I recently spent the night car camping in my Yaris cross and discovered the if you push the seat forward as you did then use the seat hight adjustment and lift the seat as high as you can get it, this will give you extra room to lie straight out. I am 175cm and still had room to spare after doing this. Hope this information helps you out

Hi. And thanks for the tip. I tested it and you're right, it gives just that extra 5 cm. However, I am still surprised that I can only get the seat in a vertical position and not more inclined forward, as in almost all other cars. I have checked the instruction book, youtube etc. and can't find anything about whether it can be done. So it probably can't ;-)

It looks like your boot floor lifts to a second level. Looks like there’s a lip the for it to sit on that would make it all flat😊

Yes, I found out later. The floor of the trunk can be lifted so that the floor is completely flat 🙂

At first I used a cheap air mattress. Now I have bought a 70 x 190 cm foam mattress from a discount shop. It works okay 🙂

Thank you kindly for the video! I am currently looking at a Yaris Cross and plan to take it camping and I am about as tall as you are so this was perfect for me! :D

Great video! Do you or anyone else have tips for smoothing g out the ‘bump’? Not sure where to get a box like you had. Also sleeping out under that glass roof looks amazing! Did you try it for real? How was it?
@wilderways6 ай бұрын
Well, actualy I found out later that the car has a bottom plate in the boot, which can be lifted and placed in specially designed slots, so that the floor is completely flat. My fault that I hadn't seen it. But it's great that the option is there, so you don't need these kinds of boxes at all 🙂
@shellsbells3736 ай бұрын
@@wilderways That’s brilliant! Does that plate come with all models? Did you do any star-gazing under that glass roof? Also, does closing the boot reduce the leg-space further?
@wilderways6 ай бұрын
@@shellsbells373 You can definitely do some star-gazing through the glass roof 🙂 And about the length, I did the test with the trunk closed, so my 175 cm height is with the rear door closed. If you have it open, there will definitely be even more space. I don't actually know if that extra bottom comes with all models. So far I have leased my car, as I was in doubt as to whether it is the right one for me. But check it out if you go out and look at a car you might be considering buying. At least now you know it's an option 🙂

@@wilderways We took it for a test drive today and your video was exactly what I was wondering about when I thought about that glass roof. Thank you so much for making your video and sharing all this info! Best wishes from Estonia!

Use the "diagonal", you will gain a few cm. I myself usually transport 3 pairs of Skis: 174, 177 and 181 cm. In the double bottom I carry a complete spare wheel, two folding camping chairs, snow chains, rescue material and tools and then it is almost flat. Greetings
@wilderways7 ай бұрын
Thanks for your really good suggestions. Yes, I also tried lifting the slab in the double bottom and it gave a much more even floor. This of course removes the possibility that I can have storage boxes in the "recess", but it is clearly better with the flat floor. I also use the option of lying diagonally, but it kind of obstructs the space for all my other comping things, such as kitchen things and such. But all in all, it's all fixable, so I'll definitely have some fantastic trips out into nature.

There's some videos people sleeping in Yaris hatchback. I guess Cross is longer. You can arrange and organize a decent sleep mat there..
@wilderways7 ай бұрын
Yes, that's right, and I will definitely do that too. But as you can see in the video, it depends a little on how tall you are. I had difficulty lying stretched out, unless I was lying at an angle, and then you lean slightly downwards to one side, so it is not optimal. But I don't judge the car as bad at all, it's just not quite optimal for my height, and I'm only medium tall ;-)

Thanks for your good tip. I understand what you mean, but it probably requires you to be good at sleeping, so to speak. I personally can't sleep like that. I need to lie completely down and be able to change the sleeping position, so it is probably something very individual 🙂
