Hello Carrot! I haven't played poker for more than 10 years, and six months ago I returned to it. I belong to the old school of poker, and for a while now, I've been learning all this new stuff. Your video popped up in my recommended, and I watched about 10 more. I want to thank you for everything you share publicly. You've gained a follower, and I wish you a lot of success at the table and beyond!

I would add bankroll management as another "leak" - it isn't purely gameplay related, but I know some players who were slightly winning or break-even with a hot run at 10NL-25NL, who then took a shot at 50-100NL without enough of a bankroll to absorb variance. Even if they could beat the stake, it doesn't matter if you only have 10-20 buy-ins behind and lose it all in a bad run. You might also not play your best poker if you are worried due to having too much of your bankroll on the tables. 100NL needs enough money behind that a lot of people can't just reload after a bad run, like most recreational players at 10NL can.

I definitely agree about the importance of proper bankroll management. However, being too nitty with your bankroll is also a good way to stay traped in the micros longer than you should. Finding the right balance is important. I think the best way to do it is to be reasonably aggressive with your shot taking (but not completely kamikaze) and be willing to move down if it doesn't go well. The rule I personally use is to move up in stakes when I have 30 buy-ins and move back down if I drop below 25 buy-ins. So I would move up to 100NL when my bankroll passed the $3,000 mark and move back down to 50NL if it dropped below $2,500.

Highly disagree. You dont need many buy ins. All you need is discipline/ability to move down in time :)

The biggest reason you’re not at 100NL is because you’re not treating the game like a professional on and off the tables. You aren’t holding yourself accountable to a consistent schedule that includes playing, studying, sleeping, exercise, and eating healthy.

There's that and also not having/developing the mental fortitude to withstand the inevitable downswings. IME the latter is probably the cause for why most players who could be winners don't make it. That was true of myself when I started playing after the poker boom. Played professionally for quite a while until I hit a 25 BI downswing that was taking a toll on me mentally.

Nice video! The Villian's call frequency % in Neutral Spots in the table is just MDF right? Is there mass data analysis available for these neutral spots? And if so what is the actual defence freguency for neutral spots in the online pool depending on betsize? :)

In the 2nd hand you mention that recs lead turn vs flop check too often, which is true. My preferred way to exploit that is to always 2b turn when they lead, and then overbet basically any river unless I make middling SDV. Your database should show that this is a very high performing strategy vs fish

How do you defeat set mines? That is basically the only thing I ever lose to, set mines and the odd 2 pair. Bricked draws obviously, but my main losses come from set mines. If I play like the other people say, basically I will never win more than 10bb in most pots, and maybe steal blinds a bunch. This is what is killing me, set mines.
@hughdesmond2006
@hughdesmond2006 6 ай бұрын
I think if set mines, which are super rare, are killing your winrate, you probably aren't earning enough in all the other spots to withstand what is essentially a cooler.
