I finally decided to join the Tone King,and listen to your comments about the Bugera Tube Amps.In 1978 I wrote an essay for my final grade as a sophomore at Miss St.The essay was on the 1959 Marshall Plexi,and the man who really showed this amp for what it really is!If I could request the Tone King to crank it up,and let it roll the way Duane Allman did with his slide,and all gains wide open,and the sound a like the late great Duane Allman.

This is an incredible video. The Tone King not only compares them but provides great advice on how to use the amps. Watch and you will learn a lot. I have been watching video's on the 1960 and 1990 from many other people and not a one of them provide the needed information here to help you decide. Thank You Tone King. You are an invaluable asset to the musician community. -Peter

just bought 6260 at great price 200.00 for the head only and I liked the way it sounded through a full size marshall 4x12 jcm 800 cab at store. I got the ext warranty and today will try it thru a carvin, line6, peavey, behringer, bugera, crate full size 4x12 cabs and 2 mini marshall 120 watt cabs I will give the update when I find out if it is a bone crusher as I put thru torture chamber. thanks for all you info, love your channel.

6260. Metal fucking gain, pristine cleans with headroom, crunch for playing classic stuff. And chords just jump out, distorted or clean, with warmth and strength. Its a damn good replica, that too of a monster guitarist's SIGNATURE amp. Plus its very "plug in and play"...doesn't have 45 fucking knobs to kill the mood. If you have cash, go for the Infinium model. takes care of them tubes and biases them automatically. Fantastic. Mine is in transit..should reach me soon.

I think the 1960 is king as far as tone goes. There can be only one, and yes, it is a plexi. I don't think it shined in this clip but at volume or with attenuators, it sounds the best. It's not a modern metal amp like the others, but for the kind of hard rock and 80s metal that so many people play, everything else is just an imitation. For a practical amp, the 333xl is the best because you can get metal and a very decent hard rock marshall tone out of it. And still have a clean clean channel too (even though I'd prefer if the cleans were a little more dirty like the 6262)

when u demoing the high gain amps, u should put that 'chug' sound aspect on ur demo. That's one of the most important thing for those metalhead. the 6260 sounds so muddy here while in fact the amp's capability is much more than that. anyway, i got u're point that u just want to give us overview of all these amps. great work TK!

Helloo Toneking..im thinking of buying one of these amps..cause they sound awesome and they're cheap! but im chosing between the 1990 and the 6260..now i play mostly 70, 80's rock..guns n roses..aerosmith, or blues like alvin lee, gary moore, or just jimi hendrix..but i wanna go to the metallica sound too or maybe even pantera..is this possible with both amps? or do i have to use a pedal with one maybe? grtz

Very hard to make a decision. They all do their jobs very well. I tend to like the 6260 series the best, it seems to have a rawer (is that a word?) tone. It covers the map and goes to uncharted territory.

@MattiGardners the 1960 has the exact same controls as the rhoads signature head but i dont think theres enough gain so the next on the line is the 1990 which has more gain so if you through a distortion pedal in front of the 1960 you might get there, cranking it helps as well, and consider an attenuator

u think i should get a marshall jmp mk2 master volume model ? i want to get a nice marshall plexi, and the bugera 1960 is the cheaper alternative, but i havent tried it, ive tried the masrshall and it sounded great with a vintage v100 icon, which i mite buy with it, but im really not sure because the amp is 799 gbp (1300 usd) which is a pain in the ass, but i love the tone from it, i managed to get a clean led zep tone with alnico 5's through greenbacks, so i need a bit of help making a choice

I really dig all types of music, and I play ALL types of music, but at the same time I like my distortion how bands like Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, and Uli Jon Roth era Scorpions have their distortion. Which amp would be the best choice for obtaining those tones? the 1990, or 1960?

Yo! Great clip! Dunno really what I´m looking for, but I need a new amp, and since I don´t have anyone near to try out I have to go after youtubeclips -.- But one question, which one would you reccomend for funk/rock? I need really clean aswell as crunch at loud volumes. I´m torn between the 1990 and the 6260 as I would prefer more than one channel. Wich one has the most headroom for clean without breaking up? tyvm!

Im not gonna tell you how to set your eqs, its no big deal. But I really would like to hear some of your Hi-gain tests, with Trebles set low, mids Set high, and bass set at a moderate level. Just to really hear the real tight mids of these heads, and to get more volume, cuz with Mids low, its hard to hear the real Chord Definition. They are chunky heads tho

I'd personally recommend the 6260. I currently own the 6262 Infinium and I've owned the 333XL in the past and something about the 333XL just didn't rub me the right way. Although, it's still a great head and massively versatile.
@Crunchifyable2
@Crunchifyable2 9 жыл бұрын
I think the 333xl is the best and most versatile of those amps. But if you get it, you get access to a whole range of marshall and mesa metal tones. I have a 6262 which is a decent amp but a little harder to work than a 333 or 333xl. Also the 6260 / 6262 amps are not bedroom friendly on the lead channel due to bleed thru - basically....it bleeds low end fart at all volumes, but is not noticeable when the volume is increased. I own both a 6262 and a 333xl. The 333xl description as a "swiss army knife" is spot on. Basically, you can get almost any good tone out of it if you work the active EQs.

Man, that 6260 with original tubes sounds dreadful. It's cool with quality tubes, but while the others are somewhat playable with stock tubes, the fizz of the 6260 and 6262 is just plain idiotic. My 1990 with JJ 6550's and my 333XL with JJ E34L's are mavelous. To all current and comming Bugera owners,,, GET RID OF THE INSANELY CRAPPY POWER TUBES and get some quality tubes JJ, Winged C or Ruby i.e not Groove Tubes, Sovtek, Svetlana or other rebranded china crap. You'd be glad you did, and don't use the bias RCA, it measures negative voltage not plate voltage as it should, so the bias will be wrong.
