Boomer Oh my god it has so many of the top action scenes. The opening infiltration on the boat, Fury’s escape in the SUV, going up against the Winter Soldier on the freeway and of course taking down the helicarriers. Even the downtime in between is some of the best character building stuff in the MCU. Everything between Steve and Natasha and then the gravitas that Robert Redford brings to the film...too good.

This is why I love Thor 2: • The way it was shot. Some of these shots are some of the most beautiful I've seen in the 8 movies so far. Specifically, the one on the Dark Elves' homeworld where Thor is just blowing ppl away with his hammer and the camera is following him from behind and his cape is flowing and it's amazing. The Frigga "Burial/Goodbye" scene is amazing. When you really think about it, this is the first movie to have artistic kind of shots. •The overall style and feel of the movie. This is the first time, that a movie had a distinct feeling to it. You felt like "Yeah I'm in Asgard". And they nailed the fantasy/kings and gods feel. Their costumes and the sets they built and the specific look of Asgard is distinctive and unique. And don't even get me started on the Dark Elf Homeworld. It looks soo cool. With the fucking Black Hole as a Sun and the darkness and the grittiness. Perfect! •The fucking characters. For the first time Thor's buddies get a lot more to do and shine. Lady Sif in particular was great and the chemistry with her and Natalie Portman was really well done and encapsulated the competitiveness yet the mutual love for this hunk of man (Seriously look at those abs). Then there's Heimdall. One of the coolest side characters in the MCU. His action spot was amazing (more on that later). The main cast obviously is amazing. Odin, Loki, Thor all rock the screen when they are on it (especially Tom Hiddlestone and Anthony Hopkins). Overall, every character feels fleshed out and contributes to the main story (apart from the Human side characters) • Loki (No seriously there's a whole point on him). What can we say about Loki and Tom's performance that hasn't already been said? He does a great job of really making us question "Whose side is this guy on?". "Is he really evil or is it just a facade". The latter is really emphasized in one of the best scenes in the movie when Loki is shown grieving Frigga's loss. The moment when he "betrays" Thor really got me and I was like Fuck this guy only to be baffled and surprised by the subsequent reversal. This I felt was one of the best moments of the film. Fuck... Loki is good. • The Action. Oh my god the action in this movie is possibly my favourite in any Thor movie. The finale and how they play with the portals and Mjolnir is ingenious. The opening action scene is amazing where Thor just uppercuts a rock guy (like Korg) to death. The moment where everything slows down and he jumps to stop Malekith from killing Frigga was great as well. And what about that little moment when he just jumps and twists off a balcony and catches Mjolnir mid-air. Holy shit that was breathtaking. And that's pretty much it. Good job if you made it this far and have a Marvellous day.

Some additional trivia for you guys: Loki was originally supposed to die in Dark World. After initial test screenings, Joss Whedon was actually flown to London for an uncredited re-write that included a scene showing Loki alive at the end as well as a major overhaul of the scene where Thor visits Loki after Frigga’s death. Whedon also peppered a few more one liners into the script.

Very fun episode of MCU in Review! Keep up the awesome content Kinda Funny!!! :D Here is my new ranking so far: 1. Avengers 2. Ironman 3. Black Panther 4. Ironman 2 5. Captain America: The First Avenger 6. Ironman 3 7. Thor the Dark World 8. Thor 9. Hulk This movie had parts that were better than all of the first Thor, however all the lows in this movie is much lower than Thor 1. I really liked Loki through out this whole movie. The serious parts of him being escorted to Odin at the beginning and him finding out about his mother's death were pretty awesome. He also had some super funny parts like him turning into Captain America, making fun of Thor and him saying there will be a line for killing him if he betrays Thor. Also, Thor hanging is hammer on the coat rack was so funny. This movie does fall flat with the plot and the villain. I agree that Thor is a better movie on paper but Thor the Dark World was more enjoyable to me. -Zanfare

Just posted my list before seeing this, absolutely identical. Thor the Dark World was so much more fun than the first Thor although the first is a better movie overall. And I cannot understand how Hulk is so high up on their list, it feels like they only put it there out of pity somehow because it isn't as "Marvel" as the others.

Loki being on the throne is the reason Hela came back because he ran the kingdom into a hell hole. So it was very important.
@loganbigmo5 жыл бұрын
He didn't exactly run it into a hell hole, nor does that have to do with why Hela returned. However, Loki being on the throne did cause Hela's return, since he stripped Odin of his powers causing Odin to become mortal, Odin began to die, and thus Hela was freed.

My understanding of the drama surrounding the movie is that Patty Jenkins wanted the villain to be Hela and Feige was on board. But the Marvel Creative Committee, that Feige had to answer to at the time (he got moved directly under Disney Studios right before Civil War came out), shot it down because they were worried Hela wouldn’t sell toys. So, Feige has to scrap Jenkins’ idea and Jenkins had to leave the project. With very little time left, they had to scramble to find a new story which is why the villain was trash.

The Collector frequently has multiple collections in the comics. Some are even on museum ships. It seems that The Collector knows of their power more intimately than others do. 2 options, spread them out or keep them close. If he spread them out, it wasn’t in the same facility as the Guardians explosion. If he kept them close, he may still have it in a super-ultra-safe lockdown vault. We never saw how he would lock it away. I assume it wouldn’t be on display. [Cue Adam Warlock debate here.] it seems the helper didn’t know about the stone’s power until he explained it to the Guardians, so she may have not known about his “other vault” with other stones. Just some thoughts to ponder.

Just to clarify, the movie never actually said they used the Tesseract to repair the Rainbow Bridge. Although that is what happened, this was revealed in an MCU tie-in comic. It was never explained in the movie & I'm surprised the MCU didn't bother giving an in-film explanation.

I kinda feel like they equated the quality of the villain with the quality of the overall film. Malekith is definitely the worst villain, but to rank this lower than The Incredible Hulk, Iron Man 3 and the first Thor is insanity.
@Mike_L.6 жыл бұрын
IMO both Thor films are better than The Incredible Hulk, an inconsequential and forgettable film (still a fine movie and being an early mcu film, I can forgive the lack of explicit tie-in). Malekith really is a terrible/the worst villain, but at least he's not a copy paste villain I guess..?

My list so far: 1. Marvel’s The Avengers (2012) - Although it wasn't as good as I remembered. The highs are still higher than anything so far. 2. Iron Man (2008) - Better than I remembered. Now I see why people think this is the best movie. Easily a classic. 3. Iron Man 2 (2010) - Way better than I remembered. Thought this would be bad but was so much fun to watch. So many fun characters and interactions. 4. Captain America: The First Avenger (2011) - Meh, this is mainly because Cap is my favourite character but also the movie has a lot of heart. 5. Iron Man 3 (2013) - Way better than I remembered. I thought this would be garbage but it was surprisingly entertaining if you turn your brain off. 6. Thor: The Dark World (2013) - Way better than I remembered. Same reason as Iron Man 3 but doesn't have the RDJ charm, although Loki might be as awesome. 7. Thor (2011) - Worse than I remembered. Hated the diagonal camera stuff, took me completely out of the movie. Still kind of fun but entirely forgettable. 8. Incredible Hulk (2008) - Don't even remember watching it the first time, probably won't ever watch again. Not including Black Panther yet because it needs a second watch to be fair but probably above Captain America: The First Avenger. I don't understand how Incredible Hulk is so high up on Kinda Funny's list. Andy was right (I think it was him), it was so forgettable, little to no comedy prevented me from having fun at the very least, and the villain was just laughably bad (although so was Malekith).

I agree with Tim & Nick; found this better than Thor 1. I went into this remembering it as being so bad it was a waste of a sequel & Thor was whack, but it wasn't as bad as I remembered & there are nuggets of Thor's comedic nature which would get significantly expanded in Ragnarok.

According to a Thor Wiki: "Thor is the Norse God of thunder, lightning, storms, and strength, a son of Odin, husband of Sif and the father of Magni and Modi." And also this: "In Norse mythology, Thor is a Æsir god associated with thunder, lightning, storms, oak trees, strength, the protection of mankind, and also hallowing and fertility." That being said - yes, this was one of the worst of all the Marvel movies.
