As good as 19.19 is, I don't think bolt ever reached his peak in the 200m. He could've definitely gotten a 19.0x or even a sub 19 if everything clicked. Still the goat and it's not even close.

He is not the only young athlete with such potential. In the past there have been many athletes who showed huge potential to break the records but didn't break it. for eg, Karani James ran 43.94 at the age of 19, but eventually didn't break the record. Erriyon needs to stay calm and not rush into breaking the records .

There has literally never been anyone with this much potential at such a young age except Kirani James. So this is a rare occurence in athletics and it is not as frequent as you put it especially when it comes to teenage athletes being ranked in the top 10 all time . How many 18 year olds are ranked top 4 in the history of their sport? None.
@AJT127
@AJT127 2 жыл бұрын
Kirani James had a lot of personal problems such as Graves’ disease and death of family members to deal with - in light of all those I’d still say he’s had a very good career having to go through all of that even though he didn’t end up realising his maximum potential because of his illness.

He's 18 and only 0.17 s off the WR mark set by Michael Johnson in 1996 when Johnson was almost 29. It's almost inevitable that, as long as he stays healthy, he will break the record within a few years or less. A more provocative question is whether he can approach Bolt's other WR of 9.58 s?

Might not be the most popular opinion here, but I don't think he will end up breaking the Goat's WR. Yes, I understand his age and incredible talent..... but not all people develop at the same rate. I do believe he will get close to MJ's National record and I can certainly see he DOES have the ability and TIME to beat 19.3. But to dip under 19.2... Idk, I'm leaning more towards thinking he won't... but of course anything is possible? What I do know is that he's set to take over the 200m reigning champion Degrasse, and I also can see him holding the title of fastest man at the 200m for a very long time. It's scary to think about how Young he actually IS... and how long he could potentially be very dominating in the Sprints. Sky is truly the limit for this young man, and I wish him a long Healthy career.👍👍

0.3 is still a long time. Will Knighton lose speed as he gains weight from aging and muscle from weight training? So many of these guys start looking like NFL safeties, and yet I fear it will slow Knighton down. Houston McTear is an example of a teenager who was preternaturally fast but didn't improve a lot (though, yes, he had other challenges, to be sure). I can think of other HS sprinters who didn't develop much after their junior years. It can be hard to predict.

Why dnt we wait to see if he's gonna consistently run food times bfore anointing him as bolt .....smh ...it's good wat he's done ...and the fact that he's still young is tempting but atleast wait and see if he will run those fast times consistently first ....bcz Noah lyles ran 19.50 bfore and still to this day he hasn't gone under tht....

@Ade Osun idk, i don't think it would be broken for atleast a few years from today. In the future when technologies and sports facilities would improve, then bolt's record could be broken. Very few people have gone even below 9.7 seconds mark(maybe less than 5 infact). 9.58 is a very huge goal.

He's ALREADY faster than anyone he's going to race against. LOL. He has ZERO PRESSURE except his own desire to be the GOAT. And he's VERY hungry and also VERY QUIET. No Shacarri Richardson coming from him. Bolt didn't get injured because of a lack of resources. His build lent itself to injuries, just like 7 footers in the NBA. Knighton's the perfect build, weight, strength, power, turnover, stride length for the 200 and 400. You saw how effortless he looked running that 19.49. The 100 being more technique driven might take him a few years to master. But I predict he'll take all three WRs and be the greatest sprinter of them all. The New Jesse Owens.
