'10 TRAITS OF A COVERT NARCISSIST FEMALE' discusses how Narcissistic Personality Disorder manifests in women who are covert narcissists. Covert Narcissism (also known as Vulnerable Narcissism or Introverted Narcissism) is notoriously hard to spot. We begin with a look at the traits specified in the DSM-V, a real-world example (the story of Jen and Sarah Hart and their children), and break down 10 of the Traits you're likely to spot in a Covert Narcissist Female.
This video identifies the manipulation tactics used in intimate partner violence within the context of a toxic relationship. If you are a male survivor of narcissistic abuse, a survivor in a same sex relationship with a highly narcissistic woman or the relative/friend of a female narcissist this video is for you.

Gossip.. oh boy, and like you said, so negative .. 24/7 .. it sucks the positive out of you. And they set you up to fail, either through suggestion of you/your ideas/choices not being good or moral .. or by literally doing something to sabotage e.g. try to get you yo have one too many drinks and call the police anonymously yo get you arrested for drink driving .. and you would never suspect it in a million years. And they talk about how this person is deceiving that person, or try and make you jealous in the most subtle ways, or talk about how good someone's idea was when were doing it ourselves as a couple anyway, and they bring up the topic of suicide .. like how they thought about it, or they'll pretend to do it, or talk about how this person did it after his wife left him, or ask if I'd ever do it, or stories of bad things people did .. All extremely negative. And mine was introduced to me as an angel .. oh right!

Jack Goodings I agree. They genuinely don’t want to see you happy or successful. Their Schadenfreude kicks in when they see us suffer. If things go well for us the deliberate sabotage us just to see us in pain because they feed off of it. By the time we discover what they’ve been doing they’ve usually done irreparable damage. We end up having to cut our loses as we grapple with the fact that someone so close to us was out to destroy us. Gossip is one of their favorite tools of their trade. They verbally rip people to shreds and, if you pay close attention, this is where you’ll see how disturbingly observant they are.

Adam, we make excuses & set aside our own needs because we hope for growth from our partners. I did. I consider myself a fairly intelligent person. I knew something was wrong but it didn’t matter what i did(you neither no doubt) nothing worked. It happens slowly over time. Don’t feel stupid man. Just try to look at it as an opportunity to learn more about yourself & possibly “codependent relationships”? It took me almost 7yrs to figure it out & only did because I “documented” which eventually led me to BPD, which involves a lot of narcissistic traits. I don’t feel dumb or stupid, only that I made too many rationalizations & excuses when the red flags presented themselves but hey, I’ve never been in a relationship with someone like this before & never knew the signs. 1st time for everything I guess.

Wow, you've just described my 18 year marriage to a CNF, one trait right after the other hit a bullseye. Right now we are separated and in the process of divorce and I am fighting to save my 8 and 10 year old from having to live with this any more. My biggest fear is that no one can see her for who she really is behind closed doors. Wish me luck, please.

15 years for me and going through divorce now as well. My best advice is to NEVER defend yourself and let her sink herself by talking. These demons will ALWAYS crack the mask when under stress and if you take away her fuel she will implode. The fuel, if you are grey rock or no contact is HURT. She wants to hurt you and if you don't play along the facade will fade away and she will show her true self. At least that has been my experience. Best to you and yours!

The worst part for me ( dispite the ice cold final discard) was seeing her slip through my fingers slowly but surely. Everything that once was soo perfect wasn’t good enough anymore, constant criticism put me down and her getting more and more shady about her activities (were she disappeared for hours). I loved her so much, I had the dream in my head and it got destroyed. She jumped ship as soon as I was gone, hitting the final nail in my heart. I’ll will never be able to love again this deeply but I won’t get hurt this deeply either again.... I never wish someone to experience this kind of Horror inside your Soul. Eben my worst enemy. This will change your entire way you see people, live and love. To everyone out there, who goes through the same torment: I feel you and I understand you, and I’m soo sorry you have to go through this....

@@tommyd8418 Well, all I would say is, to try and make sense of it is like trying to reason with the shark that has you in its mouth. You are trying to explain that for which there is no explanation beyond some profound 'hunger' but if you look at it in the same way as you would an alligator attack, you will understand that some sharks wear cute dresses and have nice smiles... and very sharp teeth. Right? Just don't be their food. And don't let the fact that they find food elsewhere make you resentful of fact that they are not chowing down on you. And remember, they in fact have a lot more in common with sharks than they have in common with you. :)

For over 20 years, a very close friend, for a time my "best friend," was never challenged by me, even quietly--I never complained to her, about her. The first time I did, she flew into a rage like a Walt Disney villain and became verbally abusive. She habitually maintained this saintly facade and actually told me, "You know me, I'm benign." Her rage when she decided to put me in my place a number of times was almost orgasmic. My mother, no surprise, was a mistress of the silent treatment or withering demeaning criticism, so I was pre-conditioned to accept so much of this as "normal."

All of my aunts show so many signs of covert narci, I mean all the descriptions and the confusions and the symptoms every victim has gone through can be summed up in one diagnosis--we were raised by narcs and the entire family system (mom's side) are narcs! My mom is one of them. All of their husbands were kinder humbler men who just "follow". And my dad rants about how he hates my mom every friggin day of his life. She provokes everything. It's the infamous Jezebel-Ahab love story repeated over and over again and is common plot to a narci love story.

Yep they are obsessed with having networks and somehow indeed seem to maintain those circles. I always wondered why others don't feel the dominance or feel uncomfortable in their presence or maybe in my case she is only mean to me bc I'm family and she's nice to others. I don't know. I feel like betraying my family if I say they are narcissists 😢 But I should consider the hurt they caused me through their verbal attacks, hidden but tangible demeaning behavior. My sister would recall memories and make me look selfish for eating cake with my friend which she had baked. She joked about it while we were having dinner with my sister in law, my mother and an aunt so I was unable to respond or defend bc I felt I would be the one showing an issue. My sister knew this I think she did it on purpose bc I could not react. I shut down and cried in the toilet. This can't be my imagination. I felt hurt. She was seeking confrontation to get my attention.

A very good video. I was with a covert narcissist for over 16, we had 2 kids and we split nearly 4 years ago. I was in pieces, I thought the breakup was all my fault. Videos like this helped me to understand what had really been going on over the years. I'm busy writing a comprehensive account of my marriage and divorce which will help other people going through similar experiences. It's called "Struggling through life when you're scared of your wife".

Thank you. I'm so glad to hear you go out. Narcissists are experts at shifting blame for what they do on to others. It's easy for them to do because they don't have much of a conscience. The recipient of their abuse is relentlessly gaslit and manipulated into carrying the blame for the narcissist's attitude and behavior. It was never our's not carry.

I'm glad you got away too, Nate 💐 It's actually common for survivors of exposure to pathological narcissism to self-medicate in order to cope with the abuse they've suffered. At the root of escapism and/or addiction is trauma. One thing that may be helpful as you self-heal is writing down a list of all the things your abuser did to you. When you feel the tug of the trauma bond, take out the list and re-read it so that your mind stays clear and you can keep moving forward into recovery 💛🖤

Before that I saw the competition, every conversation was an in-depth monologue of her problems, the fact that she felt entitled to have what I worked really hard to gain. She had serious control issues, often times did not finish endeavors she began, and in the end tried to sabotage an important project of mine and enlisted a flying monkey to manipulate to make it happen. Thank you so much for having this channel land these videos. They'll help me a lot to put things into the right perspective. I am a son of a covert narcissist mother - and that was hell. As a child, you are dependent and can't run away. Also, you are defenseless. Shields develop later and oftentimes they are flawed. Additionally I was rejected by my peers because I was born with a cleft and had to deal with that also. For me it is a huge revelation to learn about covert narcissist. That none of my sufferings were caused by me and that nothing I ever did to comfort my mother as ever enough. If I laid a golden egg her reply would have been: That is way to small - can't you do better? So thank you again for this content!

This video is really supportive. Thanks for creating it. …it’s amazing that once one has processed this information after having gone through a difficult experience with a covert narcissist , one can see the signs very early on. It’s very empowering. Video makers such as yourself help make this possible. Again, thank you. Once one is empowered in this way, that “magic” of a new narcissist in one’s life falls away, and I suppose so too does one’s appeal to the narcissist. It’s somehow a two-way street. Anyway, best wishes to everyone going through narcissist related turmoil. It all looks like laughable nonsense once you’re through it and safe on the other side. You will literally laugh out loud in disbelief at how silly they are and how silly it all was. Build yourself up, get support from good people who love you, reach reasonable goals, stay strong and develop a firm sense of self-reliance. Peace.

Wow! It’s like you were there by my side for the time I was in that relationship! All that’s missing is how each trait impacts on the victim emotionally. As somebody who now understands their own attachment to this type of personality and the choices i made, manipulated or otherwise, I can be somewhat forgiving of myself and them too as we both got locked in our own processes. The key difference though is my only agenda was good intention to offer and look for love, the narcissist sadly is unaware of what’s underneath their process and has their own agenda that’s driven by a deeper fear of being insignificant, they have a pathological next level low self esteem. I’m sort of ok with my experience as it taught me, and I have therefore grown albeit with pain both emotionally and physically. There was great times too, but not worth the distress in the long run. Good wishes to those trying to recover or remove and thanks for the support

Thank you for taking the time to research and create this video. It is validating to hear these traits and behaviors from someone else... I was trained to doubt myself.. my perceptions.. and own eyes... I do love and value myself.. and I'm amazed I let myself get conned so badly. How I tried to make it work! I see now.. 2years out... that there was no chance.. and I was just a cat-toy.. being batted around for enjoyment... teased... pulled apart.. and left for dead... I'm starting to get well again... but the lasting effects of the gaslighting are deep. I find my brain is sluggish, my thoughts muddy... my drive is erratic .. even when it exists... This episode was much more damaging to my psyche than I imagined... now.. all the times I said to my friends... "I'm ok.. I'm strong.. I can handle this.. I can help.." I see now that I was mistaken.. I was being systematically dismantled.. and became more and more vulnerable.. in my attempts to fix, repair, appease... Wow... How did I ever not see what was happening? So.. thank you.. it's a long road back to wellness..... and videos like this one help put the puzzle pieces together...... Kindest regards, Mark

Dear Mark, thank you for sharing your story. Many survivors of narcissistic abuse were gaslit in a power holder in childhood. As adults they may second guess themselves and abusers tend to hone in on this. It is common for survivors to experience the symptoms you describe. Sometimes survivors develop PTSD and C-PTSD from narcissism exposure. So, it might be a good idea to speak to your doctor and let them know what's going on. Recovery takes time, hard work and patience but our brains are incredible and you CAN heal. I'm glad you found this video helpful. This abuse is insidious and subtle so most survivors don't realize it until they are knee deep in it. Wishing you a full recovery x M

- Master at hiding her true nature... through deception, putting on a show, love bombing. She's an angel on the outside, but a devil in private. They're sneaky and underhanded in their abuse, using sophisticated manipulation tactics to get power/control. - Niceness to serve her agenda, admired, influential, hauntingly sweet to ingratiate herself into your life. May apologize but it's fake. Relationship moves very fast. - Triangulates you w/family & friends until you're no longer in communication with them so that only she is your main focus. You've been isolated so she has power over you. - She's dismissive but nice to you in public. When she has you she makes you feel less than others. When she has you, her mask falls off. - Over the top, holier than thou, loves what you love. - Self-pity: no one understands - She lives in her mind and she's the star, you're just a supporting role. - No boundaries and no respect for yours, she's above rules, rules are for mortals - Hypercritical, can dish it out but not receive it. - Projects her toxic behavior onto you, blaming you for what she's doing - Lies to sabotage people she's jealous of - Ungrateful, dismissive - Attention seeking, prevents others from getting your attention. - Treacherous - likes to betray people and throw you under the bus once she's used you emotionally and financially. - She's the victim and you the villain. - Discard: she'll leave you alone in a dark room, destroyed emotionally, with a broken sense of self.

Seen this in my recommendations and clicked but I want to say this. This is helpful at the same time remember to follow your heart. The heart speaks quickly and will simply say this isn't the one. Your mind will over think and analyze because that is the purpose of the mind. However, if u place priority over your heart for the mind then you will end up wasting valuable time that you will never get back. When someone wrongs you and they care about you even when they don't feel they're wrong they will reconcile and apologize. If a woman never apologizes when you make her aware that one of her actions harmed you, leave. Any moments further will develop to toxic moments and time that you can never get back because time can't be re-earned.

How can I ever recover from being manipulated, triangulated, deceived and betrayed by a pathological narcissist?
@NarcissisticAbuseRehab
@NarcissisticAbuseRehab 5 жыл бұрын
Hi Kayla, I'm really sorry that you went through so much pain. You CAN recover. It starts by recognizing and accepting that the Narcissist is a toxic deceiver. Remove them from your life and from your mind. Recognize that you've become someone else in order to comply with the Narcissist's whims. Reclaim your true, healthy self once again. Some tips: 1.) No Contact - Cease all contact with the Narcissist. Stop giving them fuel. Block them on social media, e-mail, on your phone. Do not interact with them anymore. This is to allow you the space to heal, to bleed out the poison of the Narcissist's lies and distortions. If this isn't possible because you have children, try Low Contact and Gray Rock. 2.) Relax - Narcissist Abuse causes chronic levels of anxiety and this can have a severe impact on the brain and our thinking. So once you are in a safe place bring your body into a state of total relaxation. This is to switch off the fight/flight/freeze responses the abuse has triggered. This takes some practice. 3.) Reality List - Write down everything the Narcissist did to hurt you: the manipulations, triangulations, deceptions and betrayals. Every time you feel the pull of the Trauma Bond, re-read this list to maintain your determination. 4.) Clarity List - Get a piece of paper, draw a line down the middle. On the left side write down all the painful lies the Narcissist told you about yourself i.e. "You'll never amount to anything". On the right side of the paper, write down the facts i.e. "I can do anything I set my mind to". YOU define you - not your abuser. 5.) Detach - Work on systematically withdrawing all emotion from the Narcissist. You know that this is a disordered person who is too toxic to behave like a descent human being. Every emotion you feed them turns to poison. To get healthy you must withdraw all emotional attachment to them: love, hope, trust, faith even judgement. Stick with this practice and over time you will cease to feel anything at all. Your mind is a powerful tool and it's what's going to set you free. Wishing you health and healing x M.

Kayla, Mine moved out and filed for divorce 8 months ago. To cover her behavior, she accused me of cheating on her and neglecting her. None of which was true. I found out I have 2 or 3 friends left. The rest of them have totally disregarded me. Which is fine. She found a boyfriend (narc supply ) a month after she left. I've become a hermit, and I'm a hell of a lot happier and better off now. I'm still single, I sleep good, and I'm healthy. I don't need her, her bullshit, or anyone else's. Take some time to be with yourself and you'll be just fine.

I like your insight into this topic and how you presented it. It is very helpful. May I suggest that you create a video on the topic of what is called fleas in this circle of affect from narcissistic abuse. With all of the information out there, many may be accused of narcissism because of inheritant personality traits from being abused. This is a huge problem when on social media and can create wrongful labeling. The victims are accused of narcissism because they may seek attention or may occasionally react with CPTSD traits and be mistaken as narcissistic behaviors. Thank you.

Many thanks for your suggestion about the topic of "narcissistic fleas." You make an important point: the term narcissist is often used far too loosely. Also, it's essential to our recovery to self-reflect and take personal inventory so that we can truly detox from narcissism exposure. I'm grateful for your insight, Kay!

My soon to be ex wife is a covert narc. She would constantly make me feel awful about myself and she would do her best to emasculate me all the time. in front of my friends and her family. She tried to alienate me from my family because they know me too well to believe her lies about me. it all came to a close when she cheated on me. I forgave her but she proceeded to try to convince me it was my fault and that I neglected her so she had no choice but to do what she did. When I first met her she was great. I had low self esteem when I met her and she gave me so much love and affection. Once I married her she turned onto a monster. So far our divorce is civil and she wants to co-parent our 2 year old son. She filed for divorce and said that it was because I could not forgive her for what she did. It was my fault this happened in her eyes. She told me that I stole marriage from her! Then she told me she wants to get divorced so we can start over fresh. She told me she wants me to show her the kind of love I showed her before we were married. Needless to say I'm not going go back to the abuse. Im just afraid she is going to turn my son against me. She has already done that with her family.

I'm very sorry that happened to you, Cody, because I know how painful it must be to be accused and blamed for things that simply aren't your fault i.e. your ex-partner's choice to betray you by having an affair. I'm glad you shared your story and I think other survivors will recognize their experiences in what you wrote. Specifically male survivors who can sometimes have difficulty expressing what they went through. Isolating someone from their support system, humiliating them in public and private, denigrating them to attack their confidence are all forms of domestic abuse. You don't need that in your life and I'm so glad you aren't going to go back. I can understand your concern for your son especially as she has smeared you to her family. Remember, children of narcissists only get conditional love from their disordered parent i.e. the narcissist only accepts the child if the child is like them. So you can use this to your advantage by giving your son unconditional love, allowing him to be his authentic self when he is with you and showing him through consistent action who you are over time. Merry Christmas x M

Perfect description. I was ready to stop the video because I had checked so many traits on the list it was making me feel sad at the realization of what this means for my supposed relationship. We can never, ever make a narc love themselves and giving them unconditional love in hopes of them believing they have worth will not work because they know all the REST of the abusive horrible behavior they commit against others that you dont know about. They will begin to devalue you for not realizing how truly fucked up and intentionally wrong they are and enjoy being.

This was perfect. Absolutely on point I love it. I've always felt lucky and the reason I say so is some how I came across this info awhile back and was just Interested In this personality type. Anyways I was amazed that such a person could exist 🤷🏾‍♂️😂. But I read up on it and long behold a woman at work was showing interest. So we start hanging out and this joker exhibited every single behavior. Of course I didn't let her know I was hip to her. So it was funny in a sense yet disgusting to see a woman who is so manipulative and hates herself. So Everytime she pulled some shit I'd know exactly what was going on. At first I wanted to be wrong during the love bombing phase bcus honestly I liked it. I mean who doesn't like when someone shows their love. But hers just felt fake like she was selling herself too hard. So being an empath I gave it a shot to see if I was wrong. But no I was right and intuition is so powerful once you know you have it and use it. So in turn she was frustrated with me bcus.her tactics weren't working and I follow narcissist rules to a T. The rules that help empathic people of course. So thx to channels like this I was unable to get hurt. But I still want to help anyone I can so they can avoid such trauma. Bcus in my opinion these fuckers aren't smart like everyone says. We just put our trust in them and believe there are good people left in the world. So it ain't your fault that someone used your goodness against you. This girl was a terrible narcissist and with me she met her match. Now I see why all her other exes were and looked so weak bcus a weak man is easy to control. When it was over I told her I wished her good luck n her Future and she was shocked I really didn't care after all that time. So she got discarded. And I'm sure she won't care unless the nxt guy sux. Then she'll be back but I'll never speak to her again. What a sick soul. With those piercing dim eyes.

A lot of excellent points made in your comment, E! A discerning empath is immune to a narcissist's sleight of hand. But often wisdom comes to us through pain so that we don't forget the big lessons. The more people become aware, the more than can avoid being trapped by manipulators who seek to mentally enslave others. Narcissists operate in cycles and use tried and tried manipulation tactics. Once we learn to identify them, they are very predictable. Thanks for your comment x M.
