That method of farming was very common many years ago. There were hedgerows where wildlife could shelter. Corn and wheat were 'shocked' to provide shelter and even some food 'waste' from the less efficient farm practices. Berry bushes were left growing along hedgerows. Asparagus and other crops of natural wild food, were always left undisturbed. Who could forget 'poke salad' and chicory, along with the nut trees in groves, all open, free for public consumption?
@annedelay94575 жыл бұрын
Blogengezer Dear Blogengezer, my brother thought that many of the older practices had some wisdom and practiced them. He was a subsistence farmer. He called his corners his tithe to God to be given to the gleaners be they animal or human. He always had plenty for his family, bounty for relatives. With an engineer's mind he made a terraced pond chain that captured water and saved many wild animals when we had that horrible drought Texas had years ago. He tinker with wood gasification and converted his truck. He and I would have coffee together and watch the sunrise. He was far more knowledgeable about Cherokee history but I knew more about general western and plains Indian history. He said Cherokee were always good farmers. Gold and rich farm land were too tempting a target.

The best part was when there were two of them and you see them bantering back and forth and kissing. Just reminds us all that at the end of the day, we’re all want the same things.We all want food, companionship and a place to call home (even under the shed). Favorite line: we can coexist together!

@Mad Media I totally agree. The "We coexist" POV can only be used if one of the side isn't threatening the other by coexisting together. Basically the same deal with mosquitoes. You barely see anyone protecting mosquitoes because they are threat to us. If one side of the relationship starts threatening the other, that's when crap gets real.
