You can eat the stems of the Swiss chard too, they just take a little longer to cook but they are way sweeter than the leaves. PS if you cut your vegetable in half so that you have a flat surface on the cutting board and not a round wobbly onion etc you are less lightly to cut your fingers. WTG The Papa, love seeing you back in your happy place.

I’m Italian and we ate dandelion and Swisschard all my life. My mother even made what we call spinach pie. Using dough and Swiss chard or spinach with pepperoni and raisins for sweetness. And make loafs and bake delicious.

Greens are so good for us, nice to see a recipe with them. Happy belated birthday to you and when it warms up enjoying bike riding together.

I've had swiss chard. I love it. An old Italian boyfriend used to roast it in the oven with Italian sausage and garlic and I don't remember what else...but it was delicious! I think he grew it in his garden. He also made wine from his little vineyard. I don't remember him ever cooking pasta. I think without adding the butter to the pan, the olive oil would burn...especially with high temperature. Your meal looks yum! Nice bikes!

And I do have one that is step thru like yours. We bought in 2020. My husband uses it and my grandson uses it as well so it not going to waste. Ps all the kids in middle school and high school around here ride these bikes without obeying laws like stopping at intersections. Btw I’m 69 just had a hip replacement in 2022 and feel great and stronger and more balanced so I may just try riding my bike again. Before hip surgery I felt fragile. But I’m back!!!!❤️❤️🙏🙏❤️🙏❤️

Great video. Both sets of my grandparents came from Italy. My grandmother on my father’s side used to take me and my cousins to the park to cut dandelions. She used them in the beans and also in wedding soup. I have cooked beans, spinach and chopped up Italian sausage. Served with Italian bread. I agree with Nana that all Italians only eat spaghetti. Spaghetti and meatballs is not an Italian meal. They are served at different times during the meal. Most Italians eat a lot of veggies and fruits just like you said. If you are looking for a great Italian Chef, checkout Lidia Bastianich. I know you will enjoy her recipes. They are still simple but flavorful. A new idea from me would be eggplant. I am 76 and still cooking every day. Love and prayers to both of you.
