I'm not very knowledgeable about cars, but it seems odd to compare the two. A honda civic type r is obviously meant for someone wants a more powerful daily driver than your traditional sedans or coupes, but also wants to maintain fuel efficiency and comfort. It's powerful, but power isn't the only goal. A mustang is a classical muscle car that's meant to look, feel, and sound powerful, though not as comfortable and spacious as the civic. They're different cars for different purposes. Now personally the Type R doesn't make sense for me since I would prefer to go all in on comfort or power rather than try to mix the two and get the worst of both worlds so I'd go with the mustang if I hated my neighbors, but a regular civic if I wanted a daily driver.
@karag655611 ай бұрын
If these dudes are going to delve so much into nit picking little things then here goes. They lie so hard about the pricing difference. The base model 2024 GT is around $42000 and the performance pack is about $47500. They are literally nit picking this against a Civic they said costs about $60000. They try sooo hard to find anything the Civic is good at but it's not good at anything not even pricing. A performance package GT will be competing against much more expensive cars reasonably on a track compared to the Civic which would be left in the dust. Even better is the 5.0 is literally a race ready forged engine, for even still less money than the Civic, you can slap a super charger kit on the Mustang and even retain a 3 year 36000 mile warranty from Ford. The engine will have over 700hp with just spark plugs, fuel injectors mostly. Let's be honest and ask ourselves how much would we have to replace and upgrade in the Civic Type R engine to come close to 700hp that reliably? Case closed.
@WisconsinEric11 ай бұрын
Plenty of 700-1000hp Civics right here on KZbin sweetheart. Guys are making 500+whp in Honda Accords with the detuned version of the 2.0t. Those Accord 2.0T's were under $30k new.
@karag655611 ай бұрын
@@WisconsinEric Sweetie pie, I think you may have misunderstood my post. I never said that making any car 700 hp is not possible. I clearly stated pricing since in the video they seemed to involve pricing over and over. My point was simple, a brand new Coyote 5.0 Mustang Gt engine is literally already built for 700 hp with just spark plugs, injectors and little tuning with the blower for the most part so much so that even Ford themselves offer 3 year warranties 36000 miles on Mustang Gts with an installed kit themselves also. The big difference I was making is that with the Hondas and many other cars the engines literally stock are not reliable at all running 700+hp they require internal component swaps and much more. You can even get a used 2017 Mustang GT for under 30k plop a super charger kit on it and for the most part have a very reliable 700hp car that is still very capable on a track especially with a track pack GT sooo much cheaper and easier competing with cars in the six digits for probably under $50k but the guys in this video lie about the Mustang GT performance pack because as I originally stated a 2024 GT is around $42k and a performance pack is like $47.5k and just installing a supercharger through Ford can even retain a warranty and probably still be cheaper if not the same price as this Civic R that the base Gt is already walking away from, you would essentially have a borderline exotic track capable car at that point
@WisconsinEric11 ай бұрын
Civic Type-R is priced at $45k. The video makers "$60k" was what some guys paid due to demand during the plandemic. I remember when '01 Integra Type-R's were $26k and Mustangs were priced the same. Mustang owned the Type-R at the strip and the Type-R crushed the Mustang in the corners. I bet the results would be very similar between these current offerings. If you plug $26k into an inflation calculator from 2001 to 2023 you get $45k(blame the Federal Reserve). The same guys that thought the Type-R was too expensive in '01 now wish they would have bought one as resale prices are very high. I suspect this current Type-R will age well too. As for internal engine modifications to make 500+hp from k20's and k24's, none are required, not even rods. The videos are right here on KZbin.

I owned a 2022 Civic-R and as awesome as that car is the 2024 Acura Integra is somehow even better. You all need to get your hands on an Integra and do some videos with it. I just traded in my Type-R for an Integra Type-S and hands down it is better...and has much better seats.
@my3rdeyewide10 ай бұрын
im pretty torn between the two, always wanted the Type-R, what makes you feel that it is hands down better? I did think the back seats being leather helped it be less cheap looking, the front is debatable with the TypeR buckets vs the leather. Aside from that it looked like the Acura was just a toned down TypeR (maybe not as great on the track).

You have to completely disable traction control in the type R. It makes a big difference.

For what the Honda is, it's fairly impressive. Especially on a track. The drag race was, is and always will be inevitable. However, 50k for a Civic is stupid. Also the braking test. I mean come on! The Mustang DH came in 2nd in braking from 150 mph, at 569’, compared to 674’ for the Civic type R on the same test. Only the Porch 911 GT3 RS out braked the Mustang.

Interesting comparo. Not really fair to compare the steering / handling /braking of the Type R on Pilot Sports against the GT on all seasons but here goes. The GT stands for Grand Touring which is what 95% people want (53,159 Mustang GT's sold in 2023 vs 3,315 Type R's) They like the image of a sports car but want a cushy / quiet ride. For the rest of us you can buy the performance pack handling kit from Ford Performance for 1,400 bucks, let's call it $2 grand with install. You said you paid 42K for the GT + 2 grand that's $44K and cheaper than the Civic. Braking? Just swap in a set of sticky tires when the originals wear off and spend 300 bucks on higher performance brake pads. Done. As for the rest, We all know the Ford is heads and shoulders better than the Honda. As is, the GT will smoke the Honda around most road courses anyway.
