It's always really heartening when you hear Ben get really serious and drop the silly voice and playful sarcasm. You could tell he was depressed one of the pigeons got killed, and seeing him immediately just bringing the other one in as his indoors pet was very sweet.

Uncle Ben you should get some water plants, especially some sort of surface plants for your pond. They'll outcompete the algae so you can see in the pond and also provide shelter for the minnows. You'll especially need water plants if the capybaras will be pooping in there. Water plants would be good enrichment for the predators and also make the minnows last longer.

@@TheUrbanRescueRanch If you don't mind it covering parts of the surface duckweed is a FANTASTIC scrubber, and it grows with zero effort, mosses are always great (Java Moss). If you have ANY spare time I HIGHLY recommend you check out SerpaDesign, he does a LOT of vivarium, riparian and pond builds and knows his stuff when it comes to botanical and water parameters.

The mushroom at the end looks like the boletes that grow in my yard after a good rain, but it is hard to tell without seeing the underside of the cap. Features like gills, pores, the stem, and discoloration after cutting are big identifiers. Also good rule of thumb to discard them if you are not 100% certain as misidentifying mushrooms can be dangerous.

The water quality in the pond will definitely keep clearing up as the pond matures and the ecosystem stabilizes. Try adding more plants(especially in the wetland filter part) once they get established they’ll help filter the water as well
@brockn7878
@brockn7878 Жыл бұрын
Yup but its also a little harder with this situation because a lot of the plants you want will get eaten and certainly don't want any plants Not good for the beasties. So it needs to an educated and thoughtful process. Moreso than if there wasn't an animal rescue involved.

And, let's not kid ourselves, there will be some effort and maintenance involved. Plants may have to be hacked back, eventually, meaning that you've succeeded wildly as a gardener. But the pond looks great and the Capy's love it. The filter area may need to be protected or the animals may turn it into a big wallow. There will be some learning and evolving here, no doubt. : )

I think it's supposed to be like too much pride. Having a little pride is okay. But too much of anything is a bad thing. That's at least how I would describe it. Edit: also, arrogance isn't different. Arrogance is basically extreme pride. It's no different than angry, vengeful. Someone can be angry, when your vengeful. You are extremely angry.

Uncle Ben and Big Ounce’s uploads always make all our days! I cannot wait to see what Big Ounce, Da Baby, Kevin, and the whole rescue ranch is up too! I just remembered how Uncle Ben was on the news!
