You sir have just earned a SUB from me. My cardiologist said to " Quit Salt " If more doctors preached these exact things you are talking about we would be off the meds. I had a BP in the hospital last year of 290/270 not a misprint. I am currently doing lots of research to get off the 4 meds that I'm currently on now. At one point while reading a book called "The Salt Fix" I was adding more salt & my BP was going down. I told the cardiologist & was made to feel like a idiot. Well I was seeing the results with my own two eyes but the cardiologist wasn't having it. Doctors have preached for many many years that salt is the problem & I can speak from experience that sugar is the cause & not salt. I'd like to add that we need good salt though instead of table salt. In the salt fix book the doctor says the best in the U.S. is Redmonds Real Salt. Honestly the only noticably luck I have had with lower my BP over the years is a Carnivore diet last year but couldn't stay in the game. One other time I drank skim milk everyday & that lowered it maybe 10 points. Carnivore dropped it about 50 within a couple weeks & I salted the hell out of all my meat. I'm currently on a Water Fast trying to make it 7 days to clean out big pharma hoping & can steer towards a carnivore lifestyle afterwards & regain my good health. Thanks for sharing & I look forward to future videos. 😎👍

Doctors preached for years that egg consumption should be limited to a low amount per week to help against high cholesterol levels. And told my grandpa also that he should eat margarine instead of butter. Times don't change much, I was recently told that I have to go on meds that could screw up my liver and kidney function in order to lower cholesterol because, "you can only lower LDL cholesterol about 10-15 points by changing your diet" No, changing my diet to keto temporarily has raised my LDL to such a high level and when I slow down on the animal proteins the LDL will go back down!

Thank you for this!!! I was just told my bp quite high & I have put on prob 15 lbs in last few months & I know it is from eating a lot of carbs/starches. I just turned 50 in April. I did not know that sugars & starches can cause high bp. I have done intermittent fasting before & had lost 10 lbs in 5 weeks & felt amazing!! Time to switch my mindset & get back into the game, thank you!!

Fasting helps with my bp number, but nothing has helped more than breathing low and slow. Inhale through the nose for 4 seconds, hold briefly, exhale 7, hold briefly. I try to get about 5 to 6 breaths per minute. When i do that on a walk, I get a normal BP reading when I get home. And it seems like my reading is always good a few minutes after an intense weightlifting session.

Andrew Huberman has an interesting video on the "physiological sigh", which is essentially what you're describing, and its benefits for lowering anxiety which is obviously related to BP. Good to read you have an intense weight lifting session as part of your regimen since the only downside to intermittent fasting is the loss of muscle along with fat for us older folks, weightlifting being a great remedy for that.

My BP reading has dropped from 201/100 to 99/58 , my waistline from 42 to 36 -37, my weight from 94 to 88. I gonna stop taking pills just. Thanks be to God Almighty.

It is true. I have chronic high blood pressure, and no medications brings it down. Many M.D.s told me to stop salt, yet my pressure is still high. I think that I am insulin resistant and these doctors don't bother running tests to check this. Lazy. Two things, I suspect it's my sugar habbit and food sensitivites that's causing my hypertension, and a hiatal hernia causing these issues. Now, I have to scrape up cash, because my medical insurance won't cover real doctors, which are the holistic doctors: naturopaths, accupuncturists, ayurvedic, and chiropractors. This is so unfair that health insurance companies will cover only M.D.s that throw drugs at our symptoms. I suffered for 11 yrs with these conditions, but mainly chronic hypertension, which gave me a stroke, and severe GI issues, along with gallstones and kidney stones (can't have oxalates now). It's been hell for me and my family. They suffered because of me and my health.
@lisaa8795
@lisaa8795 Жыл бұрын
It's not laziness on the part of doctors, more likely it's the cost of insulin testing and the mandate from insurance companies to keep costs down. I don't think doctors are lazy, but they don't learn enough about nutrition in med school.

I just found out during pregnancy that my blood pressure has been high and potassium levels have been low for so many years due to a non-cancerous tumor on my adrenal glands. They diagnosed me with aldosteronism. Now I have to take Spironolactone and a heart medication due to the blood pressure effecting my heart. I was known as the mystery patient because it took so long to figure out why blood pressure pills weren’t working for me. I still struggle with blood pressure. I have been health conscious for a number of years and a year ago I started doing intermittent fasting. I also exercise, do yoga and jump on my rebounder. I am 80 years old and take no medication, pass all my physical examinations with my doctors. At one time I had high blood pressure but got it under control. I don’t have a weight problem, it has always stayed down naturally, I’ve noticed since doing intermittent fasting I am dropping a few pounds. My weight has always been around 150 pounds since I was in high school. I’ve noticed since doing intermittent fasting I am losing weight, what can I do to prevent this?

I think the minimum amount of daily sodium and potassium you mentioned is way off. The upper limit of RDA consumption of sodium is 2400mg. The LOWER limit is only about 500mg. (I recall the quantity of sodium being raised from 2000mg (or 5g of sodium chloride) due to pressure from food industry lobbyists years ago.) Average adults with normal kidneys would be healthier if they were closer to 1g of sodium a day. 2.4g is definitely not all needed for health. It's excessive and a generous upper limit. The NIH recommends average-sized adult males to consume 3400mg potassium and average-sized adult females (not pregnant) to consumer 2600mg.

Thank you for the tips. For your information, Ramadhan is the Muslim month of fasting. Nothing to eat or drink or smoke, from the crack of dawn to sunset, for 29/30 days consecutively. The month is meant to clean one spiritually. But, medicine tells us it cleans up the body as well. That is good news. However, I am a recent patient of high blood pressure. Despite observing fasting, I notice my blood pressure ranging from 135/150 (systolic) and 78/84 (diastolic). Fasting has not helped my blood pressure problems. Since I am diabetic also, I take extra sweet stuff in the form of either honey or dates in the morning. This to ensure my sugar level does not fall abnormally low during the period of fasting. I am not taking sugar except in natural fructose form. If you can, please advise as to what it is that I am doing wrong. I also take 500 mg Metformin and 2 mg glimperide in the morning when I am having something to eat.

Check your blood sugar often that will show you how high is your blood sugar. Educate yourself. You may have to check your sugar 5 or 6 time until you feel educated that what you ate and how it impacted blood. Fasting alone won’t help. You need to watch what you eat. Prophet Mohammed and other shanties would eat very little even when breaking the fast. By the way please reply if by now you found your way to reduce bp naturally?

I believe myself to be insulin resistant, but haven't been diagnosed. Doctors keep throwing meds at me. I'm taking the meds, but want to resolve this with diet and exercise. If I adhere to the direction you just mentioned with IF (intermittent fasting) will that help? I don't want to go KETO, but don't see a lot of information on IF without KETO.

@Native Routes Yes, you can. Also coffee. And you can even add some cream, coconut oil &/or grass-fed butter. In fact, there is something called bulletproof coffee that is very popular amongst intermittent fasters, and it is coffee w 1 Tbsp each coconut oil (or MCT oil) & butter added. The reason these fats don't break a fast is bcs pure fat is the only calorie-dense food that doesn't trigger production of insulin. And neither does herbal tea, green tea and plain coffee; in fact, the latter 2 actually reduce feelings of hunger, so are often recommended for fasting. But don't add milk bcz the milk sugar & protein will trigger insulin and the protein will also stop autophagy. Pls check out the KZbin videos of Dr. Sten Eckberg, Dr. Berg & Dr. Jason Fung. They all have excellent videos on this subject. But in a nutshell, what breaks a fast is anything that triggers insulin, and what breaks autophagy is protein.

My BP is usually 160/105 and I am 40 years old. They put me on BP meds 50 mg. and It only brought the number down by a little bit. My off days I only eat twice a day, and work days 3 times. I eat well. every once in a while I will treat myself to some fast food from wendys or something. But is it possible to lower the BP just by dieting alone? Also I need a meal plan to follow. Thanks

I'm in the same boat! I'm 43 and my bp was just about the same as yours! A little higher on the diastolic. I exercise 45-60 mins every single day but never watched my diet. Began intermittent fasting but cut out sugar and most carbs. The BP meds & all the fasting has helped bring it down about 10-12 points.

@@BarbellRoy Only brought it down that much? hmm figure it would go way down if you are doin all that. I take beet root capsules, and a bunch of other vitamins, maybe that will help also.

@@65vwbug87 Sorry. Guess I should've said I've only been on the meds for a month. But my doctor and myself are happy it's at least gone down. Another factor is that my entire family on both sides have a history of high blood pressure. Some of em an extreme high case of it.

I cured my high bp by eating only one meal at 2 to 3 pm and a small snack at the end of the day 6 to 7 pm. Low carb, high fat, med. Protein. Good luck...be patient and you will see good results in less than a week. Exercise daily...walk at leasr 1 hour per day.

Cardiologists told me to cut sodium. I did for 20 plus years, but still have HBP. I also have CKD so my potassium levels can get dangerously high. Is 4700mg of potassium too high for someone with CKD?

That would be a great question for your cardiologist due to your existing condition.

I eat the same times as you but my BP is 140/80. That’s along with taking Valsartan. Why can’t I get that down? I also can’t lose weight.

@Passy MG beauty's Hi! Pls don't lower your salt. Just use your sense of taste to guide you. IOW, if it takes too salty, it is, so just salt "to taste." Dr. Jason Fung has an excellent video on here about this, and also about all things having to do w the causes of HBP (metabolic syndrome, hyperinsulinism, insulin resistance). Just do a search for "Jason Fung." (Not Dr Jason Fung, which isn't his real site.) In fact, if I could do it over again, knowing what I know now, I would never have started on my BP meds to begin with. I would have changed my diet to address my progressively worsening metabolic syndrome, as I now believe my hypertension would have cleared up as well on its own just from that. But it's 10 yrs later, and so, taking a little longer for me. But I can say that after 3 months on a keto/IF diet, my BP is lower than it has been in 15 yrs, and I am hopeful to begin reducing my meds soon! So good luck on your journey back to health, Ms. Passy,. My best recommendations for your concerns: the videos of Drs. Jason Fung, Sten Eckberg (or it might be Ekberg), Ken Berry, Berg, & Saladino.

@@donovanwilliamsroker4734 Yes, exactly. That's the recommendation of Drs. Fung, Ekberg, Berg, Berry and many others. That's what I did - and stopped limiting my salt - and after 4 months, my BP is finally low enough that I anticipate going off my meds soon - at least the Atenelol.
@cherylh4688
@cherylh4688 3 жыл бұрын
And another recommendation, Passy, from Dr. Berg: AGED (black) GARLIC, which you can buy in caps on Amazon (much easier than trying to make it yourself). He has a video on this and says studies have shown it to be equally as effective for lowering BP as Atenelol specifically (one of the more "dangerous" BP meds, that I have been on for almost 10 yrs w only modest success). W regard to the aged garlic, I am waiting for my first order now, so can't recommend it from experience; but there are many commenters who did after his video. But I do want to attest that thanks to a strict " healthy keto" diet (Dr. Berg), not limiting my salt anymore but letting my taste buds guide me to how much to use (Dr. Fung) and using Himalayan pink salt mostly (misc), AND eliminating all the foods I discovered were causing my body's inflammation (Dr. Gundry), my BP is finally lower than it has been since I was in my 20s (I'm 73). My doctor had told me it was very unlikely I would ever be able to get off my meds, but if you listen to the doctors I recommended earlier, you will learn that w a keto diet, AND intermittent fasting, getting off one's meds is more the norm now than the exception. And happily, I hope/expect to be joining that group soon! So good luck to you, Passy! But first, please listen to some of the videos of Dr. Fung. He will easily explain to you how your diet (high carbs) and lifestyle (eating too frequently, thus keeping insulin too high) has probably led to your high blood pressure to begin with (as it did mine).

Can I assume that when you say "child bearing age" you mean "child bearing age AND wanting to bear children" not necessarily just the age bracket? I am female in my 30s but have zero desire or intent to ever become pregnant.
