One of the first modern American movies that actually looks like what a high quality modern movie should look like. Sayombhu Mukdeeprom’s techniques and mastery of light and shadow really shines here in the subtlest of ways. @@techboy2002 if you haven’t already I would encourage you to watch movies by writer/directors like Yorgos Lanthimos or Wes Anderson for the dialogue style. Theirs is very similar but their narratives are usually a larger deviation from reality, so their dialogue styles are overlooked. A lot of people write off Shyamalan’s dialogue as clunky and obtuse, but I think that’s an unjust stigma. I think his dialogue is purposefully written to be off putting to take an audience out of their comfort zone, as well as being an additional fictive layer to create a greater suspension of disbelief for narratives that supposedly take place in our everyday life

This dude obviously has psychic SUPERPOWERS : he can hypnotize people, make them lowkey ignore him, locate hidden items, and even make cameras glitch ! Look how after he gave her the password to make her less defiant, the female agent stops blinking ! He's HYPNOTIZED her. And she's actually the same agent who closes the door of the SWAT van at the end of the movie (probably leaving the door unlocked for him) Also, notice how at the end of this scene, when he looks back, there are like 15 agents on the roof ! That's because the ones he was hiding from with his powers weren't showed until now, to make us understand how he feels when he's in his stealth mode : Shyamalan wasn't showing us the agents who didn't notice him (AKA : MOST of them) Cooper has psychic powers, and it's a sequel to Glass. No offense, but that will be a serious let down if they just make him another serial killer stereotype in the sequel. The movie's first half works because during the concert scenes, he's not being a serial killer - no, he's being Jason Bourne (but slow-paced). The knowledge of his identity as a vicious psychotic serial killer made the context unique; and seeing him crank his brain-gears trying to think of a escape route kept us hooked.
