I’m ENTP and I know very well that any point of view has its merit. I used to use that understanding as the basis for debating; however, how many debates can one engage in without the situation becoming “same old same old?” One moves from point of view to point of view, and there is no center to it. I can feel restless in the absence of a center. I have the idea that the absence of a center, the restlessness, becomes the basis for a spiritual search. It seems to me that the ENTP can be like the wanderer on a quest for the beautiful princess, the princess being the hidden FI. The Fi represents a feeling that one can believe in without any equivocation. For me, the basis of that feeling is a sort of essential human goodness that has no opposites and is finally not even moral in nature. This goodness - call it, perhaps, a fundamental innocence or a fundamental virtue - is there even in people who have committed crimes and caused great harm. I think that we all have this and cannot lose it, although we can forget it. To me, the “worst evil” that one can do is to enable another person to lose faith in this fundamental aspect of themself. I don’t find myself scratching the itch to argue as much any more. I more frequently say to myself, “If every point of view is correct, why not, at least in this moment, accept the other person’s point of view?” If everything is “right” and nothing is, why not allow the other person to be the one who is right? The ENTP can easily see the world through the hard eye of truthfulness, really wanting honesty and clarity from the other person. The lesson I think is to learn to use the soft eye at the same time. If the hard eye represents truth and the soft eye represents Love, it is clear that we focus the most effectively when using our two eyes. Truth and Love when used together create Wisdom.

@yeabsira6548 Жыл бұрын
what you are refering to sounds like GOD. spirituality cant exist in fi because that would mean god has favorites. FI high types cant have any grasp of a center that we dont. our struggles may be different but they are not unequal. That means the feeling you have arrived at must not be a "feeling" in the FI sense. its something greater and equally accessible to all types like love is for example. its the way we reach there as different that may be different. ENTP's are not moral relativists just by virtue of being an entp. that's a you thing. right and wrong exist. every point of view is not permissible. That is exactly what our TI works for I would argue, that is to clarify the right way and make sense of things. acknowledging the other persons viewpoint could mean seeing contexts where their way of thinking might be the right way of doing thing. it could be seeing that your viewpoint cant be adopted into a rule or an unshakable principle, and that it might change depending on the context. That is not moral relativism,its actually imperative to being good truth and love are not dichotomies are you present them. nor do they map perfectly onto "hardness" and "softness" .

I _definitely_ enjoy telling people they're wrong, but it is not because I want to make them look bad, but because what I _really_ want is a constructive and/or philosophical discussion. That being said, I have learned that most people don't want this, so I construct a good argument, present it and almost never return to the conversation again. As I have grown older, I learned that arguing with people who have already decided on their opinion (no matter how illogical) is futile, but if you present your argument they are forced to face it, and if you leave without having any further discussion you won't waste anymore time nor will they get more fuel to fire the radicalisation of their belief. Point 1 to an ENTP musician/comedian/creative type rings especially true - the need of giving from our discovery demands an audience. (& a reason to develop Fe) I've been surprised seeing how others "ENTP" their way around business and other fields, having assumed they would be creative the way I was with music, but it seems, they just use their mental "tools" to excel in/explore their field, the way a musician does in theirs. That realization (that should have been obvious) made me happy. As certain types are really "great with people" in different fields, ENTP are "people with greatness" in different fields-providing its not dreadfully drudging. And from us all, you're welcome. And if you know us, you'll know that's not ego or anything close.

The "immature ENTP is offensive", "mature is subversive" is so true. I have this ENTP colleague who is younger than me and he can be so inconvenient and offensive at the wrong times. He hasnt learned that yet.

I am quite confident that both C.S. Lewis and G.K. Chesterton, two of the only "Christian apologists" I can stomach as an atheist--are ENTP's. They both claimed to be quite big fans of paradox and irony. For example, Lewis called Christianity a "true myth" (paradox), even though he believed that the Garden of Eden was a made up story. And Chesterton talks about the "clean, well-lit dungeon" of pure reason (irony). He famously said, "Poets do not go mad, but chess players do."

Is it possible to change types? I was so sure I was an INFP, but lately I've been realizing that I might be an ENTP who is a bit shy. I love interacting with people, even if I don't always love the people per se. I love debating, and a lot of the people who know me would indeed say that I am a bit aggressive, or perhaps combative. I do desire to have an audience and I love uncertainty and paradoxes. But I also value uniqueness a lot and I am very aware of my emotions- I'm constantly analyzing and trying to make sense of them. I don't know. I contain multitudes, I guess. I also relate to INTP's. So! Who knows. Humans are way too complex.
@stripmallhighschool99943 жыл бұрын
You seem more infp or intp than entp from your comment although all three have a good deal in common. Ne tool function will try to keep you from settling on anything, your ni knows though if you can learn to hear it sometimes. Although entps are probably more aware of their emotions at a young age than an intp. You probably know if you're an extrovert. Infp's are alot more than their usual type description.
@stripmallhighschool99943 жыл бұрын
Also maybe infj is one to consider.
@anaissainza3 жыл бұрын
@@stripmallhighschool9994 Thank you for your reply :) I do think I am an introvert, but my friends disagree. They say I am way too good at interacting with people to be an introvert, but I am the worst at small talk. It is all very confusing! I also think I am way too dramatic to be a Thinking type, but I value rationality over emotions and I am pretty logical and analytical. Is there a type so pretentious that they think they are every type? Because that would be me :') hahah
@stripmallhighschool99943 жыл бұрын
@@anaissainza np, I like to try to figure out peoples type with as little info as possible and be helpful if possible, I feel cool if I can. Your responce struck me as fe/ti and types that only vary in the last letter (Infp/infj) tend to get to the same place from opposite directions so infj is looking more likely to me. I would suggest looking at that type and seeing what you think. Infj's have fe tool function which is great at interacting with people and make isfj, and to a little less extent infj, the most outgoing and engaging introverts. Infj's are great at relating to people and can sometines even feel confused about their own identity bc of it. They also have te blind spot so that would be a good thing to test.

I dislike being put into the limelight on purpose. But I love when people laugh when I make jokes and sarcastic comments. I also love to tease others which then gets understood as flirting. Meanwhile I might not even be interested in this person. I often just have fun purely for the sake of it and like to entertain myself through social interactions.

My ENTP totally came out when I did my middle school 8th grade report on PETA lol from a small town in California all the kids were doing obvious serial killers, and athletes I remembered how it clicked for me to do somthing different while being in on the joke. The organization intrigued me, with the background of provocative “I’d rather go nude then wear fur” ads and other radical headlines from their high profile celebrity activists lol there was so many layers of mind I was tapping into and a harsh reality that brought awareness to animal abuse, slaughter houses.. there was that 4th wall feeling when I was doing it & found the whole thing ironic forsure! Edit: I was kinda like a performance because I wore a PETA t shirt and also showed a VHS tape they sent me, ugh my mind 😂
