I totally agree with your statements. My son works for Schneider, and I get on him for working for those peanuts. Not even a whole peanut if you ask me. To be clear, my son is a new beginner with a little over 4 months under his belt. So I get that he needs the experience, but at the end of the day, I feel that Schneider isn't a good paying company for my son. They have good training but are too strict for such a low paying job.

You are so correct. The over the road drivers are on the completely different pay scale than the LTL drivers. LTL makes a lot more money because they are a smaller company who has smaller shippers/receivers so they can charge more. And let’s not forget some of these, like ABF and UPS Shit packages and smaller orders are unionized so because the competition is unionized the other companies have to naturally raise their wages to compete. Most mega companies that are OTR pay somewhere around the 40 to 50 to maybe barely $.60 per mile and there’s a lot of unpaid downtime still. A lot of these companies Run off foreigners and convicts. They hire what they can afford in many times. It’s not quality drivers. Or maybe it’s brand new drivers that then move onto other segments of the industry. Anyone who worked their salt will not stay in the carrier unless they have a very specific route, contract, or opportunity.

Yellow just went out of buisness putting thousands of experienced drivers out of work in 2023. Wages are not gonna increase anytime soon. No one is gonna go out of buisness due to lack of drivers. As for Mega carrier policies, they can do whatever they want because they have no incentive to be driver friendly when people are waiting in line for jobs. Its an employer's market right now and will remain so for another few years. New drivers or drivers not wanting local work are stuck with OTR because they don't have the skills or desire to unload trailers that many local drivers have to deal with. I would expect a local driver that has to make 10 deliveries a day while unloading his own trailer to make more than an OTR driver that has all no touch, mostly drop and hook freight that mega carriers have.
@B2Speaks
@B2Speaks 3 ай бұрын
I agree with almost everything you stated. As a local guy myself, I still believe otr Truckers should be the highest paid drivers in the industry. If a otr driver has driven 5+ years in all 48 states with a clean driving record, no tickets, and an impeccable service record, then they should be the highest paid. Especially with the time spent away from home, too. Nothing against the hard gigs like food, beverage, and ltl drivers. I've done all of them in my 10 year career. But we MUST ensure we fight to ensure otr drivers are well taken of in many aspects. Without them, we local guys will suffer too. I appreciate you watching and supporting the channel. God bless you, my sister!

Not nowadays. You have some companies out there that pay all their drivers the same low rate regardless of experience level. Mega carriers might offer a few cents more for experienced drivers, but the overall gross won't be to far above the inexperienced. Also, I'm speaking about traditional otr roles. You are qualified to make top dollar if you have a clean driving record with little to no tickets or accidents and experience. So I'm gonna disagree with you on that. I do, however, agree with who takes the jobs when Americans stop taking the scraps that are offered by some companies. We already see that happening now. I've even made videos speaking about the takeover of American trucking jobs by immigrants, most of whom are here illegally.

@@B2Speaks you know how you get a raise in trucking? Either you stay with them for years or quit and find another company that's paying. At the same time, truck drivers think that you should only work 3 days , be home everyday get full benefits and get paid $150k a year it doesn't work like that. I'm not defending Schneider, jb hunt or any big mega carrier but in order to get money you have to sacrifice your time. You can't have both. If you have enough experience and your driving record is clean why shoot yourself short and go to a starter company like Schneider in the first place unless you're doing intermodal and you live in the radius of the rail yard? I know drivers doing Schneider intermodal making over $80k.
