Maybe people finally understand how the politician/statesman is supposed to behave and conduct himself. When the war started, and he was suddenly everywhere, it made me consider why the heck is his former career so emphasized - like he would be some sort of amateur in the political field. It's such a fallacy! IMHO a great politician with the prospect of becoming a respected statesman only needs two qualities - intelligence and character. Intelligence guarantees the capacity to think, willingness to learn and grow, consider (all/long term) consequences, and capability of making (even the toughest) decisions. Character means the person will not run from the responsibility taken and will put the people he swore to protect - first. No doubt, President Zelensky possesses both - intelligence and character! (And perhaps, precisely that - slightly despected(sic!) comedian career - prepared nowadays Ukrainian president for the tough job he is doing today. Because don't get misled - intelligence and character are exactly what makes a comedian great and honored! Since it makes every person, in any profession and any relationship great and respected.) World, look, and look carefully because we haven't seen this quite for a while - A SITTING POLITICIAN WITH CHARACTER! Thank you Mr. President, Volodymyr Zelensky!

@@Inaflap Russia is inciting hatred toward itself. Ukraine shouldn't allow country with hostile intentions to subdue its own. Bullies who are permitted the latitude and discretion to attack folks soon seek other victims and the cycle continues. If Putin succeeds, Poland and the Baltic states are next. Neville Chamberlain found out that appeasing Hitler was illusory. The Sudetenland, Danzig and Czechoslovakia, among others, were sacrificed in the name of "peace". And, as anyone knows who has read European history, those sacrifices emboldened Hitler to seek further conquests, thus ushering in WWII. Putin and his sycophants couldn't care less about the lives of Ukrainians and the average Russian soldier. It's no surprise that his opponents wish he'd end his life. Putin is acting like a spoiled little brat who's playing a game that he's losing. He seems willing to overturn the game board by wreaking total, and possibly nuclear, war to destroy everything. If he does, millions of innocent soldiers and civilians will perish due to one egotistical megalomaniac's desire to annex Ukraine in his quest to resurrect the territorial claims of the old Soviet Union. Putin set his sights on re-unifying the current sovereign nations that composed the old USSR ever since he assumed high office in 1999. Russia annexed Crimea in 2014. Wishing Ukraine the best and the ability to withstand the assault. I hope Ukraine considers reciprocating this invasion with a quid-pro-quo bombing of Belarus and the Kremlin, too. Belarus deserves it for offering Putin a welcome mat to aid him in encircling Ukraine. Say "nyet" to the Russian invaders! Support brave President Zelenskyy and his stalwart people! 🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦

According to Transparency International's Corruption Perceptions Index (a scale of least to most corrupt nations), Ukraine ranked 122nd out of 180 countries in 2021, the second most corrupt in Europe, ahead of Russia. Ukraine was (and is) the poorest country in Europe before the war, with only 3500$ per capita per year. The comic-turned-president, Zelensky took power in Ukraine in 2019, converting his TV fame into a stellar political career, no one knew what to expect. His opponents said he was so inexperienced, he was bound to be a disaster. His supporters thought that he would break away from the old ways and end corruption. His harshest critics claimed that Mr. Zelensky, a Russian-speaking man born in eastern Ukraine, would all but sell the country off to Russia. Others said he was an oligarch puppet. Yet the truth is more prosaic. Mr. Zelensky, the showman and performer, has been unmasked by reality. And it has revealed him to be dispiritingly mediocre. After his nearly three years in office, it’s clear what the problem is: Mr. Zelensky’s tendency to treat everything like a show. Gestures, for him, are more important than consequences. Strategic objectives are sacrificed for short-term benefits. The words he uses don’t matter, as long as they are entertaining. And when the reviews are bad, he stops listening and puts journalists in jail and surrounds himself with fans. Corruption just doesn’t seem to worry Mr. Zelensky much - at least when those implicated are close to him. In March 2020, when his chief of staff’s brother was caught offering government posts for money, Mr. Zelensky did nothing. More recently, a top lawmaker was caught on camera drunkenly offering a bribe to a police officer at the site of a car crash he might have caused. The public was outraged, but Mr. Zelensky mumbled a disapproving comment and moved on. Even the president’s beautiful newly built roads are mired in controversy. The procurement process is thought to be rigged and the prices too high. Scandals and tolerance for corruption have chipped away at Mr. Zelensky’s popularity. Sixty-two percent of Ukrainians don’t want him to run for re-election, and if an election were held today, he’d garner about 25 percent of the vote - down from the 30 percent he easily won in the first round of the 2019 election. He’d still be likely to win, but the historic 73 percent he scored in the second round feels like a distant memory, but thanks to the war, he may win again.

Stewart: " tRump or Clinton, what's the difference, really?" During an interview and asked several times "Really?", he then doubled down. No joke...Stewart's main concern during tRumps presidency was 911 responders. Nothing wrong with that...at any other time. So no. Colbert YES.

You do know why Micronesia a) sides with USA, b) on Russia’s shit list The bigger deal is that Patriarch Bartholomew I of Constantinople (the name is used for ecclesiastical purposes) has challenged Patriarch Krill of Moscow over Ukraine, with the Patriarchs of Jerusalem and Alexandra (so the three most senior) have supported Constantinople. This is a very big deal and a huge issue for Russia. It is what will loose them the War.

My friend is in Kiev suburbs. Still can’t evacuate. There are tuns of Russian soldiers that kill civilians (including children), shoot at houses, get in the properties, steal food, steal things like TVs and phones, there are even cases of rape that being reported. If I was a Russian soldier I would also cut all connections with Russian military and their “allies”. What kind of person with any decency would want to be associated with those people now? Literally a bunch of murders and war criminals.

Totally agree! Zelensky has the advantage of being Jewish (half of his ancestors were killed in WW2 which probably made him tough), plus having an Isreali advisor. So Colbert would probably be less brave, but he´d definitely have intelligence, social skills, patience and integrity, the ability to support, to unite and to move.
