Tarantula was served at Der Bratskeller,a restraunt in LA years ago. My friend ordered it and these little octopuses for me. I didnt know it though and when the plates came the little guys were placed standing up on their legs. I just looked at them for some time before she placed one up to my mouth to eat. I only ate them because it cost her an arm and a leg(no pun intended).She shared them with me,...thank God.

I probably could have worded it more succinctly. The layers of pop culture actually go a lot deeper than indicated in my original post, but I just dashed off the abridged/contemporary version so as to not be too obtuse, pedantic and dryly historical....but I'm afraid you've poked the (old) bear now. As a Journalism and Broadcasting major about 1980, I wrote at least one paper about the historic, musical and media influences on selected Looney Tunes cartoons, including One Froggy Evening, It included the Vaudeville and earlier film origins of the music and charactres, (look into Eubie Blake's music and the film Once Upon A Time some time), with special emphasis on the musical work of Milt Franklyn and Carl Stalling at Warner's, as well as discussion of the animators, including Chuck Jones and Mike Maltese. "WAY" before the frog was even named Michigan, he was a one-shot charactre in the original1955 Warner Bros. cartoon which was titled One Froggy Evening. Chuck Jones, the director and lead animator of the short, said in interviews that he came up with the name Michigan J. Frog (after the song's line "Everybody loves the Michigan Rag", which he co-wrote) some time in the 70's. The frog wasn't really officially named Michigan.J. until the 90's, after the release of the sequel called Another Froggy Evening, and when the WB began to use him as a mascot. Just the SIGHT of Missouri's Guberburger, which has peanut butter smeared atop the patty, would convince Dermot that Americans put peanut butter on EVERYTHING (and we do, so beware. ) I also think the hamburgers should be of Beyond Beef, so we can get the vegetarians in on this too. I wanna see Lolsy sample Pennsylvania's Fluff Screamer, which has beef, pickles, onions, hot sauce and big dollop of MARSHMALLOW FLUFF the size of a tennis ball on a bun (and I am dead serious.) Unless I am badly mistaken, Lolsy loves marshmallow fluff and the conflicting emotions between that love and the righteous disgust of the Screamer in general, would make for an incredible look. Just Niall's reaction to the NAME of Mississippi's slugburger has opportunities that are priceless.

Just had a story out yesterday from England and they say it is a myth that you eat spiders in your sleep. 1) they do not like damp places that are dark 2) there is to much CO2 expelled and they could not breathe so they will not go there.Also I have eaten bugs in Jr High School in California. It was part of the science class after school program. We all contributed $2 a month to the program and at the end of the year we had a "FEAST" and actually whale blubber is kind of good as I remember (this was 62 years ago) chocolate covered ants were really not to bad nor were sweet and sour roasted cockroaches --- and YES we did eat all these and more

I didn't realize there was something that could break Ciara this much. AWESOME idea! For arachnids and insects...it's basically just the exoskeleton, since nearly all of these packaged ones overcook them. Fried scorpion is quite delicious, especially when you season it or even smoke it. I actually recommend going to a restaurant where they specialize in this. If you're going to experience eating weird stuff, at least have it prepared well.
