I own a Musk oil from Arabian Oud which I purchased probably way over 40 years or more ago completely by chance. Back then there were no reviewers but the few of us who had perused the internet had discovered some different oils. We only communicated with each other as in that space of time, no reviewers existed and it was only we newbie perfume maniacs. As soon as you started your informative and interesting interview about this fragrance I have tried to obtain but have not been successful, somehow, it brought to mind this Arabian Oud oil fragrance in the decorative copper bottle that I have had for many many years when we perfume maniacs only communicated with each other and I remember how so many of those people were going crazy that I owned that perfume oil. Back now to 2023, it hit me that I still owned that musky perfume perfume oil from Arabian Oud in both that larger copper bottle and they had given me a small copper bottle for when I was out of my abode and needed to refresh. I just applied that Arabian Oud musk oil to my skin and wondered why I have spent so many $$$$$$$ on perfumes during the last hundreds of years when I already owned one of the very best fragrances. Thank you Ramsey for this musk review without which I would have still probably left my Arabian Oud Musk oil still languish in my large perfume collection without any love or attention. I am wearing it now and it is so beautiful. Thank you for your this video Ramsay!

@@RamseytheRam exactly.... the things you get offered and have picked up are unbelievable finds! 🦄 I've just remembered seeing a 60s-70s Max Factor perfume called 'wild musk' that has real deer musk in it... should have picked it up, as it was cheap. And I think Coty and Alyssa Ashley had a real musk oil perfumes back in the day. It might be fun to try looking for and sniffing some vintage musks and see how they holdup.

Great video Ram..One of my favourites.. Love Areej and some Bortnikoff. Would love a full collection and smell them all but hey, you know the score.. I do have a perfume I decided to go all out on, Tonkin Deer Musk Galore by Arabian Perfumes UK.. It has 50 % minimum organically sourced deer musk which is mental and a pure Sandalwood base with very carefully chosen ethanol so it's sprayable, super extrait and that's the ingredients list done.. Beautiful.. Very wearable and changeable with an almost blue quality at some points but in the best way possible..It was originally a 3 gm pure oil but they decided to make a sprayable perfume.. These high quality Oud and Musk perfumes in my opinion are on another level compared to most other fragrances. When at home smelling them I find them transportative and meditative almost..Would love to get my nose on Fiona as I was very lucky to get some samples on Ebay but no Fiona in there..Will get version one someday hopefully.. Love your taste & style. Would you be willing to do a video walking us through how to shop for AUTHENTIC perfumes. Lots of people have where they buy, but I mean how to spot genuine, vintage, or like what countries are making the most perfumes and knock offs etc in new or old perfumes.. Notorious crooks, what to avoid like the plague etc..? Just how do you get info from sellers, what to check etc. I know there's books on this but I'd rather here strait from a buyers mouth.

Unfortunately there is no safe place to buy them after they sell out on ALD website.... you could try sealed essence but if you want RA work after it sells out you have to go to the secondary mkt

I have been binge watching all your videos. Just blind bought that Bortnikoff Musk since you said it will be discontinued and I like all the other ingredients. Should be really interesting because animalics can go really good or really bad on me. Real Ambergris smells amazing on me. But castoreum and hyraceum...the next day I smell like I slept in an outhouse and last eternally on my skin after all the other scents in the perfume go away. Like I loved Haxan at first but the next day...

Awe I also love Malik Al Taif very much. I only have about 10ml left and I barely wear it, I don’t want it to finish. The 30ml bottles really were not enough. I’d gladly have paid more for 50ml bottles. I need to buy a bottle or two but it’s incredibly hard to find. I’d say my favorite ALD frags are Malik Al Taif, Siberian Musk 2 and 3, Antiquity, Grandenia, Koh I Noor, Indolis, Walimah, Plumeria de Orris and Ottoman Empire 2,3 and 4. Once I let OE4 macerate more It will get much better. Awe man I would so love to get me a couple of bottles of Malik Al Taif, Antiquity and Siberian Musk. These 3 I’m very low on. I consider 10-15ml very low. If only I’d discovered ALD back in 2017 . I would have bought so many bottles. Esp since I had a nice savings acct back then. But I came in too late. By then it was too late. The best ones were being sold for 2-3 times the price they paid. I get charging double but more than that is just being a greedy slob. When I sold my bottle of Russian Oud, I only asked for $50 over what I paid and that included shipping. So I basically made about $30. I didn’t mind. I didn’t like it, too much Oud for me. And the wrong kind of Oud. I can’t do fecal barnyardy Oud. Yes it has a nice chocolatey opening but then it goes down the fecal Oud path and I have to scrub it off or vomit. It’s that same Oud he used in Aquilaria blossom. Anyway not for me. I need to sell my Aquilaria Blossom that I blind bought instead of Atlantic Ambergris 2. I bought the wrong one, I actually like AA2. Oh well. Sometimes it goes like that.

Koh I Noor & Malik Al Taif are at the top of my wish list... unfortunately they will probably be there a while as I am also in a no buy with this divorce... so is life... I am surrounded by perfume & dreaming of a few I dont have 😅😅😅

Ensar has tons of musk based perfumes other than EO2! There are few I believe way better! Tibetan musk Tonkin Musk Chypre Sultan Siber Extreme Private Blend Musk Gardenia: Borneo Kinam Notes from Underground. Homeros His Egyptian Musk and Musk Yousuf are very artistic creation as well but I don't believe they are better than EO2! To me Ensar is the king of Musk perfumes...🙂 Russian Musk 2 is my favourite musk perfume from Areej le Dore followed by War and Peace, Santal Galore, Malik Al Taif and Cuir de Russie. Never had the opportunity to try Siberian Musk by ALD. Adams only uses Siberian deer musk, whereas Ensar uses Siberian, Tibetan, Kashmiri, Mongolian and Tonkin Musk. And they don't smell same!

I was waiting to hear Oud Maximus on the list. To my nose the drydown has thrice the musk than Musk Khabib, even with the edgy ouds the musk is almost impudent when MK to me smells much more civilized and the musk is more rounded and seductive. I find it to be what a cheesecake galore like civet is to Oud Monarch, so is musk to Oud Maximus, a full blown rut-gavanza. The name should be Oud Muskimus. What a lovely fragrances, thanks for the video!

Oh sry lmao and there was a skunk out in the mid morning around 10 and I couldn't catch both dogs and he was directly hit in the face and chest. Lol I gave him a tomato 🍅 bath .,it was ruff . Some of my friends used to trap Muskrat and Beaver back in the day. They were skinning a Beaver one time and one cut out the musk gland and told me to smell it. As I did, the one rubbed the gland on my nose. They both laughed. Of course, they saw the displeasure on my face, then the one, Marty, said "What? It's what they use in all that cologne you wear". Then he brought the gland up to his nose and breathed it in deep, and said, "Smells better than the crap you wear". We all laughed. Marty stood 6'6" and weighed about 300 lbs. All muscle. His nickname was Mountain Man Marty. Not to be confused with any of the others. I looked. They were having a birthday party for him and they told me to come over while he was at work, and not to say a thing to Marty. When I arrived, they were taking apart Marty's Harley. They call it crating. My job was to bring the crates up to the second floor, where they reassembled the motorbike. When Marty returned home, right after, how do you say it, a couple dancers showed up. After they left, I was about to leave, that's when Marty said, "Where you going, you gotta bring these crates back downstairs. He slapped me on the back, which almost knocked me over, and laughed that mountainous laugh and cracked open another beer, and said, "Lighten up Klepto, my nickname, no one is going to bother you here". I was out of my league Ramsey. I mean I was the guy who wore perfume in a sea of leather. Excellent review Ramsey. Hope this comment gets through.

@@RamseytheRam Well,I like the smell of gas. I used to roll down the window when passing a farm. The smell of a skunk really doesn't bother me, unless you're right up on it. Then it just gets stuck in your nose. The smell of a shore of a lake is nice except for when moonies would get washed up and rot. Seagulls used to do that job for us. Now they eat from the dumps and love McDonald's fries. So what does that gland smell like? Smells like a beaver. Just stronger. Does it stink? Not to me. What would stink if a beaver was bloated and dead. A dead squirrel rotting inside a A-frame house that has the sun on it all day. That stinks. Pigs don't stink, but cleaning a pig pen after a massive rainfall and it turns the pen and pig poop into this cement-like liquid just before the pour. Yup, that stinks. Especially when you get a little splashing up your nose. A calf that has contracted a disease that turns part of its inside into liquid and the blood shoots out from its rectum and splatters all over the walls. It's sad too. Don't give a farm animal a name. After it passes, you have to go in and stringently clean the separation pen. Diahera smells really bad. It's the body trying to heal itself. If someone drinks too much, eventually they start to cook their insides. That black tar and blood that pours from the bottom is one of the worst smells. So does the beaver scent gland smell bad, compared to, no. It didn't stink. It was a long time ago Ramsey. I would remember if it smelled bad. I don't remember leather though. Anyways, that was a long way around the road just to so I don't exactly remember.

Its not as rough or animalic as it sounds because its blended beautifully and smooth... but I have a high tolerance for animalics compared to most 😁

@@RamseytheRam I seek out animalics. Genuine musk is one of my favorites and I have a couple dozen of ensars creations. I love the smell of skunk in the air, but not on a freshly sprayed dog 😂, so I’m always trying to find fragrances that incorporate it.

You could try Terre d'Hermes Parfum 🤷‍♂️ But I have honestly never smelled the parfum of Oligarch only the EDP ... sorry

Can buy musk grains from Russia… as long as you follow the regulation (check the regulation) for your country. Find legit sources online. Then can make your own oil as a benchmark. I prefer the way Ensar does his musks because they aren’t as powdery as Areej. I go to Areej for ouds + vintage ingredients + sandalwood and his typical base. I go to Ensar for musks and stand-alone ouds. Musk is one of those indescribable notes because to one person, it’s pee, to another, it’s fur, to another, its baby powder, to another, it’s nothing (nose blind). Etc etc etc. It depends on how the artist wants to use it. To fix, to bind, or to exert itself.

@@RamseytheRam It’s a middle eastern oil brand. There are a few I have enjoyed from them. They have an apparently real deer musk that I got, and I’m curious how legit it really is since I’ve never had any other experience with pure deer musk.
