From my work in a pharmacy (and preparation of a lot of antibiotic syrup) I can give a tip. Mix the powder with an eighth of the amount of liquid in the container. Even a tablespoon or 2 will do. After the powder is well absorbed and is no longer visible - only then add the rest of the liquid. It works, always.

Age 76 with knee pain and degeneration for 20+ of that. Started Orgain collagen from Costco 3 weeks ago. After a couple weeks I bent my knees to the sidewalk and when l got back up I noticed my knees were not screaming at me like they had any other time in the past 20 yrs. I think it was because of the collagen.

I have been putting a scoop of Trader Joe’s chocolate Keto Collagen in my morning coffee every day for at least 8 months. I have absolutely no doubt it is working on my skin and joints. My daughter hadn’t visited in a while, and after I’d been drinking this for 6 months or so, she visited and marveled at my lack of wrinkles. And once again, after decades, we were confused as sisters when we went out together. I’m 69. She’s 43. TJ’s collagen is grass fed bovine and MCT oil derived. It is sweetened with stevia leaf.

...I discovered that the Vital Protiens ( like the Blue Packaging she showed)...has Heavy Metals, and I stopped using it. I bought it on a Recommendation from someone, and I didn't actually realize it had Heavy Metals in it....until I started feeling " aches and pains " that should not have been happening. ( the Heavy Metals statement is actually stated on the. VERY bottom area ,on the back of the Product. ) So that is a NO for me.

So happy to see a positive review for Sparkle! I have the Sparkle collagen- both the Skin Boost and the one for tendons and joints. I haven't had it for long so can't comment on any changes. I got the unflavored which I mix into bone broth (got that tip from a comment on a different post). I can't taste it in the bone broth and like that it's mixed with a natural food-based collagen source.

Thank you Doctor for that valuable info. I will definitely check out your tips. I had a split thumbnail which was about 1/8 "" from the side of the nail. The narrow side of the nail detached and began to stick up. I had to tape it back down for about 2 years, however it never re-attached. Then I visited a bone-broth and gelatin video. A model who commented under this video said she was using copper peptides to keep up her skin's appearance. Then she switched to cow gelatin, and decided that cow gelatin was close or just as good as copper peptide. This set me off and I decided to try gelatin myself. I began sprinkling unflavored gelatin on my food before cooking. The gelatin melts and disappears, and is tasteless. After about 4 months, I noticed to my joy that the split and detached portion of the thumb nail was beginning to lie down and re-attach to the bed. That was a year ago, and now the thumb nail is normal. I found that I could add gelatin to my drinking water by heating the water first and then adding a small amount of gelatin, i.e "protein water". The gelatin remains dissolved during the day so long as the water is not cooled. If it is cooled, then pieces of gelatin appear however that doesn't bother me. I love gelatin now. Thank you again for your work and information on this channel and things to try.

Such a great video. I waited very impatiently for part two :-) There is so much out there… It’s just overwhelming. I do have a question. I switched my collagen and started the Vital Bioactive Collagen Complex about 3 days ago. I don’t even know if it is related but I have noticed my skin in the evenings during my skin routine has become very sensitive. It’s almost like a burning sensation. It doesn’t last long. I haven’t changed anything else in my routine. Is it possible that it could cause a little bit of skin sensitivity?

I bought pure marine collagen from Japan. I only use it when I'm not drinking soup/broth. Collagen supplement can be pretty expensive. As I'm Asian, drinking hot soup is part of my staple food. I usually use bones, bone marrows, chicken feet, kelp boil over long hours on low to make broth. When cooled in fridge you can see a thick gelatine mixture. Sometimes I will use dried anchovies with kelp soup. I love soup because it can be so nutritious, and delicious. I add onions, veg into the broth too and it makes a great dish over dinner too.

I took the skin boost for three months after I watched this video, I can't say I saw any difference in my skin or hair, but it relieved the tendon/joint pain (back &knees) that I had been suffering for months before (though not resolved). However, I had to stop using them as soon as my GYN told me my uterine fibroids have grown again faster than expected. Funny I know, I took them for skin and they helped with a second problem and worsened a third one 😅

Are there any peer-reviewed papers (research) showing that collagen is associated with fibroid growth?
@azamlaleh
@azamlaleh 3 ай бұрын
@@delaneyondreamsactually, I was curious myself, so I looked into literature. I found a few papers suggesting collagen's effect on fibroids/uterine polyps in animals (mostly dogs). I also found one of two preclinical papers (lab studies, not in population) suggesting a possible causal relationship between high collagen concentration and (human) fibroid growth. I assume that collagen supplements are still new to the pharma world it'll take a few years for researchers to come up with a sufficient number of women who use them and who have a propensity (e.g., genes) to develop fibroids!

Thanks much for the useful info, Dr. Locke. I just purchased the no flavor version of the sparkle verisol collagen [5g] directly from the manufacturer and it doesn't clump even when mixed with warm water/in my coffee... I mixed it with my spoon so likely they have changed the consistency so no need to purchase a mixer. Btw, Costco has similar verisol collagen that has received very positive reviews and much cheaper. Perhaps you could review this as well.

I’ve been taking collagen supplements for a few years - I never really thought about what it was doing, just sort of have been taking it in case. But now that I think about it this might be part of why I’m 36 and mostly people think I’m about 28/29

It could be anything... wearing sun screen, not smoking, getting sleep, not drinking alcohol.....I'm 60 and most can't believe it because i look like i'm late 40's. I don't take collagen but I don't worship the sun or drink a lot of alcohol. My point is that it's practically impossible to pin it on taking collagen. P.S. I'm the last person who brad about looking young!

Thank you for such an informative video! As a healthcare professional, I appreciate learning more about the science behind products. This seems odd but have you heard of people experiencing acne (facial and/or on body) when taking collagen peptides daily? I have enjoyed taking but I was noticing increased breakouts or bumps on my back, chest and arms. Maybe coincidence or other dietary changes, but when I took a break for a couple of weeks, I didn’t see more develop and my skin was looking clearer. I was using the vital proteins in the blue tub. I’m now very interested in switching to one with Verisol though!

Not to be nosy, but are you still young, 20s/30s? Are you working in a kitchen as a chef? these things both made my brother have acne up into his 30s, once he became a nurse and stooped being exposed to industrial kitchens, his fsace finally cleared up!

I too experience A LOT of acne when I try taking different collagen supplements. I’m 46 and have noticed this when taking collagen supplements for the last 5 years. I’ve been trying “the best” supplements out there (including Dave Asprey’s bulletproof collagen supplements), and brands from Germany and Switzerland, and always get bad cystic acne after taking the collagen (esp the bovine derived sources). Don’t know why. Very frustrating.

Wondering if the supplement contains whey? Sometimes whey and other dairy products can cause cystic acne. For example it happens to people who go to the gym and drink protein powders, end up with bacne and don't realize it's the whey in the protein powder. If it's the case, maybe switch to one that doesn't have whey and see if it works?

I’ve used the vital proteins blue one and liked it, it disolved so we’ll in my coffee. I never had issues. Then one day my local Costco ran out so I tried another one and had the clumping issue. I’m assuming their professional line dissolves well too. The flavor you’re referring to is that of gelatin 😅anyways, I can’t wait to try it! Thanks for the tips!

Interesting. I will stick to my home made broths. They work very well for me - vegetable, bone, fish and chicken. And I like the versatility I add to them to make them more effective in certain areas. For instance, one batch might have more turmeric and black pepper to get greater inflammation fighting and liver cleansing properties.

Hi! Enjoy your videos. Just a note: In the sense of making things easier-- in reference to the mixing of powders-- it looks as if a small funnel could be handy. Also many mix-and-go bottles have a 2" or so wire-like ball inside that assists with mixing. 😉

That is a really good tip actually well this is probably because I own my own health food store and I used to mix supplements and put them in veggie capsules organic veggie capsules and I still have my little black funnels that I filled them with, it’s nice that everybody is leaving their tips, you’ll get more of the powder if you do this and you’ll know exactly how much you’re really taking thanks again

I’ve been using Vital proteins, but just ordered SR brand so we’ll see. Helps with my joint pain. Do you think the bioavailability of any of the components is affected by the heat in coffee? Is it helpful to eat anything with collagen and HA, like a healthy fat or anything to increase absorption?

I am wondering which one to take for being 70. Facial skin is not the problem at this point. I do have some creapy skin on arms and legs and do probably need for joints. Is it recommended to take 2 different types of collagen for my issues? My chiropractor recommends taking Zymessence daily which is a body enzyme.
