I'd guess the "wall" you had to push through in the first 20 seconds was not a self-limiting belief but a very real adaptive response trying to motivate you to get the f**k out of a situation that could lead to hypothermia.

I’ve done this before and I started to breath really rapidly and I had to try and control my breath it was like a panic attack and I just pushed through and then after like 20 seconds it instantly went away and then I started to feel calm.

It’s funny because that “calm” is your body shutting down, lmao. Well, moving all your heat and blood to protect what is most important before shutting down.

You are basically evoking the flight or fight response that’s why people feel the so-called energising effect. It’s a very dangerous situation to be in and as time goes on his methods will be regarded as nonsense.

No harm in not. Scientifically, there’s very little evidence about any benefits it may have and loads about possible risks if you’re not in peak (or close to) shape medically.

Always start with cold showers and not at the coldest setting. Increase time and go colder over time. It’s like working out.

My cousin did this and ended up having to call the ambulance after because she was in severe pain and couldn't walk. So it doesn't work for everyone. Different people, different reactions.
