First you tube paid video, well sort of. Tasked with getting this Xmas present Villiers MK25 ATCO mower engine running for my mates wife to shame him into restoring it or selling it. Will it run?

Super, top job, glad it helped. If your phone is not wrecked you are not trying hard enough, bit of weld splatter and grease makes it work better......

I wish I could find someone in South West with experience with these old machines I am stuck with mine not starting. I like your descriptions.

Cheers, they are quite easy engines to work on and the manuals can be found online easy enough, might be worth a shot. All the best hope you get it sorted 👍

I have a similar engine (C25) to renovate. You said you found a workshop manual online. Do you remember where you found it? I have been looking without success. Thanks.

Hi, i paid a donation towards the museum below in the link, they had a very large online library of manuals. I have been to the website just now to check but they have reduced the makes. I would try contacting them and find out what happened to their library 👍 www.internalfire.com/

Brilliant. I inherited an Allen scythe with a Villiers Mk 15/2. Never done an engine before and this really helped me understand the timing/points/flywheel. Any idea how to free a really stuck float in the Villiers S12 carb? Excellent video. Thanks again. Albert
@TinkerBod3 жыл бұрын
Thanks glad you liked it. Now your float, on the S12 is it not plastic or rubber its been sometime since I took a S12 apart, it was on a cement poker with a air filter oil bath. In what way is it stuck, if its in bits go down the alloy wheel cleaner bath route but keep an eye on it. Are you on instagram if so send me a picture.

@@TinkerBod Hi again. Thanks very much for your concern. I actually freed it by filling the float chamber with vinegar, screwing it back together and leaving it over night. Next morning it just slid right off. That was after I'd spent hours, to no avail, with a heat gun and about a gallon of WD40. For the record, the float is brass and it floats up and down on an aluminium stem. The fuel had obviously been left in there plus there was decades of corrosion on the aluminium. I have pictures but I'm not sure how Instagram works. I'm in my seventies and this is the first engine I've ever done. Still struggling to get a spark though. I'll have to re-watch your video . Thanks again Albert

Many thanks,,just been given what i think is a mk 20? (ident tag missing),, I have had it running but did remove the flywheel to clean points etc,, so after watching this i now know how to set the timing,,, i just refitted the flywheel and it must have been some where near? as i said it runs and starts very well,,pure luck?
@TinkerBod2 жыл бұрын
Cheers, glad it helped. You're a lucky guy if you guessed that timing, ATB
@neildelaney51992 жыл бұрын
@@TinkerBod To be quite honest I thought it would have had a woodruff key or spline if I had known different I would have marked the position before i removed it,, anyway I may just check the timing to be sure?

My Dad needs to replace his spark lead how do you get the fly wheel off to get to it?
@TinkerBodАй бұрын
On this one, you continue to unscrew the flywheel nut and it pulls off the flywheel, on others and later ones you need to remove nut and use an extractor

Is that gasket between the backing plate and engine paper or metal please?
@TinkerBod Жыл бұрын
Its paper 👍
@Roland88794 жыл бұрын
Please advise how you removed the flywheel, I have the same engine and have loosened the nut but then it becomes tight. Do I force it again or???
@TinkerBod4 жыл бұрын
Undo the centre nut, goes tight, hold crank, dont use flywheel fins, get a hide hammer and hit spanner, remember there is no keyway so timing reset is required.

@@TinkerBod Thank you for your prompt response, used air tool gently and a couple of taps with a rubber mallet, off it came. Really enjoyed your video and will use it when rebuilding the motor.
