Good video, I'm currently using all of the same tips and tricks (mostly same brands of gear as well) and glad to see others do the same . I like the Backbeat Pro noise cancelling headphones as they are wireless also for a bit of extra comfort and pairs to 2 devices at the same time.

That whole summary of "cutting" the general security line was helpful! I wish I had known about that, because I nearly cried the last time I saw nobody at TSA Pre-check, as I slowly put my luggage down in the population of the airport and yelling security agents.

Another awesome tip I learned from Elia Locardi, when traveling with someone, try and pic seats that are one place apart. More often than not, you're going to end up with an empty seat that you can use to make your trip more comfortable and if not, you can just ask to switch seats.

Thanks for the video. I have nothing to do with them, but I highly recommend Rimowa carry-ons... If you got excited about wheels, theirs are simply the best I've ever tried... And they come with interior dividers that function preety much as the "envelope" from Eagle Creek that you showed. I still use the cubes from Eagle Creek inside my Rimowa (especially the compression ones), but for shirts and pants, the flat dividers work great... I don't fly millions of miles and don't make the million$ you make, but I still think the harsh price tag on them was my best travel purchase yet...

+Chase Jarvis Just watched this in the AA Admirals Club during a long layover at DFW. I didn't really learn anything because I had to learn all this shiz the hard way over the past 10-years, but all of the info was spot on. Wish I had someone with this info when I started traveling.

Great advice Chase - the only thing i would add is that having spent 6 years flying millions of miles myself, I found the 20" wheelie bag is far better when it has 4 wheels instead of just 2. Pulling the bag behind you is a pain in those huge airports with multiple terminals that take 15-20 minutes to walk to - the 4 wheeler is much better for those long transfer between terminals.
@ChaseJarvis
@ChaseJarvis 8 жыл бұрын
+Gavin Gallagher fair point - but i find that sometimes certain config of planes hate the 4 wheels overhead... but i see you.

Thanks for the tips Chase. I do travel sometimes but most airlines these days allowed only 14 pounds of carry on. As you all know that the bag only weights around 10 pounds already and then you don't have much left. Of course you don't want to send those expensive gears as check in lugages. The airlines sometimes let me thru, sometimes they don't. In that case, what do you do Chase? Thanks.

You can also try Tryptophan capsules to help with sleep. It's a melatinon precursor that's sold over the counter as a dietary supplement. It does not initiate melatonin production but rather supports a natural rhythm, so it won't help with time zone changes, but I found it to be a nice, readily available, and mostly harmless helper against rather severe sleep issues.

Hey Chase, the video was incredible! might be the best episode of RAW! however I was wondering if theres any chance you will also do a new video for traveling with lots of pro level photography gear? I'm just really interested as over the past few months I've upgraded to a two Canon 1DX camera set up with a 5D3 and bring about 5-6 lenses with me on each trip as well so after watching your last gear video from 2014 and with your new amazing outlook?/ philosophy on traveling and life thought you might have a new way to pack your photo gear as well as the behind the scenes gear :)
@ChaseJarvis
@ChaseJarvis 8 жыл бұрын
+Sascha yeah - i might make one, but watch the older one i link to in this video and just change out the old cameras for new stuff. i made an "advanced' vid that had all my cases and stuff but it got taken down when viddler died. LOL.

I have traveled with beef jerkey before. Great food for traveling for sure. Sadly it didn't work out great for me though, I wasn't so hungry and I forgot about it. By the time i arrived at my destination it went bad (this wasn't the kind you buy at wall-mart, but the proper kind from a butcher).
