Part of Perk's take resonates and I come to this conclusion. Westbrook has always played the game but I don't think he thinks the game. It's what's holding him back from realizing he needs a jump shot. Jump shots are probably the one skill that ages well as you get older.

It's obvious that he's no longer in his prime (which was from 2012 until 2021) and is entering the downfall of his career. He should've just stayed in Washington where he had his own team. Russell Westbrook has been like this for years... he's just been able to mask it. He plays the game like a crackhead. Always at 100. He'll be up 2 points with 34 seconds to go, grab a defensive rebound and go blazing down the court full speed, lose the ball for a turnover instead of taking time and setting up an offensive play. He's been doing things like that for years.
@carlosvaldez3093
@carlosvaldez3093 2 жыл бұрын
exactly. he was able to mask all of it because the previous teams he went to lacks stars making him the HERO who gets to have the ball most of the time even if he was inefficient and turnover prone (because 3ple dub is blinding even if you are in a losing team). Now he's at the Lakers with two of the best in the NBA (and LeBron who can also 3ple dub with insane efficiency) and all of it becomes way too noticeable playing along side them.

That was the issue with him the day he was drafted. Which is why everyone was saying Rose was the better player and would have a better future. It didn't play out exactly like that but it did prove the people's worries correct. Rose has been hurt for a good 1/4 of his career and still managed to adapt his game and polish it even after all the athleticism he lost. Westbrook on the other hand basically didn't improve or grown on anything in a 15 year career. If this continues Russ will end up out of the league before rose Which is something I don't think people would have expected in 2016.

@@fastballfilms4214 is Russ playing at an elite level or in an elite league? You can visibly see who has talent vs who doesn’t. The word ‘stat padding’ literally came from this man. KD left and won twice and that gave the karma right to who is was supposed to. A selfish player who understood that KD was the star but wanted to be on KDs level. Timeless memories of Russ ruining KD’s early career with turnovers, Ill-advised shots, and poor defense. They went to the finals in their 3rd year. Not off “Russ gets another trip dub” but off of “omg Kevin Durand has scored 25+ in 50 straight games this season” or whatever it was. Who can forget Russ pulling up for game winners while KD was hot just to prove to the crowd that it’s his time too? He singlehandedly lost the 3-1 lead against the warriors. Got bounced first round every time since then and is the first mvp to finish so low in the standings because he manipulated his team to make him feel like the man. Guys like Steven adams, Jeremi grant , melo and pg are having way better success on team orientation. Have been way more efficient without him. Russ has always been the problem , okc enabled that behaviour and hes yet to realize he’s not a franchise player for any team including them . He can’t make your franchise win. When you have key players on your roster the talent & likes of Rajon Rondo/Russell Westbrook/LeBron James/Anthony Davis/etc., for example, you would think that the Los Angeles Lakers should be considered to be NBA post-season contenders/NBA Finals contenders/both, right?... In my opinion, they would've already been penciled in for a spot of that caliber & looking at things in hindsight, that isn't what's happening because the last I checked, the Los Angeles Lakers are 21½ games out of first place in the entire Eastern conference & 21½ games out of first place in their division, respectively.

Kevin Durant carrying Russ to 4 WCFs & a Finals appearance and triple doubles fooled everybody that he was this great player. Not even the TDs, KD figuring out a way to play with this skill. KD is simply the best shooter of all time & greatest scorer, KD skill level to score quickly on post ups, offball jumpers and off the dribble jumpers & drives helped Russ succeed. Paul George was great off the ball but wasn’t as lethal off the dribble or in the post just didn’t have great athleticism like KD to blow past defenders & didn’t have a lethal shot like a 1 legged fadaway like KD in the post. Harden is dynamic off the dribble but has no offball game or post game. Lebron dribbles the ball often but isn’t dynamic off the dribble where he has a great handle like KD that can create a shot consistently off the dribble wit a hesi or crossover and has a decent offball & post game but not elite. KD skill level optimizes his team so high that he’s able to elevate his team even wit so many flaws. OKC not only had Russ but had flawed players & no shooters with Perkins, Ibaka(who doesn’t shoot 3s, mostly midrange) and Sefolshia who can’t shoot 3s. Then after that had Dion Waiters, Andre Robertson, a bunch of other bigs that clogged the lane like Adams & Kanter. How was KD able to succeed with that but he found a way to succeed with Russ & those flawed players based on KDs pure skill

@@al6467 I came to the conclusion that Curry is the best 3 point shooter not the best shooter of all time. Curry don’t got the midrange game like KD. KD got the midrange in the faceup/triple threat, below the 3 point line, at the elbow, at the baseline, in the post, off the dribble and has the midrange off a catch & shoot. KD’s free throw % is close to Curry shooting 88% from the free throw line. You can make the argument KD is the best shooter cause he got the midrange, the high free throw % and he doesn’t shoot the high volume of 3s Curry shoots but KD os a high % 3 point shooter. Curry wouldn’t be able to fit with Westbrook not just because of lack of size defensively but offensively Curry’s shooting ability isn’t enough to open up the floor for Russ to operate. KD versatile ability to shoot everywhere on the court opens up the court for Russ to operate. People talk about Curry’s gravity so much but you can argue KD’s gravity is even more cause KD shoots from areas of the court than KD
@anthonycelestin3559
@anthonycelestin3559 2 жыл бұрын
@@al6467 Also KD’s size & length makes his jumper impossible to defend or contest too with him being 7 feet with a long wingspan. KD’s ability to get his shot off anytime & make his jumper with no resistance from the defense makes the argument for KD possibly being the best shooter of all time

It’s a knock on Russ’s work ethic too. We knock Ben Simmons work ethic having no jumper but Ben is way more skilled than Russ. Ben worked to be an elite All NBA defender, worked on his touch around the rim with his floaters & hooks where he shoots over 55% from the field with no jumper and worked on his handles & footwork where he’s able to score off the dribble or in the post & be a great passer that doesn’t turn the ball despite have no jumper. Why is Ben work ethic questioned so much but not Russ? Russ has so many more flaws than Simmons, it seems that Westbrook doesn’t put the work in the gym at all to improve his game. Ben only has to work on his outside jumper being a much young player in his 20s unlike Russ who has so many flaws that he still hasn’t worked in his 30s
