I would like to see Sean investigate the way rich people have accountants and the creative accounting used to dodge paying fair share of income tax - the news is not new about this form of sidestepping real tax payments according to income

Hamish Te Moananui, John Rangi Smith. Te Rama Jones, and reverend Andrew Waka-Tamgimutu. CEO John Tamihere. Completely neutral board. Try calculating your tax return incorrectly and see if you are treated the same way, even for an error of a few $'s. Half a million? Not a problem.

@@Nessa___ Time we tore up the darn treaty, then Maori might have to stand on their own feet and not continually make demands on the NZ tax payer for handouts - they are such an "entitled" race and want, want, and want - there will never be an end to their demands..in other countries (Aust. of example) where Maori have had to work and stand on their own feet they do amazingly well... the treaty gives them a sense of entitlement which is holding them back...under the treaty they should receive no more or less than any other NZ citizen we are all supposed to be equal..

@@valeriehughes1008 Don't fricken lump all into one box - many of us work for our living - so shut your mouth until you do a survey of who of us as Maori have real jobs and earn a living like many others in the right way - why doesn't your Sean investigate the white-collar tax evasions by many rich people using creative accounting to dodge their duties to pay fair tax like all of us MAORI INCLUDED

@@ngahuiadixon8930 Keep your hair on and don't show your viciousness.. I know many Maori are amongst our hardest workers and hats off to each and every one of them. It is hard to be lumped with THE LARGE NUMBER who look for a free ride and endless hand outs when you know you are doing more than your share, but then you start to feel a bit like many of the rest of us about these bludgers. Look at our current government line up as see just how many very worthy Maori sit in cabinet, co leaders of our government, all with the drive to make the country strong for all citizens .... however survey's always show large numbers of Maori have made being a beneficiary a life style occupation and this group are the ones who bring all others down. I do a lot of charity food bank work and I know first hand the amount of bullying done by Maori (no other culture does this) demanding food for free even when they are not entitled. Real vicious stand over stuff - usually the food bank helpers are elderly and get intimidated by their viciousness. Bye the way there is one hell of a lot of tax evasion done in claiming benefits falsely also..also in taking money from tax payer funded charities set up for Maori in need and then setting up personal ventures etc... There is no one race is totally good or totally bad amongst us all there are ratbags! You have to stop being so defensive and help fix the problem instead of trying to hurl mud elsewhere.

This story is pretty much the same as the party formed by Mr and Mrs Tamaki the as I understand it operate as a trust and I think if memory serves me the same questions were raised about their activities re their political party and their Trust status. While it seems that the law has been broken and nothing other that a smack on the hand delivered I would have to think that a political judgement has been the consideration here. The talk of the Maori Party getting the role,of King Maker at the next election would of course favour Labour. So a little money provided through the back door to see this happens would be good for who other than the Maori Party my guess would be Labour. If we the voting public fall for this we will once again get the government we deserve. A Labour coalition and our once safe country will continue the downward fall into abject corruption and stupid woke policies that will in the long run make us another Banana Republic.

I don't understand how we can have a political party that is restricted to one race. Of course, I don't know if there are any non-Maoris in the party, but if there were it would no longer be a Maori Party would it, it would be a New Zealand party, you know, like the other political parties, made up of elected New Zealanders, rather than elected people from just the one minority race.

Its been a one-law country for years - with Maori just an appendix but subsumed overtly thrugh different actions and practices - eg accomodation issues where if you're Maori (or PI) suddenly the house has been already let - if you're Maori you are followed in a shop (in case something is 'missing') What do you call that - thinly veiled apartheid at its worst. In my years growing up Maori women weren't allowed titles to land through Maori Land Court - only males could have registered titles to Maori land - Maori women weren't allowed in hotels (which I thought was ok) but the principles of denying similar rights to women based on gender also speaks of apartheid and downgrading female rights. So go figure how did overt apartheid start - through similar actions performed by many NZ govts throughout time
