A new trend has taken over TikTok Live. The trend is being called NPC live streams which entails people, mainly women, acting like non-player characters from video games, and making tons of money doing it.

Idk what's worse: women acting like literal NPCs for money or men that have reached such a level of desperation that they're giving so much money for it.

90% of tik tok
@WhatTheWHAT524
@WhatTheWHAT524 10 ай бұрын
While I do not personally have a tik tok nor will I ever, from everything I have seen heard and read, well I actually almost feel like 90% is being generous haha. UGH👀🤔🤦 I find it genuinely heartbreaking that kids and young adults especially, are being encouraged to do nonsense like this rather than encouraging them to find something they love and are passionate about. Something they succeed at. Instead creativity, self expression(unless their self identity is their entire identity and/or fits the "woke" narrative) Such as art, music or anything of that nature that has stopped being encouraged, even not being available to access anything like that in many schools to my understanding. It's insane to me. Heaven forbid more people actually do something worth while with their platforms. Big or small. It would be so wonderful to see people with actual talents or with something educational or positively informative (for most of us positive any way). Sorry for the rant..and the rambling. Besides exhaustion and really bad health I get frustrated and flustered when thinking and talking about all this ridiculous nonsense happening in the world lol. Anyway wishing everyone the best!

@grotesquehead322
@grotesquehead322 11 ай бұрын
You're looking at this the wrong way; this sort of thing is a side effect of disposable income. The only way to get rid of all manner of effortless moneymaking would be to plunge our entire civilization into extreme poverty. I for one would rather live in a prosperous, productive society wherein people have money to throw at people creative enough to find ways to make them part with it, than a society afflicted with crushing poverty, where everyone works very hard for their money. Furthermore, this "work" is not without it's difficulties; for all the physical hardship of a blue collar job, it comes with its own psychological hardships. If it was as simple as you are making it out to be, everyone would be doing it. Yet most would never consider performing in such a way; they would rather keep their dignity intact.
@_Sunset_Dino_
@_Sunset_Dino_ 11 ай бұрын
@@grotesquehead322 nothing about what those people are doing is “productive”. I’m making it sound simple simply because it is. I am glad that most would choose their own dignity over acting like a video game character. You made a good point, this is a side effect of disposable income, but there are much better ways of going about getting rid of it. Do you want to live in a society known for giving money to have naked people pretending to be npc’s while saying stupid phrases? I for one, would like to live in a society known for giving to the poor and helping other societies out.

I cant lie, this is the trend that finally made me erase social media from my phone. One of the videos was shared by somebody I followed and i was just lost. Looked into it and watched a couple breakdowns explaining it. Finally made me take it off my phone. Had been spending a lot of time on instagram specifically, wanting to stop, this felt like the exact kind of brainrot spread that pushed me to quit. Something about social media is making us not only make these videos and not question what we're doing with our lives, but also watch them and give money for them. Had a real existential crisis

But now for some weird reason we've literally created millions of Kim Ks and that type of stuff is now popular, being pushed and supported the most. Really is mind blowing. I blame guys. I think it’s also becoming a trend because “prawn” is so accessible and so prevalent that these people are bored with it so they look for the weirdest things to fetishize.

I worked construction almost a decade and I’ve seen so many guys doing backbreaking physical labor for 8 hours a day plus whatever ot they could get and they were highly skilled workers that were experts in electrical, plumbing, carpentry, hvac etc. Sometimes their regular hours plus ot wasn’t enough and they worked side jobs too. Even though they were working themselves to death and forget about having any time for yourself, u barely have time to spend with your family. And then there’s these wastes of life making more money then they’ll ever need doing absolutely nothing with no talent and no skills and yet they’ll still complain about nonsense. It’s beyond sad and makes me absolutely Furious the fact that anybody can make so much money for nothing

"People crave mindless content". I think so too, but I don't have a tik tok account, I never had one. I think the most mindless things I watch are funny compilations of cats and dogs, or "fail of the week" things. The fact that people do stupid things like this trend doesn't surprise me. The fact that other people do not verify their ideas and encourage them by literally throwing money at them surprises me very much. Humanity seems to be taking big steps backwards.

When I saw some of these videos that my co-worker was talking about on how stupid people are getting, I watched like 5 seconds of I think that lady that apprently started it all and then closed the tab. I asked him "What are we talking about" as my mind was just completely rejecting what I just saw... Unreal!
