A quick look at the recent events surrounding the suspension of development for Imperator Rome and how the slow death of Rome maybe have led to the disastrous release of Europa Universalis Leviathan.

This is sad, even though I haven't played Imperator Rome. It could have been a good game but we are not able to do anything about it.

I fell in love with imperator after 2.0, fully realizing its potential. Then they killed it, right when I started seeing it's real potential as a game. Its heartbreaking, I'm tempted to start my own project like HPM for imperator to add flavor where it desperately needs it

I did not even buy or play I:R and I feel heartbroken now... A lot of people are angry (and rightfully so) against the company, but I'm more worried than anything. I like strategy games a lot, and by that I mean I just want to live more of it, more historical content being brought to life. Make an Eu4 Dev Diary featuring 2 new provinces, one new tag and one new culture; or an HOI4 DD showcasing a new focus branch for a minor country and a state rework; and you've got me all hyped up for something I will barely notice anymore 2 months later, I'll just see the previous version as something primitive and "unplayable". And when I'll get bored, I'll remember that the Steam Workshop exists and the potential fun I'll have can be multiplied by infinity. I also like Civ V (the Civ VI artstyle is just not for me: everything looks like it's made of dough and the colors are so bright they hurt my eyes, but I'm pretty sure I don't have a normal eyesight), but Civ is a sandbox at its core, it's something I play when I want to see "WOW number go big :) ", I don't get immersion from it nor can I create my own narrative like I did all these years with Victoria II, Hearts of Iron 4, and EU4.

I bought Imperator Rome when it came out and it was pretty unplayable. I gave it chances as time went on but even I just couldn’t get into it. So in all honesty, I’m definitely ok with this ending development. I just hope that Johan is able to step it up with regards to quality again because Leviathan was just as bad as Imperator

Let's hope the new unannounced game doesn't suffer a similar fate :\

He embarked into making Imperator, he poisoned the game with insane abstractions and bad game design practices (lack of playtesting), he abandoned the game to its own and can't do any good with eu4. We can feel sorry for him, we can acknowledge his achievements, but i can't help but think that he should rediscover himself in regards to making games.

I don't understand why Paradox refuses to make Vic3. So many people ask for it and then they come with this and are surprised why nobody is really into it.
@TheIronWorkshop3 жыл бұрын
I think that IR was a stepping stone to Victoria 2, it has a well functioning POP system and trade also seems to be on the level (from what I've read about the game)... Not to mention that globe type of map which could be really cool for Victoria 3.

@@TheIronWorkshop I really hope so. I am just more interested in games set in recent history, at least at the moment. Who knows maybe Vic3 will be announced this year.

I would like to ask about Hearts of Iron IV. I created 3 new ideologies and I do not see them in the country window. How can I fix it? I would like to see all ideologies.
@user-hk5fo1nm9h3 жыл бұрын
This could mean that they are spooked on Victoria III. Which could be a shame since Imperator was not embraced by the core community as much as VicIII would be. I worry they want only games like stellaris or worse (stellaris is great but they seem to just want the open nature of it, like with much worse games like surviving the aftermath).
@TheIronWorkshop3 жыл бұрын
Paradox seem to have given up on historical games and moved on to sandboxes, but it's hard to blame them since it seems to be selling so they are only responding to what the market wants...
@user-hk5fo1nm9h3 жыл бұрын
@@TheIronWorkshop I think victoria would still do well, it's fairly open ended and an impressive simulation. Paradox can try and be more sandbox but they risk just blending in with all the civ and strategy games already out there. Honestly if you know tropico, I would love to see them make a city builder like that set in a small german city state in the 1800s. Partly because I hate how weak the simulation in cities skylines is.

Game is beautiful, interesting time period and fair war system, IMO it does everything vic2 and eu4 do but better.

After giving it a decent shot I admit it is a good game but gets dull in mod/late game especially if you are playing a major power like Rome... luckily we have mods to fix that :)

Really doubt its becoming a cult game. The content is way too barebones. The reason Victoria II became a cult classic was because it was pretty complete and barely needed an DLC to complete the experience.

Since 2.0, I find that it’s the best game paradox has right now. It’s a shame it couldn’t recover from the launch and the first couple attempts at fixing it.
