Lyrics & Information
Taken from the Live & Dangerous album tour. I realise this video is already on youtube but since I found a better quality audio one I decided to put this up. Enjoy!
Lyrics :-
Down from the glen came the marching men
With their shields and their swords
To fight the fight they believed to be right
Overthrow the overlords
To the town where there was plenty
They brought plunder, swords and flame
When they left the town was empty
Children would never play again
From their graves I heard the fallen
Above the battle cry
By that bridge near the border
There were many more to die
Then onward over the mountain
And outward towards the sea
They had come to claim the Emerald
Without it they could not leave

Phil Lynott was a rock meteor who lit up the sky all too briefly before he sadly died far too young. But he's left a fantastic legacy of peerless rock classics like Emerald, I'm a Rocker, Renegade, Jailbreak and so many others. Well done Phil and the boys. A unique band and sound that will live forever in the rock pantheon.

Kicking the door in with the twin guitars and even doing it before Maiden. This is the first live concert video I have seen of this classic Thin Lizzy track with the great Snowy White, R.I.P., to me, Snowy was the most underrated guitarist of the early 1980s, he also worked with Pink Floyd, "Bird of paradise" to me, should've been number 1 in the UK charts, I just hope to find a live concert recording of the great Thin Lizzy doing the full version of "Don't believe a word", I had a recording of this song as a double single record many moons ago, cant remember the main single, but it was about the time when "Thunder and Lightening" album was released.

I think the guitarists listening to this will hear the clamfest, without a stunt guitarist like Gary Moore or John Sykes, or even Brian Robertson, the guitar parts really suffered. 78 in Sydney with Gary Moore was a guitar exhibition.

I went to a gig one winter in sleepy Bristol England but it was snowing and the band couldn't come so an outfit from London stepped in called Yo Yo, a TL cover band. I swear to god it was Phil on bass, even looked like him they were that good.
