Considering the importance of sake as a symbol of connecting people, it's interesting to note that Kaido, a "failed Joyboy" in his own right is largely characterized by his alcohol abuse and drinking alone.

That combined with the idea that Kaido is obviously obsessed with the legends of the past like Oden or Joyboy who managed to keep the treasure alive in the spirit of the world around them but instead focusing on that, he obsesses about their death! He thinks that the reason it all matters is their death! And that's why he wants his own so bad! He's not trying to loose, he's trying to become unconqurable, like those who came before him. To be the man who couldnt even be defeated in death, Joyboy. But he's missing the whole point! Just drinking yourself to death for the sake of it will bring nothing but destruction. Yamato on the other hand saw what Oden did like Joyboy before him and understood the point of it. To keep that spirit alive, he decided to live as his own hero instead of dying like him.

Remember friends, Oda started writing One Piece in 1997 when he was 22 years old. I cannot even express what this series means to me, having grown up and starting to read it around the Impel Down arc. Watching your video made me cry and laugh, and I know that on the day Oda passes away I will have a toast of sake as tribute to him, even though we've never met. People only die when they are forgotten.. You will live on forever Oda, as will your dream of a One Piece.

Story time: A lot of years ago I learned (half assedly) to play Bink´s Sake on the piano. I´d play it at random times during the day because I thought it was a Slapper and never thought much else of it. This was as Sabaody was just getting released in the anime. Now my sister started One Piece a couple of months ago. And a few weeks ago she got to Thriller Bark. As Brook played Bink´s Sake she told me that she felt weirdly nostalgic about the song just like Robin said she felt She then realized that it was because I used to play it and she still remembered it on the back of her mind. Couldn´t have given her a more immersive experience of the series if I tried xD

Exactly. Thats one part that sold me, as an artist you want to bring the story to places you want to draw. Oda said himself he absolutely loves to draw party scenes with tons of characters, it would make perfect sense for the stories climax to be the biggest fullest party scene he’s ever drawn

Someone pointed out somewhere in the comments that Kaidou represents a perversion of both sharing sake (a selfish alcoholic) and Inherited Will (obsessed with meaningful death without regard for what that meaning is), and I think that major antagonists of One Piece can be thematically identified as a perversion of various traits of Inherited Will and the Romance Dawn. Arlong: Racial supremacist; inherently opposed to peace between all peoples. Crocodile: Wanted to obtain the Ancient Weapons for the sake of power; had no regard with the purpose for which they were meant to be used. Blackbeard: Only cares about where his own destiny can take him. Enel: Wanted to find paradise; had no interest in sharing that paradise. Lucci: Blind subservience to establishment. Moriah: Can't let go of the past; obsessed with preventing himself from losing people he cares about again. Hordy Jones: Inherited Will; twisted the legacy of Fisher Tiger to justify racial divide. Doflamingo: Values family above all else, but cares for no one outside his family. Big Mom: Wants to gather all peoples under her banner, but doesn't care about peace between those peoples. I think the opening words "everything in THIS world" took on a whole new meaning with Dr. Vegapunk's revelation that devil fruits get their power from other demention/reality. Your theory has actually snapped something in my brain that was always a flaw in a theory that I've always believed in with all my heart: that the Strawhat's dreams are all going to be fullfilled at once. Most of them can be easily explained with the finding of One Piece, All Blue, reaching the last Island and everything you meticulously explained in your video. But I was never able to figure out Chopper. How could that bring the cure to all diseases? And then it hit watching this video: SAKE!! Drinking is the cure to all disease's, because even if it is for only that moment, drinking with your friends will melt all your worries away! It's even hinted at, because when faced with his imminent death, Hililuk DRANK. SAKE. I am. So happy. This is the most amazing One Piece video I have ever watched and I am so happy that I watched it. The guys who captured Luffy from the barrel he popped out from in episode 1, say "this is heavy, must be filled with booze then." Then Coby gets caught trying to retrieve the barrel from a room and says "I thought I'd haul this big barrel of alcohol over". Sake is what they thought was in the barrel, while it wasn't sake, it was something that connects people just like it. Great vid.

So I’m only about half way through where you talk about Binks’ Sake, but I like this theory cuz it ties together a lot of the crew. Brook’s love for music, Luffy’s joy and yearning for adventure, Sanji’s search for the All Blue, Zoro’s love of sake, etc.

I have just finished the video and I have no words. Thank you once again Artur for all the work you have put into these videos. Watching all of them has been an amazing journey, and seeing at the end of the video many representatives of the One Piece community from all over the world (including Spain, where I'm from) has put some tears in my eyes. Even if I don't make videos about One Piece (but about my trips and adventures around the world and what I learn while traveling, as the Straw Hats haha) I feel represented by these Spanish KZbinrs and it makes me very happy seeing them here! One Piece is a story that will be remembered forever and will never die, and I can't wait to get to the end of the series and celebrate when it is finished! For sure us all One Piece fans should do a massive party and exchange sake when it ends yohohoho, it would be amazing. P.s. Another huge foreshadow around the idea of sake being part of the One Piece or indeed the OP itself, is literally in chapter 2, in one of the most iconic moments of the beginning of the series, when Luffy first meets Coby, coming out of a literal barrel of sake!! I love that the end was already laid out at the first chapter which explains how Oda has been able to freely expand the story in such detail and also could have just ended it in one chapter. That would make it even more perfect because we often see Roger speak into the future, about how he feels towards the man he thinks is gonna get to experience it. He doesn't seem bitter, he's just happy he gets to share it with whoever is on the other side. He's passing on a drink to the rest of the world and also the son he will never meet. Who he thinks will be on the other side. Which because of sake the treasure we all share gets to happen despite of fate. Through sake not only is his son through blood there because Ace joined him in brotherhood. But also through will as Luffy carried his brothers light on when his fate cought up to him. Also I would like to mention this. In japanese terms, sake is refered to as "concentration of will of a human" where will is more close to determination. People seal the brew into a brewing vessel to put their wishes into it. It started with a tradition of wishing for good brew at the vessel. You know, Oda once stated that he is jealous of a manga called Your Lie in April(Romance manga in case you are wondering) due to that mangaka's ability to portray music in his work .I always thought it's strange that out of all the manga that he is associated with(being shounen battle manga), he found something like music in a manga that is in particular focused on romance and music, not battle, to be the thing that he is jealous off .I think it's because he wants to convey the message(or his song) in the best way possible to the reader to be as memorable as possible when this part of the story is revealed(as stated in Arthur's video).I think it's a stretch, to say the least, but imagine if that were the case.

You perfectly described my experience, I always have that same thought whenever I see any theory that looks strong enough (it also happened to me with the theory that Ohara shared some time ago for example, which I completely recommend to anyone who hasn't seen it, it actually fits almost perfectly with Arthur's, like they both complement each other). This leaves me wondering. If “The Laugh Tale” is an oral history someone probably was at Laugh Tale to orally pass it along. Brewing implies a brewer, so someone at Laugh Tale is brewing the sake while waiting for Joy Boy. A tale full of laughs!!" The framing cuts off what, or who, Roger is speaking to. Whether a ponyglyph, a statue, or a living person. But back to Inherited Will, Binks living alone doesn't defeat the purpose. Hiriluk is one example of it, passing on one's will and leaving the stage via death. Kureha is another in a series of precedents where their will is passed on and they leave the stage by retiring and chilling out. Take the will of the strawhat, we see both methods. Roger went the Hiriluk route. Shanks has taken the Kureha route. Crocus and Oden were at Laughtale and danced together. Oden took the Hiriluk route while Crocus took a more Kureha route with chilling at the lighthouse. Rayleigh similarly retired and sat back to watch the new generations once his time on the stage, in his view, had passed. Spoilers for more recent chapters. We see something interesting in the views of the yonko beyond Shanks. * Whitebeard in realizing his time has past goes out like Hiriluk. * Kaido in realizing wants to die, to go out memorably in a Hiriluk retirement, but ends up in a more Kureha position waiting on an island (Wano) to see who will come to fulfill the will he was unable to. Which writing those led me to realize Big Mom and Shanks also have an interesting reflection to each other. * Big Mom has given hints she's about resisting passing on her will and retaining control. * Shanks early on decided to bit on inherited will and the next generation. Supporting Luffy behind the scenes as needed.

So that means the ancient kingdom's name was Bink. The reason why is because the Gorosei were threatened and decided to execute Clover because he was about to speak the name of the ancient kingdom. The reason why this name is dangerous is because if people learned it was called Bink, they may be able to discover the truth hidden in the common song Bink's Sake that had been spread for centuries.

Not everyone know Bink Sake Song. In this story only 4 pirates crew that known to sung this song. 1. Roger Pirates, 2. Red Hair Pirates, 3. Rumbar Pirates, 4. Straw Hat Pirates. We never seen other Pirates Crew sung this song, even Whitebeard Pirates, Blackbeard, Kaido, and Bing Mom Pirates. Even the ones who introduce the song in Thriler Bark party is Brook. Not Even Lola Pirates Know it. Only Luffy who remember this song from his encouter with Shank in Chapter 1, then he and the crew sing this song since then after Brook joining the crew. So, I think this song exsistences is not visible by World Goverment or they just dont understand the hidden meaning behind the song and let it be. However, I believe the former reason is more sensible given the World Goverment Rules that forbid everything that exist from Void Century to be learn. So, How did this song survive? Of course World Goverment don't think that this song is from the Void century. That is How This Song Can Survive This Long and anyone can sing the song freely everywhere.

@@airarinuzu1532 just because oda didn't show us doesn't necessarily means other pirates didn't know. Rather the way brook introduced us this song implies that it is know all over the world. It fits perfectly that the true history was right under the world government's nose. Even after all their attempts to erase the history, they couldn't. It would be rather ironic. I am more fond of the idea that Joyboy's actual name was Bink but his name was lost forgotten but his commonly known name survived that is joyboy

This is actually a wonderful theory, fitting the way I always have pictured One Piece and Oda. If this proves correct, I would be 100% satisfied with the end of the manga. Because its meaning is really important in the manga itself but the message carried behind it is a pure message of goodness, of sharing and caring. As a native spanish speaker, I think I could add something to this fantastic theory. In spanish, "Don" means "Gift", "Special Power", "Passion", "Vigor", "Vital energy" and "Blessing". I think this is something to consider because how important Dressrosa arc and Doflamingo are in the series... there are a lot of references to Spain in Dressrosa, and the Donquixote sur name is based on "Don Quijote de la Mancha", an spanish novel very related to the ancient "Roman" genre in novels. Also, Rocinante is the name of Don Quijote's horse, and Corazón means "Heart"

I agree Spanish has quite a role in One Piece! I think more than Italian and French, which are also quite present. Robin's technique have Italian names ("gigantesca mano" is read as in Italian and not in Spanish, the sound of the g is different) and Sanji's techniques are in French, taken from French cuisine's techniques. I speak all three languages: I am a native Italian speaker, soy fluente en Español, and I also speak French and I can tell there are many foreign words in One Piece from these three languages, but many more English ones, that's for sure. Yet, in the Dressrosa arch there's an abundance of Spanish names. Don Quijote furthermore is a novel about imagination, and reading reality through your own lenses and not by using rationality nor society's lenses... and about acting "CRAZY", indulging into "romantic" (not as we intend the word today, but as in "chivalric romance's") ideals: Don Quijote is a visionary, with a lot of tenacity, but who always gets defeated. It is a highly IRONIC novel, so it is meant to have the reader to LAUGH at what is happening to the protagonist, yet Don Quijote de la Mancha is also a powerful novel, it has the power to inspire people to aspire for more than sheer reality✨ Btw, we also have a character that resembles Don Quijote in One Piece, and we met him in Skypeia: Gan Fall, which to me sounds very much resembling "God Fall", that is "Fallen God", and is - in fact - the previous God of Skypeia, usurped by Eneru or Enel according to different transciptions of the name. He encounters Roger and helps him, then helps the Strawhats... And is it a coincidence that the horse of Gan Fall has a similar pattern and colour palette as the clothes of Rosinante?...🤔Who knows! The DonQuijote family has the name of the character, but I am not yet sure why. Sure Don Quijote is not the real name of the character of Cervantes, it is a pseudonim that he attributes himself the moment he starts his quest. And the person that inspired him is more resembling DonFlamingo, actually. It was a noble Cervantes served under, if I remember correctly. I have always thought Oda might have always been deeply fascinated by the world, not just Europe, in order to write One Piece, which is almost like a collection of wonderful things in One Place. I have been curious all these years whether he has ever read the Don Quijote... And definitely there are references to it and to Spanish culture, but I don't believe at all that that "Don" in the song comes from the spanish word. I believe that [Don] it is a reference to "Dawn", which ha a similar pronunciation in English, but in English the o sound is pronounced longer than in Spanish... as the kanji would hint with that double o: "ドンと" -> do+o+n. One more reason I believe that this "DON" is "DAWN" is that it is mentioned just next to the DRUMS that today we know might be the DRUMS OF LIBERATION from JoyBoy's heartbit. Sorry the comment being so long. I had these ideas stuck in my head for so long, and I decided to take them out at the wrong time maybe... 😂
