During the Dutch Ambassador bit, he did not even show the worst part of it. Right after he said it was fake news, the journalist promptly showed him the video of him saying that cars and politicians were being burnt and that there are no-go zones in the Netherlands (the same one shown in this episode of LWT). The journalist asked him how he could say it was fake news when this video clearly shows he said those things to which the ambassador responded: "I never said it was fake news." It was huge news here in the Netherlands.

They assume it just means higher taxes and less privacy because there's more government control. That's only true to a small extent: Socialism provides cheap or free education, including at collegiate level, to everyone. It also covers the costs of universal healthcare, and would enable us to better close the gap in this country between the rich and the poor. The only people who don't like this plan are the selfish wealthy elite who don't want the government taking a little more of their "hard-earned money" to give to "idiot freeloaders." They miss the point that these benefits would also give them more though... A slightly higher tax but free healthcare and education? And the tax is still only a relatively small percentage of income. Rich people would still be making tons and they'd be better off in times of emergency. Also, we know for a fact not all rich people worked hard for their money (Trump inherited millions as an example, went bankrupt a few times but got some lucky deals, etc). And while there probably are a few freeloaders who would get lucky, that's a relatively low minority compared to all the folks who are genuinely down on their luck especially due to circumstances which they had absolutely no control over, like minorities with years of systemic racism shoved down their throats placed in poor areas where they are forced into doing things to survive that they don't want to do. Let's face it, if you're voting against socialism at this point, you're just a racist who doesn't want to give up white privilege.
