Looking at the faces of the majority of police at that incident, I would say that they also felt the officer in charge was excessive. Yet they all complied.

Thank you so much for watching and for this comment! I am so glad you noticed this because it also stood out to me as well! During several videos I watched, I would say roughly 4 incidents where Sgt Newberg was violating the rights of residents he would try to rope another officer into agreeing with him on camera or following his lead and you could see their visible discomfort and yet they did not want to disobey or embarrass or contradict a superior officer. Of course, there were at least three incidents where a particular officer seemed delighted to play along and even add to the lies that were being stated. This is something that really bothers me because it shows that the "Old School" of policing is being passed on and that even if there is better training and better recruiting this can be nullified by the officers who say "Forget everything you learned in the academy this is how we do things in the streets to get the job done." It is this sort of culture that is replicated again and again that undoes the best efforts of "retraining and new recruitment." Oh goodness, I have gone off on a tangent! Thank you so much for your comment and really paying close attention and picking on up on something that really stuck with me as I was watching these body-worn camera videos from Sgt Newberg.- taya Maybe I could use this as the comment of the day?

You can't expect every cop to have a law degree and when common sense says there is a clear danger or crime afoot, would we want cops to start consulting their law department to see if there is any possible liability there? I just think it should apply then and there only. No urgency or clear, present danger or malicious intent proven (bruised ego etc. or trying to punish the citizen), it should go out of the window every time. Cops should never be able to mess with law abiding citizens over petty issues, like words or cameras.
