As always, thanks for your guides! They've really helped me as I leveled. However, a good thing to note is that the Coincounter does have AOE markers now (not sure when it got added), which made that boss a lot less stressful.

That Coincounter death was some real bawlsheeeet! So the tank was a new leaf and I got a hint from them that they might not be so familiar with the dungeon. As I know Coincounter can be dangerous I asked beforehand if they knew the tactics. They told me yes and asked why, so I mentioned how I was just double checking as I'm always happy to give quick explanations if people sometimes don't know. Anyway the fight starts and Coincounter begins his 100 ton swing. I see that the tank isn't moving away and neither is the melee dps. I know this attack hits like a truck but wasn't sure at the time if it was a guaranteed one-shot. I feel I'm far enough away and figure that the new leaf dps has the highest chance of buying the farm - so I quickly go to start precasting a heal on him... only to realise I wasn't far enough back and got sent to Stardew Valley. Both the tank and melee dps take the hit there too but they both must dodge it because it does no damage to either. So basically there's me with the Dungeon Master title, asking if these new leaves know what to do and even though all 3 of us fuck up, I'm the one that gets the meet & greet with the ground thus seem to be the only one who fluffed it. God damnit. The shame of it all... Moral of the story: Coincounter is a cheating bastard. - Also, you're _supposed_ to stack on the boss for Eye of the Beholder but the attack is pretty fast and it's not that damaging to get hit by it so I excluded that part from the guide.

No worries! I noticed that the guides I used to complete these dungeons originally didn't tend to give me as much detail as I would have liked to first time them as a tank. As a result (and a fellow tank) I always tried to make sure that first time tanks would get all the information they need (usually where to go or risky pulls). Glad to know it's been working :)

I let the party know it was my first run here and I apologised incase I screwed up/died in advance but 1 run was all it took, no deaths, no wipes or anything and took around 10/15 minutes. Everyone in the party was very helpful as well, offering advice and answering any questions. 10/10 would recommend your guides to any new player. Oh man, I watched this guide just to get your thoughts on the dungeon. Some of my worst memories in FFXIV are healing this and The Vault. I really don't think I'm an elitist, and I've never been accused of being one, but MAN I've had so many DPS claim to know the mechanics in this dungeon and then proceed to just.. well, ignore them. It's a real pain as a healer when you have DPS/Tanks running around with 5+ stacks of the debuffs or sitting in the 100 ton swings. I'm a Tank main but I leveled a healer to 80 to get better at tanking and this dungeon was just painful. Also, my own personal QQ aside, great guide as usual! (and I got an actual lol out of the "public humiliation" debuff and the Cow and Chicken baboon was a blast from the past for me)
@TomScottDoesStuff5 жыл бұрын
:D I'm not sure what guide I watched for this dungeon originally but I seem to remember thinking that on the final boss it's best to wait for 4 or so stacks on the debuff before dropping it. I did that on my first run back here for the video and realised that my information was perhaps a little wrong when 4 stacks took me down to like 20% health lol. It does seem a dungeon to catch a lot of people out. That first room can easily wipe from pulling too much stuff by mistake, the first boss can put a real strain on your healer if the group doesn't pay attention to the mechanic, coincounter can twat people for days with those ninja attacks and the final boss can also be a bit tricky if people don't drop stacks. A lot of ways to mess up and put an unfair amount of pressure on the healer. Also that Bad Breath debuff is legit. Anyone gets hit with that and their entire party health frame becomes a giant 'I dun fucked up' sign lol I.R. Baboon is a ledge :D

Hi Robin thanks for the kind words, I'm happy to have been able to help! Unfortunately I don't intend to make more guides for this game as I have struggled too many times to keep playing. Snowcloak is not too bad though, a little tricky on one boss as the tank but as long as your group isn't too oblivious it should be doable. I used Mizzteq's guide for it myself at the time and it was fine. Anyway good luck and you're welcome!

Hiya. Hardmode dungeons would be the plan once I'm finished with the main progression of dungeons/trials which wont be too far off. One of the main reasons for doing my own versions of everything was so that I would finally remember the tactics of all the hardmode dungeons (not that I've actually been able to make any still!). Good you find them amusing though. (here comes the shameless plug :D) If you're bored feel free to check out some regular game videos I've done, they're all filled with a similar level of derision so might be you'll find something amusing there too :D Anyway, thanks for the support! (Also MTQ's guides are probably still great for those dungeons, just discard about 80% of the difficult/scary vibe you get as they're so out of date compared to the videos).

That was our only wipe/death though and it's thanks to this guide. I did notice though that the coincounter boss has displays for his aoe attacks now on the floor, must have been added recently.

@cateyes483 жыл бұрын
I looked up this video because I randomly got dropped in this level as a scholar yesterday. I also haven't played the game in a while and needed a refresher. It really helped! Especially the comment about the first room being annoying. The first room kept wiping us because one of the dps was running around and attracting add-ons, then bring it to an overwhelmed tank. The tank was taking more damage than I could heal while I was also trying to heal the dps. At one point a dps aggro-ed a few mobs, panicked, and ran straight towards me wanting to be healed. I automatically did when I saw that his life quickly start to dwindle... The mob transferred over to me. They didn't fully regroup after the first wipe and ran back one by one to their deaths. We didn't get past the first room. I was blamed and told I was a crap healer after our(sort of) second wipe before they all bailed. Each one told me off and I didn't have time to type anything in my defense. I usually do pretty well so I kept thinking about what they said after I logged off. Was it really my fault? Played through it again today after watching your video though. I needed to prove something to myself. No deaths with a new party that I solo queued into as healer! First room was no issue at all this time around. They knew to take it slow. :)

@TomScottDoesStuff3 жыл бұрын
Hi Lander! Crystal tower is on my radar but it's difficult. The raids themselves are super easy but I always prefer showing instead of telling and with the randomness of which alliance group you get put in, it can make it very difficult to end up having the chance to get the right footage. Plus with 3 tanks, actually main tanking each boss is rare because everyone is so eager to do it. To some extent they require an awful lot of prep work for content that is ultimately extremely easy to clear, even blind for the most part. I did clear them all in my twitch stream and mentioned tactics (there are links in the comments of that video to jump to each raid) - but that's watching in real time and not edited properly.

I do have a question for the community: how forgiving is the player base for a slow pulling tank (aka: not doing the "wall-to-wall" pull)? I'm completely willing to do that but I don't know how effective I would be at it lol.
@TomScottDoesStuff3 жыл бұрын
Tank how you want (within reason) and fuck the rest. You will get faster as you get more experience, but having experience also means you know when to go slow. I have seen many 'good' tanks who pull non-stop with 0 raid awareness and lock healers out of fights. Do what you are comfortable with and try not to let any bad eggs affect your confidence.

Almost every single time someone from the party would just run to my fruit and eat it before going to another spot and standing there. They quickly realize that I'm literally holding their life in my hands as they tank the floor for the rest of the fight. Or the second most annoying thing, the dps that just runs and jumps around without doing anything.
