The thing with the ending of Chapter 3 is that it ENTIRELY makes sense within the lore that a Harlequin of his stature could pull that off. Because it's not just ANY Harlequin, it's a Solitaire. Solitaires take normal Harlequins and make them look subpar, because Solitaires embody Slaanesh in their plays. They kind of tap into the Eldar's biggest fear, and basically no Eldar, not even most Archons, are willing to tick off a Solitaire. They effectively have free reign to do anything they wish, because they have the strength to back it up in Dark Eldar land and the normal Eldar respect them sufficiently.
@gallow_walker10 күн бұрын
It's interesting how the status of the Solitaires within Eldar society mirrors that of the Rogue Trader. Obviously there are taxonomical differences, but they serve very similar roles as galivanting corsairs with little oversight. It really shows how much history in 40k repeats itself, as different species ascend, stagnate, and fall. It happened with the Eldar, it's happening to humanity, and it'll happen to the T'au.
@infernodelta7010 күн бұрын
@@gallow_walkerThe really interesting thing comes in the fact that the Solitaires act with the knowledge that their society has already fallen and is circling the drain, and as such, every action they commit is just, because they can. No real greater reason, just a drive to do whatever they can, however they can. Because if your world is ending, why quibble over the details?

@@lol_vevo Nope, only someone like Captain Generals can deal with them. U know that Solitaire can take on Greater Daemon to survive or win. In the Battle of Lion Gate, 2 Tribunes were dead against the Greater Daemon they fought through their units managed to banish them. Only The current Captain General banished his Daemon without dying. That is a battle they fought alongside the other part of the Talons so the Daemons were nerfed quite a bit. The battle was the biggest losses for Custodes ever since the Heresy with thousand dead and many couldn't be saved as they didn't have enough Dreadnoughts.

And in this path of the quest the priest doesn't tell you, you never learn who the person you impersonnated was or why they got the inheriance xD I'm really impressed that this quest has also a completely different serious version who's just as good, I really should replay this game once they're done updating it.

On the topic of Aeldari racism: The prononciation of their favored insult is fairly fluid, usually alternating between "Mon-Key" and "Mon-Kai" interchangeably. As far as the difference between the Dark Aeldar and the normal Aeldari, the Dark Aeldar are more or less unwilling or incapable of giving up the hedonism and excess that defined the Aeldari race pre-Slanesh. The Aeldari proper took a look back at their big whoopsie and decided "Woe is us, we need to be better!" And refined their smug superiority to modern Bhuddist levels.
@jamesbridgman72989 күн бұрын

@kenjinpiniteu9 күн бұрын
@@jamesbridgman7298 You're correct. Slaneesh already has a hold on the souls of the Dark Aeldari, and is slowly leeching them for just existing. It's why they (the Dark Aeldari) torture and be sadists, because it's the only way for them to refill their souls and avoid Slaneesh consuming them whole. They don't have the spirit stones and the Infinity Circuit of the Craftworld Aeldari to protect them from Slaneesh, or Cegorach's protection over the Harlequins. The Drukhari are trapped on a boat punctured with holes, and no matter how much water they throw overboard, it'll eventually come to a point where the boat starts sinking.
@DSzaks8 күн бұрын
So from what I understand the deal w/ the Harlequin asking you to rescue the Aeldari is that despite the fact they are batshit insane they are still fighting against Slaanesh and trying to save their race, and having the Drukhari kidnap and murder a bunch of them kinda crossing a line for them. You do not HAVE to help them, but you do HAVE to help someone to get them to open the gate and get you out of the city. That can Either be Marazhai or the Harlequin/Aeldari or both. Not sure if there is other options beyond that though.

I need you to know that my wife and I always listen to your videos to fall asleep, we've prolly listened to every video 10 times by now. Needless to say were very excited for this one! Maybe metro or starfield next?

@kenjinpiniteu9 күн бұрын
@@marley7868 Because diplomacy means to have the participants see everyone as equal to get to a fair agreement that's suitable for all. Aeldari don't think anyone else in the galaxy is their equal - they genuinely believe everyone else is a primate at best, and are physically and psychologically disgusted by us. People think that the Yrliet romance is just her not wanting to touch, but it's more than that, it's like asking a human to kiss a monkey. Y'all ain't kissing no monkeys

@kenjinpiniteu except human/Eldar pairings are canon, if not extremely rare, and her character growth arc should start with her realizing that holding that notion is extremely foolish.

Oh wow, wasn't expecting you to cover an owlcat game, perhaps you would be interested in doing Pathfinder? Preferably the 2nd one, Wrath of the Righteous?
@TheSaltFactory10 күн бұрын
I'm definitely interested after seeing what they pumped out with Rogue Trader. Though uh... maybe not for a bit, this one took a lot out of me haha
@nubmaster130310 күн бұрын
@TheSaltFactory yeah Pathfinder is huge, with soo many different options, if this one is basically 6 hours, Pathfinder would be like 8 xD but good to know hopefully you get to it one day, is one of my favorite games
@ZeroNumerous7 күн бұрын
@@TheSaltFactory I'd heavily suggest Wrath of the Righteous over Kingmaker. Both are kind of broken in different ways, but at least Wrath is turn based from the start. Kingmaker requires a mod to be turn based.
@lorenzosp85666 күн бұрын
@@ZeroNumerousi think turn based was added as a free update later, but i would suggest WOTR anyway because it's a much more complete and comfortable game thanks to the team's experience from working on Kingmaker (plus Kingmaker had its support and dlc forcibly cut by Owlcat's publisher)

You know, I knew about the name Abelard long before this game, based on some Medieval philosopher that I read in college history courses. I really liked the name, so I decided to use it to name my rogue trader... More then a little confusing.

Honestly, as a 40k veteran at this point, i found that (pertaining to your later point) the depth of existing lore helped to uplift the stories of the characters that you follow, despite the occasional shortcoming. In particular I found Argenta's last quest to be almost farcical with the sudden fade-to-black followed by reemergence with some sick-ass power armour. You did miss on some good comic relief without Jae on your team, but she doesn't really contribute to the story as a whole, I found. Nevertheless, I was never able to make Pasqal as busted as you did, my mechanical bullshittery consisted of stacking as much stuff on Argenta as possible then hosing everything down with a heavy bolter. Which was satisfying in its own way! Currently working through my heretical playthrough, and looking forward to seeing how it plays out.
@fokka60108 күн бұрын
They nerfed Argenta at least twice and she's still busted. Thats what arch-militant tends to do when buffed by an officer, and I had two of each (Abelard and Argenta, RT and Cassia). Master tactician breaks it even further, if you give the inquisition ring to Cassia-strategist, who always goes first.

56:20 "It has long been in your capability to transform these worlds. Baal Primus is dead, but you need not let your remaining people suffer unnecessarily. Will they fight any better for dwelling on a world that kills them? By sacrificing their children to the Emperor’s service, they have earned a better life. Once you have torn that blasphemy down, raise up the population of Baal Secundus. Teach them what we are fighting for. A line must be drawn between what is good and what is evil, for if the Great Enemy comes with offers of power to a wretch, what reason does he have to refuse hell if he dwells in it already?" - Guilliman to Dante in Devastation of Baal

I'm at the end of my playthrough. 315 hours currently and I'm about to pass the point of no return. I love this game so much. Flaws and all. I hope other people give it a try. It's severely underappreciated for essentially being Baldurs Gate in 40k

I know someone probably already mentioned it, but you don't ever see the alternate reality version of your own path. You didn't get to see the Iconoclast copy. That was a copy of a version of you that never had a dominant ideology. I played my first run without a dominant ideology and the Iconoclast copy showed up for me. They're very nice. You can tell who is who based on the companion by their side, the Iconoclast copy's companion is Abelard, and I believe the no path one has no companion. It's to mirror the choice at the beginning of the game where Abelard, Idira, and Argenta give you an option corresponding to each of the three main paths.
