Thank you so much...my overall mechanics and accuracy got so much better because of these drills...i had to learn pitching myself since we don't have baseball Fields or even any coaches where I live in...and these helped me with the struggle

Thank you Coach. Wall drills you did will help my son as he likes to push himself backward off balance. Keeping the center balance straight is one of his challenges. I like the pvc drill also. You have a lot of good ones that I'll need to get back to.

Love it. My son is about to be a Junior in HS. Covid-19 shutdown is giving us lots of time to dig into drills and I plan on using a lot of this video to do so. As far as which one is my favorite, can't say, a lot of them look good, especially those that focus on a strong and correct follow through, like the "Rocker Drill" or "Sit-up Throw" for example. Thanks a bunch!

Thanks for these excellent drills. My pitchers (9-10 year olds) really benefited from learning them. The wall drill and reverse wall drill are great because the kids can do them at home inside the house. I encourage them to visualize the pitch while doing the drill. You do an amazing job demonstrating the drills. Thanks again.

John, You are doing great work. I particularly appreciate the brevity and conciseness of your videos. I can be long winded and you've helped me communicate to the twitter, snapchat age. My three favorites of these 10 are #8"toe tap", #1"wall drill" and#6 "Reverse wall" drill. #2"The Rocker" is part of our pregame trowing routine for every one. Keep it up!

have done the wall drill many times. I think it is helpful. I have also done the broomstick drill to teach the curve. Instead of a broom I used a net...Curve had to come up and over the net. Great video. We have also done the Sit n Drive drill except we called it the bucket drill.

We didn't have super professional coaches here in Austria back in the 00`s - NOT Australia ;-) - and only the top pitchers had better coaching. I used to play centerfield or third base and never really understood why sometimes I had a really fast throw and sometimes it all just felt loose and without explosive power - I still made it to the U16 national team, but we couldn't compete with the strongest European teams, we crushed Sweden though (in a game that started out pretty tight) and had a lot of fun at the championship overall - I caught a line drive in Centerfield against the Netherlands (who won the Championships). For my personal issues I actually like the first drill a lot, because opening up too early, as well as not using my back leg enough were things I did wrong, when I played baseball as a teenager back then (age 10-18). Now I'm 29 and thinking about getting back into playing as a hobby and get back together with some old friends (who are still playing regularly). Thank you for those videos you are putting out there! :-)

my high school coach picked up some pointers from the Astros pitching coach back in 2002, 1 drill he had us do to work on our stride and follow through was balance on a 2x4 piece of wood ....we would hike our leg with 1 foot on the wood and balance for 10 seconds, stride foot lands on the wood with toe pointing straight to home and then we follow through

Great vid...my boy (9 yrs old) is starting out in minors (in Australia) and wants to be a pitcher. He has been watching your uploads and doing the extras outside of training. Was looking at maybe getting a pitchers power drive shipped from the US to Aus but it is expensive. Do you have thoughts on if it is worthwhile or what you would recommend. Really wants to work on his technique, enjoys it.

Love these drills. My son has a problem with forearm flyout and I know in other videos you have suggested the TAP connection ball to help with this. I noticed there is only one size (12"). Would you recommend something smaller than that for a 10 yr old? Also, can any ball work as a substitute for the TAP connection ball or is that the one that seems to work best?

These are great pitching drills, thank you. Do you recommend doing all of these for kids 7-9 years old, or are there 3-4 that you think are best to focus on for that age group without overdoing it? Essentially the best core drills to learn. I tend to only teach pitching from the stretch at this age too to avoid too much going on.
@williamjackson356 жыл бұрын
Hello Coach Madden! I was noticing that you mentioned teaching pronating while throwing in a few of the pitching drills. What would you suggest pitchers use when throwing a Breaking ball such as a curveball?
@TJEgan-pu3to7 жыл бұрын
Great drills. How many reps and how often should these be done?
@YouGoPro7 жыл бұрын
Really you should use pitching drills to help fix a problem you are having. So I don't necessarily recommend doing ALL these pitching drills X times a week. Instead use the ones that help you fix any problems you may have and do them until your bad habits become good ones.
@anthony4526 жыл бұрын
Would you recommend throwing a lighter ball, like a Jugs Lite Flight, against a wall on medicineball days to practice mechanics? I want to incorporate some wall throwing but am not sure what would best help. I usually throw long toss by myself via a bucket of balls and finish by pulling down 70+ feet into a batting tarp. I do not have a lot of people to practice with near me when I can so I want to get the most out of every baseball session.

@Kopavi277 жыл бұрын
Question about your 45 degree angle in drill being closed off, you recommending that for youth players just learning to pitch, we teach a lot of getting glove or elbow pointed at target, this would go against a lot of the teaching we do with the rest of their throwing motions.
@garygraham21625 жыл бұрын

@jeremiahhays11027 жыл бұрын
What are you working on when you do the reverse throws?
@YouGoPro7 жыл бұрын
The back of the arm, "the brakes". It helps with being better at deceleration.
@egg40196 жыл бұрын
My son is 12 and throws all arm thus causing some pain in his shoulder. He naturally throws hard but it does him no good. First because of the amount of stress he puts on his arm causing some pain in the shoulder area. I cannot seem to get him long on separation he continues to throw like a catcher (from the ear). If you have any suggestions or other drills on top of these we would greatly appreciate it. We will be working the reverse wall drill more along with the other steps.
