Sara did what she needed to do to win in a difficult situation. However, she displayed ZERO sportsmanship and decided to fist pump aggressively in Venus's face, gave an ungracious and insincere greeting at the net, then obnoxiously celebrated while Venus limped off the court. Also, the ESPN3 commentators made jokes after Venus's injury about how Venus's body needs "rebuilt" by bionics, scoffed at her for pressing on and wanting to go down fighting even though the tournament medical staff and chair ump gave approval for her to continue. This is the SAME woman who AS A TEENAGER received accusations of LYING about an injury just to let her sister win SF in Indian Wells, then hurled slurs at her. ESPN commentators only called it all "alleged" and sympathized with these false accusers. Venus is a legend but will never be treated as one, she will fight on her OWN TERMS and continue to achieve the impossible. Until then, the disgraceful Errani, commentators and haters can all go take a hike and count their ZERO grand slam trophies and pathetic attitudes and out of shape bodies and minds. I think many here forget Venus is a legend. She changed the rules for black people in tennis. She opened soooo many doors and INSPIRE thousand (if not millions) of non-white female and male tennis players all over the world. Venus is a great champion, but what rules did she change? Do the names Althea Gibson and Arthur Ashe mean anything to you? Althea Gibson won her first grand slam (of 5) when Venus' *father* was 14 years old. Venus won her first GS title in 2000, 32 years after Ashe's first title. Interesting. I had trouble finding this match based on the schedule. Just now seeing the result. Could've sworn Errani was older than 33 since she seemed MIA in recent seasons, but she turns 34 in April. Which makes her still younger than Stosur, Serena, Kuzy, Hsieh and a few others. But watching Venus gimp around is just a prophecy fulfilled. Did it never occur to her that continuing to play past 40 was fraught with potential for sad results? I did not see the match but was there a reason why she didn't just retire rather than continue playing? It looked like she was pretty banged up. It is no disgrace to retire if you are injured. Also, that announcer, who chided Errani for being "cruel" when she lobbed one over Venus' head -- he was WAY off base. This is competitive tennis on the highest international level. Errani is there to win, and to dispatch her opponent as quickly as possible. Venus should've retired from the match. End of story.

The video didn't cut in the freak injury which was bitter to rewatch. Despite this, even with those issues, you would expect Venus to have a game plan in the first place. Some of the shots in the second set was actually what she should've done: giving more spin if needed, hitting deep, not giving angles till a finish. It was almost bitter to see her play at all now with those uncontrollable errors in the first place, one would expect her to at least try to execute a game plan, which she actually did when transitioning her play back in the days.

Since the incident late in the 1st set, she took 2 MTOs (separate injuries - right ankle and left knee) then returned LIMPING back onto the court and hobbled around hopelessly for the rest of the match. Overly dramatic Venus...not the first time. Thing is, she was losing this match quite convincingly before the injury (5-1) but it's as though she decided she wanted to put on a show instead. Give me a break.

Errani, show some pride and dignity when it comes to playing someone who is injured, drop shot to drop shot, the last set was disrespectful and even the commentators even said it too. Hope you’re ready for Hsieh, she will whoop your butt guaranteed. Who’s the number 8 or top player, course you’re not period. As you should.

That was terrible. Venus had such a great year in 2017, two major finals and a semi final. Then she changes coaches and has consistently went downhill. I never thought I would say this, but i now think it's over. :(

To the people who are commenting that Venus was severely injured. One question here is why didn't she just retire? A severe injury is like a bad car accident. Get real.
