How poetic that it was roughly 80 years ago, when women of the Soviet Union took up arms to defend what was once their homeland. Fighting alongside their fellow men against National Socialism. Now the women of Ukraine are having to fight for their country against the yolk of Putin's regime. Most of them like Svetlana and Alona, had such promising futures ahead of them. I hope that they might still have a chance for a better life, if and whenever this crisis is abated in favour of the Ukrainian people and not Vladimir Putin.

Therefore they must be prepared to face the possibility that they might never survive this crisis. Along with the possibility that if they do survive, they might never be the same people again. We are all so "shocked" by the bravery of the men and women of Ukraine because we cannot imagine having the same level of love and devotion for our own countries. Here is the US we would be fighting EACH OTHER if Russia were to launch an invasion. It is quite alien to me to feel this level of respect and humbleness for an entire people but these are my purest emotions.

That being said, arming civilians and inciting untrained people to fight is not very ethical and should be a last ditch resort. They've been forming minuteman companies since day 1. As I understand it military aged males are forbidden to leave the country and must take up arms, while not being given any training and proper military gear...I find that also disagreeable. I get that freedom must protected but a country's first priority and obligation is still to guarantee safety to its people, not a glorious and unfortunately pointless death.

Ukraine is not a NATO country. Nato are not afraid of putin they are afraid of nuclear war bringing about the end of the world. Rightly so!
