@@lurrielee2755 There's only so many umpires, and they're all in the same union. Normally I'm a union guy, but the umpire system as it is now is absolutely wack and the union has to protect the status quo. That's why the MLB had to legally prove that Angel Hernandez was unfit to umpire high-stakes games like the World Series, because otherwise the union contract would make it so someone like him with so much tenure would basically be a sure pick.

7:20 the only reason I can see for doing this is that it's a partial distraction. I played baseball in 8th grade, and I remember the ear flab being a slight bit uncomfortable, and partly distracting. I doubt changing it would have helped me much considering I was fat and relatively weak, but I can definitely see why someone would do it.

Other examples is a football kicker born without a foot meant he could kick harder than anyone else and amputees are lighter and thus can run and swim faster. There are legitimate arguments that physical disabilities provide unfair advantages in some sports. Ableism is necessary in the name of fairness.
