@Omolaja itura 5:53, 6:11, 6:25 A thousandaire telling millionaires (some close to being billionaires) that they are wrong from a financial and/or marketing perspective is a sign of either arrogance or ignorance. Granted one millionaire is obviously not going to have all the knowledge in the world which is why there are 5 of them, and he was defensive with pretty much all of them. He was trying to defend his business against what he perceived as attacks and criticism when really they were just trying to get a feel for the strengths and weaknesses of the business. If I was in his position I would have come in and started the pitch with something like "I feel the business can succeed because it is on trend and there are few or no similar products on the market. The only obstacle I see is the volume. If we can overcome that then the price will decrease drastically and at that point we would not only match the big plastic players but also have an advantage over them." That would open up both a high growth rate and multiple buy-out options. Being upfront with problems establishes a sense of trust and helps assure people that there won't be hidden problems down the line. If somebody is strong then even attacking their vital points can't take them down. If somebody is weak then they will try to defend themselves.
@GirlycarDawn4 жыл бұрын
@Omolaja itura Wrong, I've watched the entire series 7 times. What do you mean that you don't say that the niche is empty? Number one that's a good thing, and number two that's an obvious fact. No, fads stop after months or a couple years. Trends last for decades. Plus you can't regulate plate material, and if you could that would only benefit this product. Because this one is more ecologically sound than the plastic type. I don't think you understand what you're talking about. It would appear that you didn't read the part where I said the price goes down with higher volume either. I clearly said that was the one problem he needed to overcome and that he should be more upfront about it. That is how a person is respectful, not by arguing points but by admitting the areas where they need the dragons to help. They are obviously there for something other than cash and it's a good idea to let the investors know what it is.

She waffles on endlessly about green and natural products and constantly looks at ingredients and production processes but when it comes down to it she rejects a product based on pricing. We use this type of plates all over in India. Almost anywhere we have catering service or food served in temples ( called Prasadam or Prasadh ). This is something that needs to be implemented worldwide. Wish him the best.

@@Professor-Scientist Another fun fact about Indian meals : We traditionally eat our meals on Banana leaves , though we have adapted plates now , we still eat on banana leaves during festivals and marriages and any such occasion. The food tastes different ( more tastier ) while eating from a banana leaf . ( I don't know why that is so , is it a psychological phenomenon or it is a property of banana leaf . )

This is a very known product in india. Each plate (smaller than the platter) cost about 3-5 rupees if you buy in bulk, quite similar to styrofoam ones.

The dragons are right this one. The product is amazing and it's an awesome idea but is Market is small do to price. I hope he's been able to find a way to bring that price down quickly!

i don’t know when this was aired, but these plates are everywhere in India. The price is nowhere near to what this guy sells, it’s really cheap here, albeit a bit costlier than their thermocol counterparts

It’s shame to see this tv show, so called dragons den. This men have absolutely amazing Eco-friendly product with top quality and he is investable business man but they refused him. You can clearly see this business people mind frame... they are not in the business of saving the world shame... 👆👎
@いぶき-s9m3 жыл бұрын
They can’t just invest in everything that you would call ‘useful’ or ‘eco friendly’, they have to make back their money too. They said they loved the idea, but might lose too much money if they invested because the business was unstable. I don’t see what’s so hard to understand 🙄
@oman94923 жыл бұрын
Obviously they want money. These products will only work if governments start banning disposable plastics. And they won't be doing that anytime soon. Plastic masks are in lol
@danriaz96784 жыл бұрын
He presented really well, the product is great. Unfortunately needed a lot of cash to really kick off, but I could see it being super successful. For £200k he needed to offer at least 40-50% for it to make sense for a Dragon. Might be a better idea to take the product to Australia and establish it there first, since it'd be cheaper.

Although his company is still going, it's currently got a net worth of just £43.5k. That's almost a third of what he wanted from the Dragons for 20%. It is a good product, but the investors weren't wrong about the pricing and potential.
