I'd guess the "wall" you had to push through in the first 20 seconds was not a self-limiting belief but a very real adaptive response trying to motivate you to get the f**k out of a situation that could lead to hypothermia.

I’ve done this before and I started to breath really rapidly and I had to try and control my breath it was like a panic attack and I just pushed through and then after like 20 seconds it instantly went away and then I started to feel calm.

Always start with cold showers and not at the coldest setting. Increase time and go colder over time. It’s like working out.

I'm a nervous system specialist for 58 years having been born with Eczema. Tried everything to no avail. Then this came into my life in 2018. Now I'm in control and barely ever suffer. Looks like you're getting a bum steer from somewhere. Try it for yourself eh!
