I actually think, like a lot of things within the Sopranos, everyone is both partially right and partially wrong here. Obviously I could be wrong about parts of what I’m going to say, too, but here’s my thoughts. I think Carmella is bright enough to have suspicions about whether Adrianna is alive or dead. I think Tony got her to a point where she was willing to believe Christopher (and by proxy Tony) didn’t have her killed. I then think, because the character of Tony Soprano really isn’t that bright, he doesn’t know when to shut up. If he had stopped at how it’s sour grapes over Christopher moving on and Ade going off the deep end after the relationship ended that are causing Adrianna’s mother to think the Sopranos had her killed, I truly think for her own peace of mind’s sake Carmella would have convinced herself Tony was telling the truth. However, after he told her “let’s not do anything to sabotage his progress” while nervously holding the wine glass to his mouth, she knew what really happened, and she left the table. As an aside, I think it’s revisionist history to paint Tony as high IQ in the Many Saints of Newark. Throughout the series, everyone not named Meadow prove time and time again that they’re dumb as a sack of rocks lol.

I respect you’re opinion, but i agree to disagree with it. Carmella and Tony were together way before he became a boss, they were together since high school... and according to Tony, they were “piss poor together” She wasn’t with him for the money; I think Carmella might be one of the most misunderstood characters on the show. I believe she was voluntarily in denial about who he was as a boss to justify her staying with him... she struggled with that, thus, her meetings with the priests and the Jewish psychiatrist who wouldn’t take her “blood money”. I do believe she loved Him, and as much as he dogged her out with the cheating, I believed he loved her too... I also believe that She was his backbone and that Tony probably would have gotten killed a long time ago had it not been for Her. She was the strength of their family and He knew it.
@ericnelson91003 жыл бұрын
@@manwomanboogie Carmela and Tony were in no way complex characters, they were completely one-dimensional. Although because of their phoniness, one can be easily be forgiven for thinking otherwise, that was part of Chase's brilliance! The only real complex characters I would say were Adriana and Artie, maybe Charmaine too had she been more developed. And Tony was never poor, his father was a made man and therefore always had some access to money. Really he's no different from Trump or George Bush, in the sense that his standing is due to who his father was. Most of the characters, with the exceptions of Ade, Artie and Charmaine were driven by money, power and comfort, that was their guiding light. I'm not saying Carmela didn't have strengths; she was obviously a great cook and knew how to put on airs, plus she was more sophisticated than her own mother (which isn't saying much, although she still had antiquated views on abortion and LGBT issues). But greed drove her more than anything else, hence she would never interfere in Tony's sordid business affairs. Plus, in all fairness, it's not as if she would've been able to do anything about it; the feds already knew there was foul play but had zero proof, and Carmela had nothing to offer that would change anything. There's a reason why these gangsters don't share such info with their wives, and no, it's not because they're worried about making them accomplices.

Tony brushes past that little detail as if it doesn’t matter, but it’s technically true that Chris “dumped” Adriana when he sided with Tony. They also use the term “dumped” to refer to getting rid of corpses… As long as there is a grain of truth to Tony’s lies, he can confidently continue doing it. I've come to realise that Sopranos is really just a collection of scenes of Gandolfini breathing heavily while drinking red wine and eating cold meats.

I can’t tell you how many Livias I’ve known in my life. They act like insufferable assholes but they’re hurt when someone tells them to shove it. They’re incapable of realizing people don’t enjoy being degraded and will act accordingly. I have no sympathy for them.

If the FBI came to Liz's house, I don't know why Christopher wasn't even questioned. It is a good thing Tony wasn't questioned, because he couldn't even keep his story straight with Carm about who dumped who. "You know what I mean" wouldn't fly with the feds.

This was the only time of this entire TV show Tony talked with a clear head and really made sense of a certain situation Sil was always the one who made alot of sense when it came to speaking to Tony on human level any other time Tony straight up ignore any Truth despite knowing the truth himself but Adrianna and Christopher made a horrible couple like Tony said they both was drug addicts and Adrianna never elevate Christopher as a man Tony said it best them being together was toxic

In hindsight it was pretty smart to have Silvio or really anyone kill Adrianna instead of Christopher. The feds would immediately try and take down Christopher if they were certain he was the one who did it, and considering him being so unreliable he might’ve flipped.

Interesting Carmela didn’t realize Ade flipped. Christopher was known to beat her so much that maybe one day he went too far is the most likely assumption. Carm knows something is up. It is unlikely Adriana would just completely disappear and not talk to anyone
