This is so true!! I kept fit in my 20s (in the Merchant Navy) with a rope and a pair of dumbells. Slobbed out in my 30s but got superfit for my 40th birthday (running and dumbbells). I'm getting fit again at 59 and it is all about FUNCTIONALITY. No scales, no measuring tapes. My goals are to be able exert myself for 30 minutes (and recover with dignity), to have good balance and no chronic aches and pains. I can't say that I enjoy working out. While I'm working out, I remember Muhammad Ali saying "Winning is easy, all I have to do is suffer." I definitely feel "SUPERIOR" (inside) from completing or exceeding a planned workout. And I'm not going to undermine my suffering by eating crap.

@@thefamilycoach953 best wishes on your journey. consistency is the key! Conquer your inner wimp! Sore muscles mean progress! And some sore joints can be 'worked' stronger. I developed a sore left ankle a couple months in. I stopped and stretched for a week but it didn't go away. I resumed skipping and it's still sore sometimes during the day but I jump on it for up to 40 minutes.

I got severe PTSD from working in a prison for 22 years. Depression and anxiety are part of it. I am obsessed with exercise and that is how I treat the condition. Weights , cardio and some boxing. Lately I’ve been following you guys and have been skipping again. Really enjoying it and it’s coming back quickly. Exercise is the key to everything. Really pumped about the skipping and am gonna keep going with it.

Hi Dan…this video was tough to listen to because everything you said is so TRUE! I was ‘PSYCHO’ in my 20’s.. played a lot of sports and did a lot of long distance running. I was then diagnosed with RA (rheumatoid arthritis) when I was 24 years old. It changed everything. I had to stop running as a result of the impact on my joints. I became so depressed…gained weight and just felt like what’s the point of living if I can’t do the things I used to. It took me many years with the help of chronic medication etc to manage my autoimmune condition. During the pandemic I discovered your channel and started jumping rope with the Crossrope. It changed my life. Low impact on the joints, challenging and super fun. I still struggle with depression and then I emotional eat. Please share your story about depression and anxiety…and how you overcame it. Thank you so much for inspiring me!

Hi Dan, Thanks for the inspiration, and I think everything is based on your first point. I actually have struggled all my life with my weight, at 18 I got in a really strict diet, no carbs no fats and I was able to get to my "ideal weight" in like 3-4 months, but I that was not maintainable for the same reason, I had no goal!!! So I got back to 200+ lbs and keep losing and getting +-20 pounds every other year. But now 7 months ago my wife got diagnosed with MS, and that was the turning point, ever since we are having a way more healthy lifestyle, and weight + keep moving is one of the key points there and now I have lost 50+ lbs and my wife 40+, and it really is because we do have a focus now. You been an inspiration for me and. I'm getting attached to jump rope as one of my favorite routines. Thanks dude!

I think everything you’re saying is valid. I’ve personally done or experienced many of the things you’ve mentioned. I think my favorite part of this video is when you said “Stop being a garbage can.” 😂 Like I felt that. I’ve literally been trash by choice for over 20years; I have a health condition that’s kind of out of my control but the excessive drinking and terrible eating were all my choices. Now I’m in my mid thirties, barely able to stand and as much as I dislike this version of myself, I’m working on becoming better. I’m two weeks into my wellness lifestyle and I’m staying silent about my goals for the shock factor. I’ve started and fell off so many times but my reason for starting never rang true for me all of those times before; so it was easy to get distracted and stop. Now I have a reason I’m passionate about so it’s been easier to say no to my old way of living and thinking. I know wellness/fitness is going to be something I have to focus on and work at daily. I didn’t get to this place overnight so there’s no way I’m going to lose the weight overnight. Anyway, sorry for the novel. I really liked this video because I feel like a broad audience can relate to it. Like you and I are on opposite sides of the fitness spectrum but I think what you said is honest and helpful, even if you’re calling it a rant. And depression is real and it really sucks. If you did a video about it, I’d tune in for sure. 😊

Repetitiveness is good... I have been doing the JRD Jump Rope + Dumbbell 90-Day program and the five day a week workouts are life changing. Sure it is repetitive and boring from time to time, but with some good music in the background it gets better. I already posted a comment about this a few weeks ago, but I had a heart issue at the end of January. I had a stress test done on Valentine's Day, and the results showed my heart is healthy enough to get back to jumping rope. I'm so excited!! I'll be picking up my ropes again on Monday. I'm so excited and thankful for a good outcome with my issues, and I just want to say THANK YOU for your work on Jump Rope Dudes. I ran across one of your videos one day in mid November last year, and that's all it took. I have been searching for years for something I could do to get cardio in without having to run around my neighborhood (I'm small and easy to kidnap). I hate going to the gym. I wanted something that I could just wake up and do. Something I could take with me anywhere. You introduced me to this, and for that, Dan, I thank you from the bottom of my heart. Great vid, love a good constructive rant 'cos it's real person and good energy (If it's constructive content). Don't want to Debbie Downer but Yes to more re: mental health somehow. You know it's not as simple as 'just do something'. E.g. I got Floored by menopause, like properly crashed my whole life to a halt, and all my fitness and health with it. Last I followed you guys consistently I struggled real bad to get jump rope coordination together 🤐 but will be super-stoked if I can get it together (like kids just run and skip and all that good stuff without realising). So have a think please about a good MH angle as I will. Btw totally agree re: goal-telling, somehow it sabotages my aims. Better show than tell for me. Peace! In my opinion sabotage is a necessary part to wellness and wellbeing. There comes a point when accountability catches up with you and there's nowhere to run and nobody else to blame. And when you take stock of the situation the self sabotaging efforts made stand out like chapter bullet points, unflinching and bold. That book of going nowhere fast that I wrote by myself is the bedrock of a lot of success with my weight loss. I don't want to write a sequel to a very unpopular book.

First minutes of the video is just judgment base on your experience. Not all parts of the world do what we, westerns, do. Mostly because those parts of the world that "doesn't seem to exist" in the news cannot be exposed to the lot of crap we are every single day. When we talk about globalization, it is just western, most of the USA and Europe culture spread around the world. So, yes, it is american bullshit. The US softpower here in Brazil is dominant. I am here speaking a poorly english without even go through a class, it is just exposure to the language. Same for what we consume, eat and think. So, it is correct to put part of what we are in the western capitalism
