@Troppa174 жыл бұрын
With standoffs under the panel you would see the plastic underside of the wood panel. For me that would defeat the purpose of the case. The whole case should've been 5 cm or 2 inch taller. 2,5 cm / 1 inch between the underside and the graphicscard and 2,5 cm / 1 inch between the top fans and the wood panel to allow better airflow. As it is the case could be a good canidate for GNSteve's Disapointment Shirt 2020.

I agree with you. Whats wroung with this case designers. It s not just about the look and it doesn’t look good at all. But totally unpractical for air flow. The panel in front no mesh the one under the same. The fan under it s pulling nothing trough those tiny air wholes.

@@silviu2quick This case is obviously for persons who don't expect to use graphic cards or to heat them up a lot.

@@TheKenji2221 "Obviously" is a bit of a stretch considering the advert clip on the Amazon purchase page touts a unique "highly efficient 'chimney' design with unique airflow-optimized layout" (1:10). They've even included a full-size GFX card model in the animation render. The case is gorgeous, but there needed to be a significantly greater number of bottom intake holes with taller base feet, while also having a larger gap between the top plate and the recessed exhaust outlet - this could all be done in such a way to where the user can't actually see any difference. Everything could be extended a bit with the outer shell covering what's going on behind-the-scenes. Also, considering the door panels are machined from [what I assume is] solid aluminum plate, very shallow ribs could have been incorporated along the inner surface to provide increased rigidity to prevent such easy bending.
@merrychristmas32134 жыл бұрын
I've got to disagree, that cooling is going to struggle to be "adequate" for most gaming systems but I kinda feel like you knew this and that's why there's no temperature tests.. It's extremely odd how much you focused on airflow and thermals and potential performance without any actual numerical data. Love ya Jay, but this was a miss.
@kevadu4 жыл бұрын
Exactly. Measuring airflow is pointless if you have no controls over *what* that air is flowing over. By far the biggest flaw with this case is inadequate intake for the GPU at the bottom. It would really benefit if the feet and bottom panel were just bigger so more air could get in there. As it is now you're mostly going to be pulling air in through the side and then out the top, which doesn't help cool the GPU at all. I should note that other channels that actually did temperature tests saw *horrible* GPU thermals in this case.
@LyK0sa4 жыл бұрын
I agree, but I guess different people have different ideas about what counts as 'adequate'. The H510 is an extremely popular case, but I'd never buy one due to the restrictive airflow. About the only SFF case that really appeals to me is the sliger SM580, only problem is that I think the side ventilation pattern looks hideous. If they'd have gone with mesh like the sidearm T1 I'd be picking one up for sure.

If you ever have worked in retail you get to learn the breadth of human stupidity... once someone rummages with the innards of an item it's no longer the way the manufacturer gave it to them so they cant guarantee the same operation. This is simple stuff. Your consumer rights are there but the manufacturer and retailers also have rights. Let's take a graphics card as an example. Lets say you take off the original cooler and dust the inside, but when you put it back on you didn't apply enough thermal paste and the card ends up damaged as a result. The fault is the consumers error, how does the manufacturer know this though? They werent there. So a seal or something to indicate tampering is the only way to protect themselves from others idiocy. Unless your mixing up warranty and right to repair...? That's a separate matter.

Jay: Did you ever feel that you were trying to put ten pounds of &%$# in a five pound box? ANS: yes, you were. To make a computer case, the first order force to deal with is heat. Form follows function. Now, you didn't design this case; 'they' did. So, how could it be made more cool efficient while still being fully functional? Aesthetics is in a far third place at this stage. So hot air wants to rise and expand; that is just a physical law that cannot be broken. Sooo - design a case with a mach up using cardboard or wood using essential parts (on/off sw, reset sw, led lights, usb, etc...) to make it complete from parts using an old case. So a case should have an opening at the bottom that funnels up to a larger space at the top of the case. Think of a tilted square sided funnel; or a variation of that theme. Power supply on the bottom and intake fans on the bottom. The biggest issue you will find is the 'wall' that the video card creates that impedes air flow and is inefficient and impedes mass air flow. While at the same time needing efficiency to remove heat from itself and what it has added to the overall heat buildup. HINTS: fans on top of the case in a direct push-pull configuration will be boosted by any fan on the bottom. Basically, you turn the bottom of the case into the opening of a vacuum cleaner. I've been able to use a Fractal 'G' case move mountains of air quietly and keep an 8700K run at 4.9ghz w/o any issue using these requirements. . . Some thoughts

Jay, you went wayyyy to easy on Fractal this time, bordering on shilling. This case just sucks, there's no ventilation, a moderate CPU without GPU will thermal throttle. It's crazy easy to damage. The aesthetics are "meh" at best. And the cost is way above where it should be. Nobody should buy this case.

I think you are supposed to suck air in from the top and blow it out the bottom holes, would reduce the amount of dust and debris getting in to the case.

Meshify C is slightly bigger and it's matx. Have that and it's great to fit a full size graphics card too. Great to build in it too.

I want something that size, which is, 100%, on all sides, just mesh. Solid frame, connecting/support bars as needed. A lug-gable with performance airflow.

I hope you reconsidered and are actually quarantining in your home. While lambasting you on your last video I forgot to wish you health. I hope you recover quickly Jay, truly.

That case actually does make me want to build an ITX PC. Maybe my next ground-up build.

ITX would be good for a media center build.

I'm glad this video is about a PC case because I thought Jay was going somewhere else when he said we would be taking a look at something small.

Phil you can put it on a flat surface and use something like a small bottle of frozen solid water and use it like a rolling pin to fix it .

Jay you should get the wood panel CNC'ed with a bunch of tiny wholes for ventilation

I love it, I bought this case for a friend's build. They love it, I wouldn't use this for some crazy super gaming build but someone who wants something small and functional.

Love Fractal cases, I have r6 and don't see any problems with solid panels. Sometimes its important to case be silent and look cool. But one thing what I don't like that fractal small cases usually have only 2 slot for GPU

I have a 3900x and rtx 2070 super in mine. My gpu runs at 60-70 degrees under load like rendering videos in premier but my cpu runs at around 85 with the stock cooler until I get my 240 AIO. I think with the AIO and maybe a slight under volt you can run a 3900x at great temps inside this case. For the gpu just run a more aggressive fan curve if you don’t like 60-70 under load. Beautiful case but cable management is tough.
