I use Osborne furrowing pads secured to the bottom of Igloo xtra large dog houses for my two very large males. It's more important to keep their plastrons warm in the winter so their digestive system stays healthy. My pads warm to about 105 degrees.. The round Igloo houses are great to retain warmth and ideal in shape due to the spur thighs ability to do a 360 degree turn around.

I use igloos too for a few misc tortoises in the yard but it's just not practical to use them when you have that many tortoises. The space heaters keep the ground plenty warm in there. They are rated to heat large outdoor patios so heating a tortoise house is no problem for them. It's dropped below freezing and I've yet to have to turn the heater up more than half way.

@@azsulcata do you need heaters in Arizona?
@azsulcata3 жыл бұрын
@@ivangutierrez3507 Yes. Whenever the lows are below 60 they should have heaters on them or they would be prone to getting respiratory infections.

Hi -woerued about keeping my juvenile sulcata warn - just moved her outside. What is the name of these space heaters you are using. I also am in Phoenix, AZ and just want to make sure my Sulcata stays healthy and warm this winter;

For a juvenile you're going to want a different setup and heater than this. A small dog house would be ideal with a 100-150 watt ceramic heat emitter.
