it's crazy, when i first heard this song 6 months ago, i was still in a relationship and just enjoyed this amazing song for what it was, even though i couldn't really relate, but now 1 month ago i've been broken up with and when i listen to this song i feel everything coming back to me, all the emotions, all the heartbreak, all the pain.. this song and her entire album is incredible, it's been helping me out so much during this time where i feel absolutely lost, broken, confused, in so much pain, etc.

I hear anger and frustration in this song. It’s the restraint he hears because she’s on the verge of screaming “fuck you buddy” when she’s like “how could you?!?l and then she goes back to reminiscing about how she loves this person when she goes back to the relaxed part. It’s masterful. It’s art. It’s as fantastic a song as it could be.

Getting your drivers license is an era in teenage lives. I’m 28 constantly jamming to this song with my 17 year old sister. Losing someone - whether romantic or platonic - can be heart crushing and life changing. Unfortunately at that age it happens a lot, too. It just continues to happen and change as you get older. You grow as you go, learn how to react and adapt...and try not to let it hurt as bad even though it can. Even though I got my drivers license a decade ago.

I admit that I was dismissive of this song when I first heard it, but I actually never even got to the bridge or noticed the nuances in how her voice reflected the meaning of the lyrics until today. The lyrics are simple, but the nostalgia of this song reminded me of how I felt falling in and out of love around this age. Even though people move on and older generations dismiss it as petty drama, these subjective feelings and emotions can be very formative for a person and apparently, that’s why this song has resonated with so many people, myself included despite being in my 30s. People may want the details of the story behind it, but it’s not about the guy or the blonde girl, it’s about contending with these really intense feelings of love and the loss of that. Obviously, that’s nothing new, but the authenticity, universality, and execution is what makes this song commendable. On another note, I’m totally biased and also just love to see authentic representation of other Asian-American women’s experiences and emotions 👏🏼.

@@jordanstanley3111 Actually, there's a breakdown video of Deja Vu where they talk about how it was her producer who came up with a lot of the lyrics for it with her. I'm not sure about the rest, but I know specifically Déjà Vu was co written with her producer

Maria Mansour they’re just puppets sold out to the industry it’s truly sad once you know and realize everything that must be done to even accomplish this amount of fame, especially for her because she came from Disney and we all know sadistic and pedophilic that monopoly is. Yea Olivia will blow up even more and watch how she starts to push a certain narrative soon

@@rachael5526 they're completely different? billie's creativity with her backtracks and lyrics is what shines in her work, alongside with her vocals. Olivia's a lot more of a modern-pop artist, showcasing her vocals above all else, but her lyrics are also incredible. Hard to even put them in the same sentence considering she has 2 songs
