I can eat a lot of hot dogs and fries without getting fat. Different ppl have different metabolism. Then again I exercise intensely once a week and pace around a lot and lift a few weights a few times a week but not much really

The thing is many of these people have had such bad habits for so long that they probably really can feel like they're depriving themselves and making an effort yet still be doing abysmally. I had to change my diet for health issues and it takes a lot of effort and commitment to break long engraved habits completely.

I watched an old ep of "Dr. G, Medical Examiner". She had just finished an autopsy on another obese, dead, young person. She listed all the many ways that obesity will kill you prematurely and ended with, "I have never had an OLD, morbidly obese person on my table." I loved how she was so straight about it, not influenced by the idiotic "Healthy at any weight" or worried about being "fatphobic". Can't argue with statistics.

Exactly. And addiction is an attempt to escape from deep seated trauma, often in food addiction specifically there's very often a history of sexual abuse/childhood trauma. People making ignorant judgmental comments when they know nothing about it. As if they are perfect too.

I don't think so. I think they almost all have the same mindset. They don't think that they eat that much when they cheat because they have no concept of calories. They think that they have been working hard, but they haven't been. Too many of them think that the surgery will fix everything. Most of these people need to deal with the pain that causes them to over eat. I wonder why he doesn't send them to therapy first.

@@jenz3824 I have seen him refer people, but it is only after they have failed to meet their weight- loss goals two or three times. If he sent them as a condition of being accepted into the program, they could start working on their reasons for eating before he has them go on the diet. The therapist could also help them develop coping strategies for when they want to over eat. On the shows that I have seen, most of them go and usually get something out of it.

The mind has to accept that you the patient must be willing to put in the work. Making better food choices and moving the body. Get up off the chair and move. I think they should get therapy first, otherwise the alternative to their emptiness and unhappiness which has become their friend, will be too difficult to face, hence regression.
