Top Ten Poison Fighting Game Characters

Fighting games are full of characters that rely on strength, but what about that characters that use techniques that whittle away at the opponent's health instead? One of the top ways to use that style of fighting is poison. These are characters that use toxic concoctions to drain, stun, or just impede their opponent for a bit. It can be a single attack in an arsenal of many, or every attack in their moveset. Let's see who's the most poisonous of all. Also, my mom cohosts with me.

Yoshimitsu is an actual ninja. His bad stomach technique is based on dokugo. Which is a real ninja and pro wrestler technique to spit out poison or irritant at someone's eye as a distraction. And his armor is to maintain the mystique. As Yoshimitsu is a series of ninjas under the same alias who must kill the teacher before succeeding them and casting off their former identity.

Come to think of it, I've seen that technique in a few anime before (Samurai Champloo comes to mind first). The pro wrestler angle also makes sense, considering some heel characters, both irl and from gaming, like Raiden from Fatal Fury or Armor King.

I'm surprise Mortal Kombat does'nt have a dedicated poison type character (since Reptile and d'vorah have poison as a side effect of their Reptil and Insect theme respectively). It sounds like it would fit just naturally in the serie.

Hmm, that would be a pretty cool idea for a new character that utilizes poison/venom abilities in their moveset. Heck, perhaps a fatality of theirs could be where they inject some kind of poison into the opponent that causes them to spazz out and have blood violently pour out of every orifice (mouth, eyes, nose, ears, etc) until they just collapse into a large pool of their own blood from poisoning (based off of the type of effect Boomslang snake venom causes to those bitten by it).

Closest we currently have is MK1 Shang Tsung with his alchemy. He has toxic potions in both his fatals and his lethal injection brutality dissolves their skin.

@@terry.1428 Oh yeah true! Plus one of his fatalities does have a snake-like dragon come out of them through the alchemic potions, so I guess he has something similar to something close to a boomslang.

@@unclepaul1995 Eh other characters had did before her like Shao Khan killing off Kung Lao, yeah he's a boss character but when has any other so called henchman/woman has ever actually killed off any of the good guys? And they mostly have plot armor of their own so it's different change of pace when the villian(s) has1 of their own.

​@@akilcharles3473never going to change the fact that she killed scorpion and they had to make scorpion react like he was an old man. Like if you look at the actual Mortal Kombat 11 cutscene where she killed him he turned around and didn't react he didn't turn into fire he didn't do anything that he did previously in that game to evade someone and he can detect when someone's behind him and Dodge and turn into fire and teleport but he turned around and said oh no bug lady in like slow motion and she stabbed him. The people don't like her because she got away with either killing or defeating veteran characters with little to no reason explaining why she can do that.

@@isaiahhellems7901 I well aware of that, I'm also aware of the fact old man Hanzo was sent on that mission by himself and have to defend against 2 opponents at one time. And regardless of who's a veteran, Johnny Cage is veteran (& a human mind you)and he almost got killed by D'vorah but I don't see no one coming to the aid of him when he almost die. And again this is Mortal Kombat where hardly anyone in story mode potentially die and come back in the next game. This is not Endgame where a few fan favorite characters are dead and stay dead for the rest of the series. And back to old man no-more-demon-of-the-Netherrealm-but-now-is-a-mortal Scorpion as much fully mastered ninja that he is, he still capable of either losing or dying by either even stronger or some other circumstance that drives the story foward. AND THIS IS ED BOON"S FAVORITE CHARACTER BTW! D'vorah as a new character that she is and how of a so called jobber that she is has done much impressive feat that any of the other characters that are new or old. And when has ever any prior villian (that's not the final boss) has ever had their succeeded and gotten away with it!? Certainly not Baraka,Kano or even Noob Saibot for that matter.

Nina and Armor King also have a version of the poison breath like Yoshi. Difference are the stun states it puts their opponents in when hit and Nina's doesn't do any damage.

I completely forgot about Nina! She's one of my favorite characters, so it's like Yoshimitsu where I never have a good reason to use her poison move over others. Armor King's is cool since it goes with the whole heel wrestling persona.

@@MrTopTenList As a non-Nina player (Yoshi main since T3), the input for her Evil Mist is nuts. Sure, it kinda comes out relatively fast and it has a decent wall carry combo but I would probably flubbed up the input more times than I am actually successful with it. Yoshi has a deceptive range and surprise factor when you actually unleash his poison breath but it's not a move I would normally use as he has more useful options before resorting to it unless my opponent suddenly suffers from aneurysm or falls asleep mid match.

D'vorah in MK X & 11 is my main. I just love her but that's partly because her causing chaos to simply disappear then do it all over again is analogous to the writers of the MK lore. lmao

Great list but I was surprised Kabal from MK or the Naruto Characters such as Shino, Sasori, Kabuto, or Kankuro didn't make it. They are anime ppl but they are technically fighting game characters too. But I love AKI. She is one of the most fun poison users ever.

I don't recall which games Kabal had poison, but that's clever if they integrated that into his mask projectiles at some point! I do need to look at the Naruto games more often since there are always relevant contenders in that series, so I'm sure the fighting integrated the stuff from the anime well.

I've been recently trying to find characters in fighting games who use Southern Dragon Kung Fu for a project of my own (not an easy task--the only substantial ones being Sub-Zero and Jarek in 3D Mortal Kombat and one of Lei Wulong's stances--would be nice to hear if people know others), but that has gotten me thinking: a fun one of these lists might be to have a Top 10 Five Animals Practitioners in Fighting Games. Five Animals is Fu Jow Pai (Tiger), Baihequan (Fujian White Crane), Baoquan (Leopard), Shequan (Snake), and Lung Ying (Southern Dragon). Some would be more prevalent than others, but I don't know if any one of them could really carry a list in and of themselves. Plus, you have situations like Lei Wulong, where all styles are used, or Gen from Street Fighter, who can switch between Crane and Snake.

Nice video. I would put Xiao Lon in it. She is another King of Fighters character, trained by Lin (in fact, both are members of the same clan) in the art of poison techniques. Xiao Lon trained so hard and even became a living weapon just so she can be useful for her clan and especially the leader, Ron (her own father) Like Lin, Xiao Lon's blood is poison. In her bio it is said that she likes to cook but because her body being poisonous, nobody can eat her food. Poor gal 😢 She has one of the saddest backstories in KOF Hope we see her in a new game. At least the latest KOF game made Xiao Lon canon in the mainline series. Xiao Lon's most iconic Super is a kiss that can poison the opponent

Sadly, scarecrow didn’t make this list and I think you should’ve replaced poison ivy. I want F.A.N.G. to return! I loved the goofy old style kung Fu film influence with his character design. And since he is a crane not a snake, his style would be different and they could ultimately rework his kit to be more crane/bird like. He is a great and fun weirdo and is among my top 5 from Street Fighter 5!

Canonically, Yoshimitsu is a title, not a character in the soul calibur series. In order to be the new leader of the manji clan, the challenger must kill the current leader in a 1 on 1 fight. That's why the Yoshimitsu from SC5 has a beheaded head of the Yoshimitsu from SC4 in the artwork

I has counter cross some poison heroes in Lost Saga (Dead Game) Shadow Assassin with their poison breath & A trinket with poison bottle to spit out Anubis with his trinket of poison hornets Chemical Engineer with weapon along with their gears to spray poison across the maps Cuchulain with poison spears and last Trap Master that they can dig over Spikes,Big Holes & ofc Poison to trap opponents Fact this was the only game I know this was free on PC.
