Gotta love it when a problem player acts like an adult and fixes their behavior in a healthy way, instead of acting like an adult-sized entitled child •

After watching and reading SO MANY STORIES of problem players ruining everyone's fun, it is a fresh of breath air to listen to an history were the DM amiciably stops the Problem player from being problem player.

It's a breath of fresh mountain air when a problem player realizes how they're in the wrong and manages to fix their act, especially to the extent that Blue's player did.

Lawful: you obey the law of the land or your personal code, no matter the other half of your alignment. Carnival doorman: Pay for entry. _The problem character who claims to have researched Lawful Evil:_ And I took that personally. I actually want to play a Lawful Evil character at some point. I’ll be drawing inspiration from Tyrian Callows from RWBY: fiercely loyal to his mistress, but has no trouble adding his own flair or desires to his duties. He will join the party because Mistress commanded him to join Goody, support Goody in their goals, and if they find MacGuffin to bring it to her. Yes, he will have the crazy side like Tyrian. Yes, he will take torture or missions with his own flair for the bloody. But if Goody sets the rules quickly, or chooses the course of action before he can preempt Goody, then he has to obey Goody or else break his Mistress’s command. If he believes Goody’s rules are too strict, he can overly enforce them to get Goody to rescind the commands.

Now that is an interesting way to play lawful evil, something that I approve of, so long as it is handled carefully and everyone has fun with it. Good luck with that character idea dude

Regarding cutscenes: My GM uses them, but tends to end with "Okay, does anyone want to interrupt at any point in that? if so, when?" We've been playing via play by post, but we're planning to swap to voiced sessions soon now that I have my cochlear implant. We're going to run a side game as a test before swapping our main game over. But if it goes well, we'll be doing actual sessions, though we'll most likely keep the same cutscene style. Our GM works hard, it would be rude to not let him finish his evil monologue before shooting the villain in the throat. Regarding PvP persuasion: Even against NPCs, Persuasion isn't mind control. No matter how good you are at it, you can't use it as a substitute for convincing words. Likewise, a bad roll shouldn't entirely negate a good speech.

4:09 YIRBEL LIVES! So yeah anyway that did get me wondering, apart from initial starting points I know certain spells like detect evil and such have are obviously influenced by character alignment, but now I’m curious about other ones. Like is there a certain sort of spell type, weapon, artifact that might have different effects based on alignment. I’m sure it is but now i’m roped up in the mechanics and am curious pfft.

Unicorn Lairs: curses are suppressed, and healing spells, when applied to Good aligned creatures. Spirit Guardians: Radiant if non-evil, Necrotic otherwise. Glyph of Warding: can trigger by alignment. Candle of Invocation: same-aligned creatures in its glow have advantage on all d20, and same-aligned Clerics/Druids can cast prepared spells at first level without expending a spell slot. Book of Exalted Deeds: You must be Good and actively good to retain all its benefits. Book of Vile Darkness: opposite of above. There are a few more spells, items, and other effects.

As a DM, I never let a player ruin a campaign. There are some tricks in the game and especially communication. As a player, I chat off-game with other players. If everyone agrees we discuss with the DM.

Some times its a bad player, sometimes its a player who has had one to many bad DMs. This seems to be a case of the later. I just admited a new player who sent up some red flags when asking about PC creation. So I talked it out with him adressed his concern, asked a few questions. I found out the issue wasnt him. The was the last two DMs he played with expected new players to start with level 1 gear regardless of level. This is the first time I have ever heard of this happening so I asked if they were playing 5E or something. Appaently they were new to 3.5 and didnt understand it.

I find it amusing how the ending bit "our videos are posted every [...]" has steadily increased from "every Tuesday and Thursday" to "every 3 days" to now "every 5 days" over the last few years. How long until we get "our videos are posted every 3 weeks"?

That's the natural progression fam. It's not that they're lazy, it's that the KZbin channel you have to pour every waking moment into to get up and running and noticed for years eventually takes off, you get involved in other things and the money starts coming... why keep up the 3 hours of sleep and nonstop grind when you've hit succes and are branching out? Look at Daily Dose of Internet, is he daily anymore? Or Game Theory, back in the day it was just MatPat trying to survive after leaving Broadway. After massive, near overnight success thanks to the algorithms suddenly favoring gamers back in the 2012 era, he hired people to keep making vids while he outsourced himself for marketing other channels. He still does the voice overs, but the writing hasn't been his nor the opinions his genuine theories for years.

I'm not entirely sure what he was going for there. He sounded more chaotic than lawful and what was with the dunk tank obsession? I have seen people use homebrew dodge rules before though. That, at least, i can understand if they're doing it in his other game, but you should still wait to roll until you're asked.

I can't tell if you keep saying "they" because you're talking about the group/multiple people or if you're just going out of your way to be woke and not say "he" or "she", but it's too hard to follow along. Who is blue? Is a blue a person or a group?
