Takes me back to a time and a place and people long since forgotten. Thanks for that

I'm 23 yrs old and a huge Cure fan, i feel the dad , i bet he just loves how Robert sounds , his vocals aren't accessible to everybody, how he sounds for me is one of the factors I'm a Cure fan

Agreed, Robert Smith has a vibe with his voice that I've always liked! When I was 23 The Cure were at the top of my playlist, well always in my car CD player since we had no playlist yet, Ha.......a total unique sound and always were awesome & legit legends to me! Totally Love them 😎😎 Love UK Bands !!

@@reactionextraction i appreciate u're love to them, but I'd choose different playlist for your son , I'd start with lovesong , then close to me, push ,a forest, I'd show him live performances of early cure , they're style and unmistakable playing we're top notch

The Cure at their most melancholy to me is their song The Funeral Party. It's one of my favorite songs of theirs.

The text is inspired by a poem by Charles Baudelaire, "The Vampire". The piece is fantastic, a demonic hard-rock supported by the most thrilling solo in the history of rock music. The guitar apex of Robert Smith.

Great song. Everyone always does the singles. Nice to see a reaction to their darker, serious side. Also the vocals are perfect!

Agreed, one of my fav album intro Tunes Ever 😎😎

It is worth mentioning that "The Kiss" is the opening track to a 17 track double album. It's long intro is a slow burn that likely takes people a few listens to fully grasp. It's full of love, and it's full of hate, and everything in between. I always think of it as a close cousin of "Give Me It" from The Top. A truly magnificent album opener, and for the 1997 Kissing Tour, concert opener.

The opening song into a fascinating, brilliant album. Love it until today.

Great track great album... But I would have to say the darkest was The Cures 1982 release Pornography by far.... Check out the track A Short-Term Effect...

As a fan of The Cure I actually wouldn't say this is one of their melancholic songs. I'd put Pictures of You or Letters to Elise in that category. This is more so them being grimy and dark, with a harder rock sound. My go to description for this song has always been: A couple of guitars have sex with each other. I also respectfully disagree with Ty. Maybe the song didn't necessarily need it, but I love Robert's vocals on this. Obviously he's not the greatest singer, but he brings across the torn up emotions of the song so well!

I love The Cure, but it’s very rare that I got into a song first time, it all made sense with multiple listens. If I had a skip button available I might never have had the patience.

Skip button, what is that, Ha ..... For me it was more like fast forward, rewind and turn the cassette tape over :) I love the Cure as well 😎😎

I love Rober Smith's singing...its different and emotional like Kate Bush. Not a favorite Cure song but yes, good instrumentation. He might like "The Forest" better.

The son always looks so bored. Just play him some Taylor Swift and be done with it. He obviously doesn't appreciate decent music. I'm afraid you're fighting a losing battle there 😮
