all feel like a big scam. I have been wishing for a while that a body language expert or behavior analyst would make a video on psychic mediums. I believe that since you have a background as an illusionist etc you can explain really well how they operate. Though I can appreciate that some people might temporarily feel better to hear from loved ones from the other side I keep wishing they'd spend their money on real therapy. I see people desperately hang on (spending money again and again on readings) instead of getting help to move on. I would really like to see you explain how these famous mediums can do what they do, what do they look for in the other persons body language and behavior that lets them know they are "on the right track" and what can we tell from the mediums own body language and behavior during these readings?

As a Christian I believe "mediums" can in fact access information which they ought not to be able to know or discern in order to prove themselves to their victims. The issue is that it isn't coming from the deceased person, it's coming from devils who were watching them and then in contact with the "medium". Dabbling with such occult practices is never a good idea.
@dudeorduuude52112 жыл бұрын
But you have to look at the purpose of it, from the long human history of shamanic, spiritual leaders. There is a theatric, so the audience is put into the framework that they should pay attention, and the wisdom is coming and ir is otherworldly. If what the person us saying resonates, take it. If it doesn't, leave it. Many "channelers" talk in circles. A few have things that make people feel better. It may also be just a personification of that wiser part if themselves. This stuff I just take lightly, don't give it weight.

@@cattraknoff lol you’re WAY OFF! No one is “Psychic” ok? This is coming from a Tarot Reader by night and an Operating Room Surgical Technician during the day. I’m not about Teal Swan. She’s def a narcissist 1,000% but we ALL have the ability to access parts of our brain that would make you question your reality. We all have the ability to tap into parts of ourselves unknown. It’s not help from demons, gods or angels. We all are made of stardust and Godlight.
