If a dude's just happy to have a roof over his head, I think he probably improves morale for everybody because he's never bitching or unhappy.

Never did time, but I can concur that the person that never bitches and always has some sunshine coming off them are morale boosters, can’t be down when around the sunshine guy. At my job, we had a supervisor in training coming to the trader yard to learn the work, and that was a fun week. We didn’t do anything different, just worked like normal, but he always had a positive step and a smile that was infectious and made the work a little lighter and less stressing.

Hey brother I've been there I was on and off pain meds for years and this last time was the worst I ended up hooked on fentanyl and couldn't stop without ending up in the hospital when I tried to quit but then I went to treatment and the first day was awful but then they started me on seboxin and I mean it when I say seboxin saved my life bro it killed the withdrawals and the cravings it also helps with the pain without the high and it curves the cravings.... I was in a really bad place when I went to treatment my mom passed away 2 days before I went in and I ended up getting kicked out but I kept doing outpatient and even dealing with courts and the possibility of jail and a lot of stress I stayed sober and clean with the help of outpatient treatment and the seboxin.... Keep your head up brother

Dude u rock!Im a former homeless addict with almost a year and a half of recovery after 28 years of getting loaded. The first 8 was just crank, weed and acid..A LOT OF IT.Then I found heroin and that ruled my life until I found fentanyl. Was homeless for most of 20 years and I just didn’t care as long as I was lit.I was lucky enough to never go to prison and spent VERY little time in jail, not cause I ever snitched,I’m just REALLY LUCKY LIKE THAT..They say God looks out for idiots and kids, well I haven’t been a kid for a long time so I guess that kinda narrows it down.Anyway,my point is thanks for all u do.These videos of yours helps fill an empty spot in me and has become a part of my recovery.Cant forget where we came from or it’s right back there ya know? The homeless get a bad rap and honestly some do deserve it.Not all, hell not even most .It’s cool that u recognize that bro.Keep up the great work JD.

My cellie was homeless on the street. And ironicly he was from my hometown. I recognized him and he recognized me but we couldnt figure out where from. About 2 months into my bid we figured it out. He was squatting in a warehouse that was owned by one of my customers and me n the guys i work with found some homeless dudes in the building and the owner paid us extra to run em off. We chased em off with baseball bats (no one got hit we just banged em on the lockers). And he was one of the guys we ran off...... small fuckin world. He was a gr8 cellie tho. And has since gotten him a woman and his own place. Stopped by to check on him a few weeks ago and he got a job too. Proud of him.

I remember my first day in, I don't know if anyone can relate but in order for this to make sense, I'm the type that hates confrontation of any kind. That out of the way, on my first night I just accepted I was locked up, and I let my senses take control if that makes sense? It was like hyper awareness, I was suddenly ready for anything. I thought I was going to be terrified, but nope, I was just like "ok I messed up, this is my reality now, just deal with it and do your time". And that's what I did. I even managed to get a good night's rest, and I'm normally an insomniac. I had to sleep with no pillow, a rock hard mattress, and a single sheet that only covered half my torso. Fun times. I often read comments saying "I'd be terrified" honestly you probably wouldn't be if the situation ever happened, nobody truly knows how they would react.

I'm a big fan of your videos, thank you for your work, truly. Informative and fun. There is an obscure type of fish: the Interesting Story/Foreign Citizen (my term). My boy D, a Canadian harm reduction advocate who gave away pounds of weed at decriminalization rallies in the '90s went to Nanaimo (where they put hardcore gangsters) for selling marijuana seeds over the border, and he was untouchable. He wrote a great blog about learning prison slang from serious killers. Myself, I hitch-hiked from Vancouver to Panama City to Miami when I was 18. I got pinched for smoking a joint on South Beach, and did 3 months in Dade County. Nobody ever bothered me, and everybody wanted to chat with me because I had different story, and anything that breaks the monotany has value. Caveat, my old man did 3 years in Canada's most brutal jail, so I was a pretty savvy kid... and trust me, Canadians have a friendly reputation, but we breed hard motherfuckers.
